I love John Free and his videos, so interesting and inspiring
On the topic of specs, do you lightroom users notice a big boost in performance on new hardware? My 2010 mid mbp with base specs was similar to my i7 4770k desktop in terms of performance which I found disappointing. Its pretty usable but not instant like I would expect, handling 16mp raws on each.
I've always found Lightroom to run pretty much the same regardless of what hardware its running on. Even when I put all my raws on an SSD alongside Lightroom it seemed to make absolutely zero difference to having the raws on a hard drive
link to a camera cleaning kit for cleaning mirror/sensor just to have? my sensor is fine but my mirror is dirty and I keep making it worse when I try to clean the spots off with a cloth. [editline]26th January 2014[/editline] id imagine all I need for now is a dust blower and like a brush of some sorts [editline]26th January 2014[/editline] fuck it Q tips worked
Just for a future reference this is my cleaning stuff, might help ppl Sensor swabs: http://opteka.com/ssc20.aspx Easy, cheap, effective. Used some other ones, massively preferred these. Dust blower: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/259157-REG/Giottos_AA1900_Rocket_Air_Blower.html Best investment you can make in a camera accessory. Sits up, no rubber decay, and has a lot of power. Brush and cleaner: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000KO0GY6 Just a generic lens pen, has a soft brush for dust and a good cloth part for controlled cleaning. Works well for getting smudges off lenses. Cleaner and cloth: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001AJFWNK Solution is effective and good for lenses, but the cloth is like magic. Washes well, is big, and stays incredibly soft and fine. That's my kit, I use them to clean the my used lenses to make them look nice, and in my opinion they all work really well and are pretty durable. Hope it's helpful
Hello again photo subforum! It's been awhile since I posted, been awhile since I took some photos. Ended up having some stuff cloud my mind and cause some issues to come up, made me feel down enough I barely even grabbed my camera to take photos outside of required photos my school newspaper needed. Recently, things have gotten better, including making a 3.5GPA for this semester at school, which was a fairly good achievement for me. I hope to be posting more soon, took some nice photos over the weekend at a camp I attended. It's refreshing to get back in the game
http://www.xrite.com/custom_page.aspx?PageID=77&Lang=en a bit curious to see what most of you score on a color vision test.
[editline]27th January 2014[/editline] i didnt really understand it
You drag the little colour blocks so the gradient between the two colours on each end is in the correct order, basically make it so it looks as smooth as possible.

This is really interesting already, it's really cool to see where we're 'blind' as individuals. Might give some insight into individual styles. Hopefully more members will participate!
i'm bad at that last time i got like a 90+ i don't want to take it again
makes sense to me from my experience so far - i've always found greens to be either bluey-green or very yellow-y green mostly, very very few green-green

neat [editline]27th January 2014[/editline] though wouldn't this partly depend on monitor calibration? someone with a shitty 4:3 LCD is gonna have a harder time compared to me with my apple calibrated display :v
a shitty 4:3 LCD
that's what i'm usin
wouldn't that only really affect absolute colour but this test makes you arrange colour relative to other colours, so it shouldn't really matter that much how far your monitor calibration is off?
not bad at all
wouldn't that only really affect absolute colour but this test makes you arrange colour relative to other colours, so it shouldn't really matter that much how far your monitor calibration is off?
some people's monitors will have smaller gamuts than others, making the test more difficult than it should be i.e. you'll probably do better on a good monitor where you can distinguish the colours more [editline]27th January 2014[/editline] chances are that most people who post in the section have at least a half way decent monitor anyway, so it's less relevant i guess
So I can't distinguish a lot of hues
