Dreamt last night that I took a load of really sweet photos and got excited about posting them here. But then I woke up. Lame.
make you're dream's
~a reality~
Still waiting until i've got enough money to actually buy a dslr

Anyway one of my photos was of a victorian diving suit-wearing dwarf jumping out of a helicopter speeding through the grand canyon. Doubt i'll capture something like that irl.
Does anyone know of a way to upload pictures to flickr so that they are hosted on my account but not all over my photostream? Like maybe a set that is a separate entity from the photostream? Or any other websites that might be good for hosting 267 24mp photos because picasa kinda kills the quality and does some BS auto enhancing to the photos even though they are all edited.
Does anyone here have any tips/ideas when it comes to editing photos where the colours in the raw are all blocky and solid like a vector image? Shooting concerts and nightlife I've found this is a huge problem, particularly when it comes to peoples faces and there is only a single colour of light shining on them, usually red.
The only way I've found that works is by desaturating the colour by about -30 to -50 in lightroom, but it's still not ideal and looks a bit weird.

Here's an example, if anyone wants to give it a go please do, I've had sooo many photos made unuseable because it looks like someone's used the fill bucket on peoples skin in photoshop
Raw's here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5suuo88zmbgj3vb/IMG_1178.CR2

i needed them to be visible to the public but not crowding my photostream. I just made an alternate account

yeah that's a very difficult scenario, mostly because you lose so much dynamic range when your camera is using that high of ISO, and the colors are often out of the WB range of the camera.
i had a stab at it, was difficult and idk if it's even any better than yours. i tried pushing the WB more yellow and green, and then messing with the RGB curves individually.
ideally you just need a faster lens to get some more dynamic range from lower ISO, but that's not always possible.

you can hotlink private photos; if that's what you needed
Alternate account sounds like the best solution imho.
popphoto knows exactly what I want?

got two rolls of film back today, an ektar 100 from my mino 7000 + 24mm 1.4 and a superia 400 from my contax g1 + 45mm f2
the mino shots are mostly out of focus which bugs the fuck out of me because i bought a split prism just so i could get in focus photos with that lens. going to do a lesser roll of film in it next time and see if i get better results. on the contax front though, the photos that come out of that thing are unreal in their precision.

Where do you have your film developed? The only places that I can think of are Walmart (who don't return the negatives) and Tempe Camera (who are expensive as fuck.)
Anyways, too bad about the minolta. I'm always excited to see your contax stuff though.

i use costco because my parents have a membership. it's like $4 for 36 exposures developed and printed, and like $3 for 24 developed and printed.
they don't handle the negatives exceptionally well (come back curved and scratched) but i can't argue with those prices.
if you don't know anyone with a membership i would say CVS and Walgreens are decent, but hardly any cheaper than Tempe camera
go to san francisco, its the best city to visit, very compact and tourist friendly
also, if you have a car, drive up highway 1.
I just got back from a day trip to Santa Cruz. Took like a butt ton of photos, now time to edits. I wish my computer wasn't so old that it's struggling to run Lightroom sometimes.
i live in santa cruz

Oh damn! we should have met up. You know the photography section is such a nice little part of FP and it's quite refreshing in contrast some places like FULS!
what is fuls?
what is fuls?
It's the fashion thread in GD. Fix Up Look Sharp!. It's a very toxic place where everyone just argues and shits on everyone's personal style. It made me hate FP so much but this section showed me otherwise.
(In other news - thank you so much to those who donated at Christmas time - I've just bought myself an external hard drive).
The 1st step into sorting my shit out.
Now all those promises of content don't seem so empty any more.
Thank you again. It was so kind.
nice one mate, I really look forward to seeing some of your content. now you can tackle your digital backlog, you need to work on getting all that film developed haha!

Yeah, I can't wait to see SC from another photographers perspective. And yeah, fuck fuls. I've often said that it's not a fashion thread and more of a "how to dress a a conservative young European" thread.
P.S. - I was just walking down the street and found a brand new 8GB PNY USB flash drive still in the unopened packaging at a crossing on Broadway.
It pays to be observant. It just looked like another bit of litter on an NYC street. That's something I have to thank photography for. It opens your eyes and makes you notice the little things.

You intercepted a dead drop.
PP.S - I've transferred all of my movies off my computer's hard drive - about 200GB's worth, and my laptop is already noticeably faster.
Been to Aarhus, Denmark this weekend. Really interesting and also smelly city.
Does anyone know why people aren't allowed to bring in 'professional cameras' to music festivals like Coachella or Cali Roots?
I was just checking the cali roots FAQ and it said you can only bring in "non professional" cameras -.-
