The sensor isn't even amazing, it's got like 1/3rd of a stop better ISO performance than the D600. The reason Nikon used it in the DF was for people using old legacy glass. It's not a high res sensor, so people won't notice their old optics as being super outperformed by their new ones. The reason it's used in the D4 is because it's much easier for the buffer to handle 16MP files consecutively than it is for 24mp or higher. The D4 is primarily a sports body, so the MP count is reduced for the sake of the buffer, not because it's nikon's highest performing sensor (which is in the D800E for overall application)
I'd still rather have 16 mp over 36 mp if it meant cleaner high ISOs.
The df is a fashion accessory anyway, I don't get why Nikon didn't put in a D3300 sensor, sell it for 1/4 the price and become more available to their target market.
Or maybe they're trying to get a Beats headphones thing going where it shows off the fact you can afford something so expensive.
I think the X100s is overpriced for what it is. A fixed lens APS-C point and shoot that looks retro should cost no more than $800, nevermind $1300 which is ridiculous to me.

I mean the ISO performance is better, but not significantly so. DxO rates the DF at 3279 and the D800 at 2853. Although that's a big difference numerically, 2500 is 2/3rds of a stop higher than 1600, and 3200 is 1 full stop. So the difference between 2853 and 3279 is not even a third of a stop. To me that's not significant, there might be some lines of work where it is but I would personally prefer over 2x the spatial resolution.
wouldn't downsizing the 36mp files massively improve the noise in an image anyway
i found some m42 lenses today in my father's old camera shit (plus a huge bag of filters) is it worth getting an adapter for them just to fuck around?

I think DxO takes that into account, which is why the numbers are that close. At 100% on each camera the higher MP one will look noisier, but that's because it's zoomed in way more (not directed at you, just a general tidbit I'm throwing out there)

I would say yes. The adapters are pretty cheap and will at least give you an interesting experience.

You need to get those hot pixels checked out.

It's not a point and shoot and you're paying $1300 for a quality lens and sensor in a tiny body.

True.
Got tickets for this festival this year:

It's basically the biggest Electronica Festival in Germany, they never release a lineup before it starts and since it's on private grounds and ruled under "private club" laws, the police can't go into the area except by request, you can get pretty much every drug know to humankind in there.
2 years ago a friend of mine woke up there one morning and had a solid ring soldered around his wrist and doesn't know how he got it, still wears it.

Should I upgrade to LR 5? I am fine with LR 3 right now. But I'm not sure if there are new features/better features that would help out a lot in PP.
the main reason i got 5 is because 3 wouldn't accept sony a7 raw files
I got 5 and I've noticed nothing different from 4 tbh

The X100s isn't really a point and shoot

i tried to get onto my old account so I could delete it or something and steal the username to put on my current one but I guess someone got into the account at some point in the past 2 years and changed the password and security questions to chinese, so it sent a password change email to the yahoo account that was stolen. then I called yahoo and stayed on the line waiting for a representative for an hour before I got bored of their shitty low quality music and hung up.
edit:
and then calling the customer support and choosing the department tells you to call a number that is a "voice mailbox that has not been setup" or if you do get through they say "due to high call volumes we cannot help you right now blah blah please email us"
yahoo a bunch of cheeky cunts

I got to take photos of SDSU women's basketball game today. Since barely anyone comes I was able to kind of walk around and get different angles.
But next time when I shoot men's SDSU game, I'm confined to only one spot. Next to photographers from the San Diego Union tribune, Getty Images, USA today, etc.
I FEEL LIKE I DON'T BELONG :v:

I have my n4004s, but its all auto and the lenses suck. I think i'm just gonna go find a old p30 or something, its just beginning photo after all....

I've got 3 Minolta SR film bodies, an SRT101, SRT102, and XD11. If you are interested shoot me a PM
Shot a party for a clothing line on Monday night, just found out a load of the people there were members of fairly large bands or were models with a decently large following. Shit, wish I'd known and done some networking
Guess it's a reminder to always put 100% in because you never know who might be watching

haha that's brilliant
I don't get it.
i feel like my ability to take decent photographs is actually going backwards over time
relax man, we all have moments of not feeling any sense of progression but it takes time. just keep shooting ;))
