Scanning my Tri-X rolls, can't wait to edit these there's some good material on there.
dude just do one of austin's tuts he teaches u how to get 10k
If I buy a ticket out to Arizona and put myself up for a few weeks, my prize money would pay for my trip, no?
hahaha got to shoot with a large format camera today, it was amazing! I'll scan and post the pictures some time later, but for now: [thumb]http://puu.sh/6o7Dx.png[/thumb] This is the size of one negative (behind light shielding, of course)
love a bit of 5x4
wow im in love with VSCO [editline]17th January 2014[/editline] the lightroom thing that is
Just gave a talk for fun on unusual composition and technique infront of about 60 people. Talked mainly on how a seemingly barren, over photographed or dull environment can still be used to make good photos, you just have to work the scene a bit harder. It went really well and got to throw in some of my photos. People came up to me after and told me how much they enjoyed it, cool.
If I buy a ticket out to Arizona and put myself up for a few weeks, my prize money would pay for my trip, no?
would pay for ur trip and then some brah still waiting on my 10k tho
i got lightroom 5 on my new pc, and i just noticed when i export photos that they come out WAY darker than I intended, losing about like 20% of shadow information too. any idea what causes this? i've tried exporting them as all types (sRGB, adobe RGB, and Pro RGB) but they always come out significantly darker. i have lightroom applying absolutely nothing when i export the photos, which is why i'm really irritated. there's a screenshot comparing in lightroom, then exported. i just put the gray background as white to show it's not just a contrast difference.
Hm maybe it has something to do with the way it's converting your RAW's to .jpg?
Hm maybe it has something to do with the way it's converting your RAW's to .jpg?
I've got no idea, it's on like the default settings and I don't have it resize or adjusting anything on export. The files are even coming out sharper than before and loo oversharpened This didn't happen on my laptop though, I checked. I googled around an other people have the same problem, but I can't find a resolution that isn't color space related, which mine doesn't seem to be. I'll try exporting as tiff or something next Also my current monitor in comparison is absolutely beyond fucked compared to my laptop in regards to saturation and contrast, my old photos look like over processed shit Need to sort out this Lightroom thing and calibrate my monitor ASAP, this is truly awful, I have so much to re-edit now :(
The windows image viewer is all fucked up for me, so I don't ever use it as images appear much darker on it. How about you try another viewer?
i got to get thru this roll in my minolta i mean damn my 6 rolls from b&h showed up and i want to test stuff out
i dont trust windows photo viewer try opening it in chrome or something
i dont trust windows photo viewer try opening it in chrome or something
That's how it looks when I open it in Flickr or any other web application. Since that's how pretty much all my photos are viewed, I want the windows one to look like my edited one. It did on LR4 on my laptop, but looks massively different on my new PC
figured out my issue for the most part, when i open the "weird" images back in photoshop or lightroom they look fine, and same with windows photo viewer full screened. i also fixed my firefox view using this http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=12608 now they look the same everywhere except for windows photo viewer not full screened, which is bizarre because that didn't happen on my laptop... oh well
i've had this issue before and when i tried to solve it i came to the conclusion that windows photo viewer is the worst thing in existence and should not be used at any time to preview photos hope that helps lol
yeah it's bizarre, i just don't understand why i didn't have this problem on my other computer. the firefox fix looks better, but not the same as lightroom or photoshop. but i guess i can't really do anything about that so w/e
are your photoshop and lightroom using the correct color profiles? it could be that they are displayed incorrectly in there
they both say they are working in sRGB, and exporting as sRGB, so i'm not entirely sure. [editline]18th January 2014[/editline] ah i got it sorted, my monitor sRGB space was managed differently, which photoshop and lightroom were overriding by themselves. so i changed to default sRGB in the windows color manage utility and everything looks normal even in photo viewer. sweetness
Had a really absurd/surreal experience today. I was walking around in the suburbs, when I found this really old and decrepit facility of sorts. I decided to do a bit of urbexing. It was pretty dark, and I managed to trip and hurt my toe. Anyways, as I went on, there was this metal grid thingy in the way, and some dude suddenly appeared in front of me and said "Hello, what are you doing?". I first thought it was a crackhead, but I said I was taking pictures. Then more people popped up and started brandishing spray-cans and started tagging. He said that if I wanted some cool pix, I should climb over the grid and take some pictures. I was a bit sceptic, so I declined and went home. Gonna go there next time, a bit better prepared and climb over the grid, to see what's in there.
shouldn't have melted!
So the people at snapsort launched this new website called http://www.camerashowdown.com/ where you judge a camera not by its specs, but by the pictures it takes, and as far as I understand it works by searching images on Flickr taken with the cameras you are comparing and makes you do a quiz where you pick which one is "better". Of course this is fucking stupid since the smallest factor to how "good" a photo looks is the camera body, and it all depends way more on colors, comp, subject, etc. try it out for yourself its fucking stupid. [editline]20th January 2014[/editline] I guess it uses images of telephoto, high ISO/low light, and fast shutter to make you judge the camera, so I am guessing they have staff approve photos to use in each test which explains why its missing a lot of cameras.
seriously considering purchasing a Sigma DC 30 mm F/1.4 HSM EX, any objections? also, bought a precision screwdriver set, but they're too large to fit the screws on my nifty fiddy. fuck everything. also also, 5D vs 1100d (my current camera), which wins in terms of tech? i'm aware the 5D is full-frame, but is there any advantages with the 1100d?
what? is this even a fucking photograph? [t]http://puu.sh/6rksH.png[/t] 10/10 snapsort creators rip merge [editline]20th January 2014[/editline]
seriously considering purchasing a Sigma DC 30 mm F/1.4 HSM EX, any objections? also, bought a precision screwdriver set, but they're too large to fit the screws on my nifty fiddy. fuck everything. also also, 5D vs 1100d (my current camera), which wins in terms of tech? i'm aware the 5D is full-frame, but is there any advantages with the 1100d?
yeah the old sigma 30mm f/1.4 is bad
The DC version is good, but the art version is a bit better. Both are pretty great overall and they are probably your best choice in the focal range for an APS-C Canon
if the art version is in question then isnt it worth it to also think about the 28mm f/1.8 by canon?
10/10 snapsort creators
Just ignore it. There is an infinite supply of things just as dumb as that site. If you get hung up on stuff like that, you've got a long road ahead of you. [editline]20th January 2014[/editline] Don't get frustrated by things you see as 'dumb' or 'wrong', it's a waste of energy. Actually it just points to less competition for you in the long run, so celebrate it.
fiddy is fixed, fuck w/ me only downside is that the AF sounds a bit off, and the focus ring is a bit stiff. now, bidding on a 30mm sigma hell yeah hope i win
Can I get some advice on if I'm using proper camera settings? I know these shots aren't exactly art Thanks guys, just got into photography by picking up the family camera (finepix s1500) Fixed Link just tell me how the light looks, can I fix most of this stuff after the shots been taken? How do I get it right first? Camera limitations? I feel like I'm seeing a lot more grain on my own pictures than other peoples.
