For those of you in the UK, just came across this on iPlayer: http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03xsjb9/photographing-africa I haven't seen it yet, but will defo be watching it over the next few days.
Don't give this the time - it's cheap and undermines the photographer. This is far better. http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03y31m5/Helmut_by_June/
oh that puts my mind at ease, thanks!
I emailed the company that makes my earbuds (Etymotic) because the foam ear tips I like were torn and they said they aren't covered under warranty but they still mailed me 2 pairs anyway, and then I somehow lost those in a pile or two of papers in my kitchen and emailed again and they sent 3 pairs this time and the business card of the guy who I emailed about it the second time. Cool companies like this make me happy.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03y31m5/Helmut_by_June/
I watched the photographing africa doc and really enjoyed it? How do you think it is cheap/undermining?? Gonna watch that Helmut one now
Just finished watching it and it was cool. He has a pretty controversial attitude, but in what I feel is a good way.
This subforum is sacred.
Wish I could watch it :(
anybody watched The Act of Killing? pretty damn depressing but needs to be seen tbh

Here is another doco on iPlayer about the photographer Albert Watson (he photographed that iconic image of Steve Jobs holding his chin in the latter stages of his Jobs' life). http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b03y85dl/What_Do_Artists_Do_All_Day_Albert_Watson/ I haven't watched it yet, but I will. Looks good.
I watched the photographing africa doc and really enjoyed it? How do you think it is cheap/undermining?? Gonna watch that Helmut one now
I did enjoy it too. But I felt that Harry Hook wasn't a natural in front of the video cameras. And I believe it affected his picture taking. He is a documentary and portrait photographer - with a very specific ~NatGeo~ style of shooting. It is not covert, but it is certainly opportunistic. the Helmut one is a pretty fascinating portrait of both his character and life as a photographer. If anyone is ever in Berlin, I cannot recommend the Helmut Newtown Museum enough.

who else here is on r/photography? [editline]15th March 2014[/editline] on a different note apparently my d7100 has more dynamic range at iso 1600 than 800, and the D600 has more at 6400 vs 3200
My camera bag right now: - Canon EOS 6D - Sigma 24mm f/1.8 - Canon 50mm f/1.4 USM - Canon 85mm f/1.2L II USM I challenge thee, darkness

i just wanna pack it all in like
i bought a flash today idk much about flash but the TTL is like way overpowered which is lame
nerf ttl plz
Water resistance needs a general buff
I think I ruined a really good shot looking for the missing bit of sticky tab at the end of a roll :/
fuck its hard to decide on a camera [editline]16th March 2014[/editline] is mirror lock-up only useful for long exposures?
I can't think of another use. [editline]16th March 2014[/editline] Oh right, filming.
I just might cop another OM-10 for 20 euro including: bag, Zuiko 50mm f/1.8 v.2, Zuiko 135mm f/3.5, manual adapter and a few filters. Mainly buying this for the 135mm because my current has a slightly busted apperture ring and doesn't lock onto the mount, plus I've been looking for a manual adapter for months ever since my OM-20 died.
i bought a flash today idk much about flash but the TTL is like way overpowered which is lame
I don't think I've ever used TTL and don't know anyone who does It's like auto on the camera its always off in some way or another
fuck its hard to decide on a camera [editline]16th March 2014[/editline] is mirror lock-up only useful for long exposures?
It's more useful on medium format cameras than 35mm because the mirror slap is immense. So it will give you cleaner exposures around 1/80th and longer probably. That is if you are using a tripod too, probably not going to be used handheld
hey guys I've been on and off with photography for while and i've only used a kit lens. I want to branch out and try something new, but have no idea what kind of lens I should use any suggestions?
The kit lens is the shit, keep going with it.
