should i get a lot of portra 160 or portra 400
or a whole other film entirely
I'd go buy one of each roll that I'd be considering and give them all taste tests.

Also you would know the answer to which speed you should get better than anyone here. That depends on how you shoot. 400 is going to be way more flexible, but it might be a pain if you're always shooting in the sun.
how much is in that bunch box of portra?
i got 50 bux to spend on film, how much do those portra boxes save me in $$$ compared to the individual rolls?

agreed with bopie. I keep both speeds handy but I shoot 400 most often. 400 is slightly more saturated but with post-processing it doesn't matter much; you can get the look you want regardless.

Go Buy 4-5 different rolls of film for ~$20* total (as long as you don't dabble with 800), you'll have ~$20 left over (the other $10 for margin) to buy a 5 sack of whatever you feel works the best. It's better to get a taste for whats out there, rather than sink all your chips in one type just to get more of it. Moneys comes and goes, experience and time are limited. You'll actually save money in the long run if you figure out what you like sooner.
*It's been awhile since I've looked at prices, sorry.

If you really need to know, I swear by Portra 160 for most everything, and then have an extra back loaded with Portra 800 for when it gets dark. Maybe 1 roll of 800 for every 5 rolls of 160. Also last time I worked it out, you don't really save by buying in bulk, but that might have changed.
i got 2 rolls of 160, 2 rolls of 400, one roll of velva 100 color slide and one roll neopan 400
i have a roll of ektar waiting for me at home
I've used Portra 160 pretty much exclusively for the past year or so for medium format, and have just bought a pack of portra 400. Pretty happy with the results, and in bright sunlight i just have to stop down a hell of a lot. not so bad. You just gotta find what suits you best.
I beg, borrow and steal almost all of my film.
I'll bring you some, bud

does anyone have any tips for getting into flash photography? it looks really cool and I wanna try it, maybe buy a cheap flash like a Yongnuo YN-565EX
lost like 100 film shots because a) didn't unwind fully before opening the back and b) remembered to rewind this time but forgot to unlock the film whoops
luckily the camera is an actual tank so it just ripped the film rather than breaking but still

Did the same with my pubes. On the positive side, my dick looked longer without hair
Something really atmospheric about the airport at night, especially LHR terminal 5.
Bomb scare at the airport I should be arriving at cancelled my flight and I got bumped to a flight in 3 hours. Usually I'd be annoyed but I'm really enjoying the atmosphere with the large open areas and city lights outside. Sitting in a restaurant bar around other travelers doing the same.
I love airports.
If I'm flying on my own, I usually literally turn up a few hours before I need to head through immigration.
Departure lounges are fascinating, beautiful, sad places.
I feel emotions there that I very rarely feel any other time. A lot of empathy felt and solidarity with my fellow travellers.

Also, I guess I'll drop this in now.
A few pages back around the festive period, a couple of you mentioned you'd chip in for me to buy myself an external hard drive for Christmas.
I really can't say thank you enough.
I promise I will show my appreciation by posting a bunch of the mountain of content I have backed up ready to go - after I get a hard drive to clear up my computer and start editing.
my paypal account e-mail is edwin.quast@gmail.com
I promise to only spend it towards a hard drive and not on drugs, weed and grog.
Ended up never having the time to meet you, pick (what a week). Maybe next time.
When i was at Manchester airport, we arrived at 7am and people were already hammered in the airport bars.
booze culture <3
got my A7!!
I took some pictures, nothing worth posting yet.
Its fucking cool.

can someone explain why my d7100 keeps making new folders on the card and saving images to it? it has gone from 100 to 106 to 118 to 119 and I keep having to reset it
now that i got this big fat tilty screen, I'm finding it hard to remember to use the viewfinder.
when i had my nikon, there was a button to turn the screen on and off, and I kinda wish I had that on this
there are programmable buttons tho....
that's insane haha, my old pentax 50-200mm used to go to 32 I think at smallest
Yeah that was with a Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro I was borrowing from a buddy.
It stops down a huge amount to get a decent amount of DoF in macro shots without focus stacking.
i want a billingham camera bag but I think I would look like an idiot wearing any kind of shoulder bag and like 90% of the camera backpacks are so ugly and featureless on the outside and just scream "im full of thousands of dollars of stuff"
