any people in glasgow willing to volunteer themselves for the sake of science? my final year project has barely started and is already falling apart due to volunteers being busy
need to be willing to have electrodes on your head for two hours
it's still a dumb thing to say tbh
most people who can afford to buy a leica camera are either a. rich because they're already successful photographers b. generally just really rich or c. saved up for a long long time
i think you just notice the people you talk about more.
For the price of a Leica M9-P, you can either buy a Nikon D4 or Canon 1D.

Yeah but they're huge and heavy.
for the price of a Leica M9-P, i could:
1) repair my vehicle
2) rent a small house in this area for a few months
3) buy an EOS 5D
4) develop like all 17 rolls of film i have sitting on my desk
5) with the leftover money, supply myself with gas/food for quite awhile.
but not being a leica owner is a much worse fate than being homeless and starving with a leica in your pocket
Yeah but they're huge and heavy.
Just buy a Fujifilm X-E2 instead. Then you get the great feel and can buy lenses, and it's smaller than the leica.

I have an X-E2 :D
Or just get a Sony A7 that also has a 24mp fullframe sensor like the Leica M240, but at 6 times lower price.
(this opinion comes from a Leica M8 owner FYI :v:)

Too bad the A7 has almost no good reasonably priced lenses atm apart from the genuine carl zeiss stuff which is pretty expensive. And the other lenses that are supposedly carl zeiss, but are just approved by the factory and shipped out.
and of course dpreview gives the olympus omd em1 best interchangeable lens mirrorless and best product of 2013 award
because ugly cameras and smaller sensors are the way forward!
That's why you buy adapters for your vintage gear

You can use manual lenses including Leica M lenses on the A7 too you know. That's the whole point of that camera.
And the system has just been released. When the Fuji X system came out there were also just three lenses (18mm, 35mm and 60mm macro). Give it some time and there will be more lenses.
Yeah, I would at least wait a bit until I'd buy the A7. The body itself peaked my interest quite a bit.
A7 will probably be my next purchase when I can afford it. If it was the same price as an X-E2 I would have got it, of course.

watched the wolf of wall street
i quite liked some of the cinematography, it probably wasn't intended to be amazing or some master of composition but generally the angles were nice esp the super wide anamorphic ones outside
i'm going to a club tonight and i will regret it all

Scorsese is a good director, the visuals were pretty good in that film. Absolutely over the top
picking up my first roll of portra tomorrow! :)
also, how to load a roll of film and bracketing in class tomorrow :(
Second semester started today and I'm finally taking some radio/tv/film classes for my major. So I'm excited to get inspired and start making things again.

the cinematography and lighting setups were top notch. can't say the same about some parts of the storyline or how some of it was played out but yeah, not a bad movie by any stretch
if anyone wants to win a nikon df or canon 6d or a7 borrowlenses is having a giveaway contest on their facebook
[sp]protip win the DF and sell it and then you can buy an A7 and have like $1000+ left over[/sp]
is the NEX-6 in your price range?
used on ebay is about okay, never too fond of the NEX range despite them being good cameras, bit bulky with the lens on
I'd even recommend the Nex 5n, quite cheap and still very high quality. Has a touch screen which helps for manual focusing legacy lenses (touch to enlarge). The 5R and 5T aren't much different, they just have wifi and a few more features, but nothing drastic.
The sigma 30mm 2.8 is an amazing lens that you can get for cheap if the focal length interests you
Can get both used for around £400 on ebay which is pretty good. When looking at a good first camera for an old flatmate we decided on a 5N for him and he loves it, bit bulky with most lenses but very good performance.
I'm thinking either go with an X100 or just have no camera. I need something better than a Lumia 920 for video. I'll think on it, cheers fellas.

Entered thx <3
I would still pick the a7r, just for the ease of it. Dat 36mp
I feel like you would have trouble selling the df at anything near full price to be honest lol
The Df is prob the most useless camera Nikon ever made. Only good thing is the sensor.
