Does anyone know why people aren't allowed to bring in 'professional cameras' to music festivals like Coachella or Cali Roots? I was just checking the cali roots FAQ and it said you can only bring in "non professional" cameras -.-
guess it means you can't sling in a 1DX + 300L
Those sound like good ideas. I was also thinking of 'challenging' myself and using film? Heh. I was just thinking of bringing my 7D + a 35MM before reading that I can't bring 'pro' cameras on the faq

Wouldn't want to end up having visitors taking better and more interesting pictures of the festival than the rented 'artists' now would we?? ;)) Just bring a disposable camera (or 2) and enjoy the festival.
Does anyone know why people aren't allowed to bring in 'professional cameras'
They don't want some kid with a 200mm lens getting a picture of an artist doing drugs and selling the shot for thousands of dollars while singlehandedly shutting down the event and getting everyone in legal trouble and ruining the reputation of the whole industry. it's a very fragile world
That's a really bad reason.

What defines a pro camera anyhow? I'd say it's like a 5D3 or so, any DSLR isn't a pro camera.
Any camera with interchangeable lens is considered professional by most events. /B/rother which part of Denmark are you from?
definitely take some disposables man, much safer (ie damage wise) and easier to use
Also, disposables are kick-ass fun to use. SNAPPY! SNAPPY!
/B/rother which part of Denmark are you from?
i live in a small town 55km outside of copenhagen
Ah well, will be there next year probably.
in copenhagen, yes? hit me up whenever haha
Yeah, the Symposium I visited changes location every year, I also might go to Copenhagen just for fun in the summer, I heard it's a fun city and then there's this weird republic or whatever it is. I'm in Kiel so it's quite close.
Kieluah
don't judge I was like 15 when I chose that nick
i don't think i can possibly have any credibility when it comes to judging usernames
are you talking about christiania? - i could show you around and what not
Yeah, friends of mine are always talking about it when Copenhagen comes up.
haha, it's such a nice place. there's an awesome atmosphere and really good vibes all around. it's a shame you're not allowed to take photos the most interesting places there though. a bunch of my mates and i kick back there after school 2-5 times a week.
i got email invited to this portfolio creator thing, idk if it's any good or not but thought i would pass on the information http://dropr.com/
yeah I got one too, signed up and imported a few of my sets from cargo
The fact that it's open to so many file types is cool
What's the catch though??
So the concept behind it is to have all your work from all your social media sites in one place? And they make it easy because you can just "drop" it in?
Uni say I have to take screen shots to show my computer based work (demonstrating technical knowledge of software like camera raw, photoshop and bridge) but every time i use the screenshot function on the uni macs it breaks due to errors, the fact that uni give us such little amount of space to store them (I'm talking like 20 screenshots then it completely stops working) or the fact that sometimes it decides to save them as blank files that contain nothing. h8in uni
Use your camera to take a pic of the screen lol
also its for a module that at its core is relevant to working as a pro photog (it teaches us file management, the importance of backups, workflow styles and some basic photoshop skill) but the actual work that we get set is just ridiculous and irrelevant. I'm designing a pair of posters for fuck's sake, on a degree course in photography. [editline]3rd March 2014[/editline] ^people have actually started doing that but it just seems like such a waste of time
