Well hopefully the semi transparent mirror gives you an upper hand over us hahaha.
Also for this years new years resolution I gonna just go for the 365 photo challenge. Anyone else gonna commit to that this year?
Happy 2014th birthday America

posted in the creative thread, but i hung about edinburgh for new year
I feel muddled up in terms of my organisation and focus. I'm not sure what I want to do or what direction I want to go in I just change my mind too often. One day I just want to shoot street on B&W film all day everyday but other times I really want to do some clean studio portraits. I think it's because i'm not sure where my strengths lay. But all of this had made my portfolio and Flickr really inconsistent.. Any ideas? What are my strengths?

I feel the same. One time I look at some clean architecture photography so I want to get a large format camera and make some clean architecture shots. Then I look at photographers like Daido Moriyama and feel like getting a snapshot camera, loading it with B/W film and going into the streets. Then I look at studio portraits and feel like hiring some model to make some studio shots.
I think you have to focus more on what you want to do, on what you want to achieve with your work, than creating nice/well composed phographs. At least this is my problem. Instead of having a certain goal I look around and think of what would make a nice composition/decent photograph. But I guess that all successful photographers didn't give a fuck about that and just did what they want. This is why they were so unqiue.
stayed up for 30 hours, had a wild time. i hope all your new years were pleasant.
does anyone know if there is a software for stitching panoramas that works well and is preferably free or is part of a larger program like lightroom or something idk
also is there a way to stitch photos into a panorama that arent taken with a tripod but just like using the parts of the photos that are lined up and cropping out the stuff that isnt
Microsoft ICE
Free, and does what you are asking
Photoshop does exactly what you want. I haven't compared it to ICE, but you can really push it to its limits with the handheld panorama stuff. If it glitches out, it leaves everything as layers so you can manually fill in or fix some of the kinks. Combine that with content aware and there isn't much it can't do.
File > Automate > Photomerge
Photoshop is probably better, I just use ICE because stitching doesn't work on the portable version of CS5

I downsize the images prior to stitching to about 10mp as well, makes it render more quickly

seriously tho i love raws
Haha tell me about it man, all of my NYE pics are downright terrible without PP so many underexposures and terrible white balance.
Also finally completed my xmas roll of Delta 3200. Now it's a tough decision, either develop 2 rolls of Delta 3200 first or 3 rolls of Tri-X. Catch 22 man
dpreview users put the olympus emd-om1 as best mirrorless of the year, with the A7r in second
:(
okay my parents just offered to jump in and look at getting me a Canon 6D for my 18th. thoughts on this vs the 5D2?
okay my parents just offered to jump in and look at getting me a Canon 6D for my 18th. thoughts on this vs the 5D2?
It's closer to the 5d3 than the 5d2 imo, and only about ~£150 more than the 5d2 yet around £800 less than the 5d3. That was the deciding factor for me
It's a 5D3 mini, basically.
so i found my old flickr that has nothing photography related on it and I go to delete it or something and I try to login and i cant remember the pass so I do security questions and both are in chinese
[editline]3rd January 2014[/editline]
I click the "my account has been compromised" option and it sends me back to the security questions
10/10 yahoo thanks
accidentally typing "Canon Powershit" cracks me up everytime
If you have to shit, but you're low on time cuz you have to go out and take pictures, you take a canon powershit.
i really want to go out and reshoot some stuff at daylight but my sleeping schedule is so fucked sideways that i wake up by the time it's getting dark
and if i'm tired, i won't take good photos. pretty much as simple as that :[
perth is on fire. again.

apparently my editing job is going to be very busy in the coming months, going from ~12 images a week to 150-250. if i want to keep up i'm probably going to need a new computer (netbook just can't keep up anymore lol)! gotta spend money to make money i guess also goodbye a7 dreams
looking at computers is a wash though, i want to stay the heck away from apple (mac OS kills me i've used it for years but can't do basic shit), but no other laptops have over 1080p res unless you spend like +$2500. and then desktops the monitors are even worse than laptops! i used to be so into computers but now i feel like they are so foreign. just gimme a cheaper (than mac) sub 14" laptop with at least 2560x1440 and 8gb ram and let me cry my money away ;(
my canon f/1.8 50mm lens fell apart

did you drop it or did it go like that over time?
did you drop it or did it go like that over time?
i keep my camera in my messenger bag along with other stuff, the front element just popped off. i was able to snap it back in, but it keeps falling out.
i'm gonna buy canon's 50mm f/1.4 later this week. this janky lens served me well.
