wow my school called a 3 hour delay tomorrow
each of my classes are going to be 30 minutes probably and there wont be a lunch period but no one knows because they dont have a schedule for a 3 hour delay
So hopefully I'll be doing an internship at a TV station or a video production company this summer, my mom know's people who have contacts in the local businesses.
I need some kind of portfolio to display my work. I've tried making my own site from scratch before, but just never had the time to make it look good and work well.
Any suggestions for the best way to do it? I want to display photography as well as my video work.
kind of in a twist here with the We Love Japan convention;
They have a limited amount of guests (200) due to safety hazard (fire). A lot of people who really were looking out for this festival/convention and are now leavin angry messages on the facebooks. The organisation is a real mess since it's their first project, I wouldn't be surprised if I ended up helping out backstage rather than photo report.
I also saw that I have to take a detour with public transport which means I have 4+ hours of travel time instead of 2. Plus I have to finance transport myself, which is 16+ euro. I could buy 4 rolls of Tmax with that which lasts me a month.
Another downer is the fact my school doesn't have external flashes for rent, I could've sworn I saw a few Nikon Speedlites in the classroom.
I'm not sure now if I want to go since for me its just a little side project to fill up my Saturday instead of smoking weed all day. If I don't go I could really make someone else happy who might've put hours of work into a cosplay costume. If I do go I could expand my network, even though I don't expect to bump into someone who could offer an actual paid job.
What's the take of you guys of this situation?? Would love some input from people who do photo reports.

Just gotta finish charging the battery, and then I'm all ready to go!
Hopefully selling my Pentax 67 today.
Funds for New York.
I blew off the reportage because I didn't receive any response to my previous e-mail within 24 hours. I'm all for promoting and reporting new and upcoming events but if there's one thing I detest it's the lack of communication. I have no idea what my privileges and obligations are as a photographer, my current contact's mother tongue isn't Dutch (the response e-mails I've received have terrible grammar) and the travel time is 4+ hours.
Maybe I've got too much high expectations but I just don't like spending money (which I don't have right now) when I'm not even sure if I'll return with a good selection of A+ shots.

I feel like Holland has a reputation that's only valid in the city of Amsterdam which is inhabited by mostly foreigners.
found a great flat, flatmates all pulled out at the same time. back to square one
I can't figure out the best way to setup my cargo collective. I suck at this stuff.

It is, for foreigners. Keeps more of our greater locations tourist free ;)
when i went to the netherlands i spent the least time in amsterdam
it's a nice city, but there's a lot more to see in the country

i like it i am there every day and probably moving there this year
Led a photography group hiking today, had to turn away about 90% of the group half way through and send them back down because we were going to be out after the sunset and almost none of them brought flashlights like I said in the email organising the trip (also it should be common sense, do these people think there's streetlights up mountains?). People even lied about having them, I don't know what they would have done if they got stuck in the boggy snowy terrain in pitch black.

Great trip tho.

Mates cart got broken into, jacked his laptop. Amazingly, they missed the 1Dx sitting on the seat...
rated winner because the missed the 1dx probably worth multiples of the laptop that got stolen, not because he got robbed of his laptop which still sucks
just wanted to make that clear
[editline]16th February 2014[/editline]
If someone stole my laptop, I don't know what I would be more concerned about, the fact they stole my laptop or the fact they have all the information on it. Is there a way for thiefs to easily bypass the password assuming they have no idea what it is, and then get all the stuff on hard drive?
He didn't have anything that wasn't already on his main computer, thankfully.
scary, i need to buy a hard drive and back up all my stuff
Dang that's awful, thank god he had the stuff backed up that could have been really bad for his music stuff if he didn't
Bummer, I would hate to have laptop stolen, and also to have my window broken. Glass shards and shit...
it sounds like that time where my car was broken into, but the thief only took my broken kids bike and half a pack of gum
he left the laptop

Staring to give up on editing. I just can't seem to ever nail the look I want. But then again half of the problem is that I keep trying to edit old photos, since I haven't been able to shoot new ones in a long time.
Found out my camera can't shoot in raw. I've had it for over 4 years and it was a low-end camera at that time, reckon it's worth buying a new one?
Depends. Do you use it a lot? Do you have editing software that can edit raw? Do you have the funds to buy one? Those kind of questions. A camera able to shoot RAW doesn't make it a good camera, it just makes the ability to edit all the aspects of a photo easier.
And when talking about portfolios, is the best idea to have photography divided into sets?
For example; People & Portraits, Nature, Misc.
Or should I just throw all my photography in the photography page and slim it down and only select the best of the best?
both
both
So how many photos is good for one set?
