Worked on it a bit more. Really love how the ending came out. Gonna work on it more tomorrow, polish it up and give it more flow. Right now it kind of goes from one idea to the next, and I'm not liking the mid melody section as much right now. If anyone has any ideas or tips they want to throw around, please let me know!
Hello chaps/lasses,
Just finished a mashup of a few genre's, primairily showcasing the things i've learned till now.

Newest version. Liking how it came out. Dunno if I'm going to leave the length as is or add on to it, maybe make different movements with more focus on the different sections. But for now, this is more or less the final product. Just need to 'bug fix' and polish, and change some of the notes and stuff. Other than that, I think it turned out okay. Let me know what you think

a more old-school type beat, if you will
It sounds good but I think it would sound better if the piano didn't become quiet so quickly.
I really love the intro, it sounds really surreal and gives me a 'Mercy of the Living' by Bear McCreary sort of vibe. The progression on that bass is really nice.
The drums are the best part but the rest sounds quite dissonant and chaotic.
Yeah it really does sound like deamau5 but I like how you still bring your own yet not very deadmau5y pluck sounds in at around ~2:30.
I wasn't a huge fan of it until the bass came in, that bassline is really nice. Good job.

Hey guys I've been working on a remix for some competition and since the deadline isn't for another month I want to get as much feedback as possible before I upload a final version. Here is the current wip:

Intro is really nice and warm. I like how you made it your own but you can still feel the original. The only feedback I could give is maybe diversify the plucks and make the vocals a bit louder.

Been working on this for the last hour or so.

I would like some C&C on the mix and the structure on these industrial glitchy things.

I never got any C&C for these.

Here's a part of my unfinished remix, what do you guys think?
EDIT: didn't see your post TFWO, sorry
I am in love with those glitch sounds you used in One Yeers, and the entire song has a really nice ambient sound. The intro of XCell kind of reminded me of something I would hear in Portal 2, and once again the glitchy sounds are great. Can't really find anything you could improve on with these two, all I have to say is that it gets a little repetitive, you could try using a completely different set of percussion on certain parts of the song to change things a little.

finally, someone whose not making something 'electronic' or 'snyth' or whatever the hell you call it.
I liked it. it doesn't really build though for the end, like I didn't like the sudden jump in volume near the end (look at the sound waves).
I love how you make the main idea very repetitive, but it doesn't feel like that with all the extra stuff in to counter the melody.
mind I ask what program you use?

I understand. Also, I can tell it's for a Portal mod. Which is a good and a bad thing. I know you're trying to mimic the feel of the Portal universe that Morasky created (which, to be fair, is one of the only ways I could imagine it), but imo you should try and add your own ideas. It sounds too similar to Portal 2. If that's what you're going for, then bravo! If not, I'd try and add your own flavor to the Portal universe. Don't be afraid to experiment.

Understandable, to fair a lot of my inspiration has been coming from a guy name Philip Glass, look him up if you don't know who he is. He was one the pioneers of minimalist music movement, which I feel in some ways reflects what the Portal Soundtrack is. Thanks for the feedback though, its always nice to hear other view points whether their good or bad.
no problem. I really liked it. keep it up
Song I've been working on, using vocal audio from some of Alan Watt's lectures
I can't use Soundcloud because my Uni blocks it, so it's on my DB. Should play in your browser!

Extremely amateur WIP. I fiddle with the project when I have some free time and this is the first version I feel ok about uploading to a sound cloud.
Don't know what I want to do with the drop off yet, but here ya go..

Newest track, very The Verve inspired. Still don't have enough confidence in my voice so I tend to end up drowning it out with reverb, but it kind of fits for this genre I suppose.

Sounds really rich and organic, I like it a lot!

I've been working on putting this song together for a while, I think I'm somewhat happy with the product now and I'm hoping maybe I can get some feedback from you guys. It's a Nosaj Thing inspired track as that kind of stuff has been something I've been listening to a lot recently so let me know if you have any suggestions on what I should do with it!

Really love this sort of thing, what sort of genre is it building towards? Sounds really IDM'y.

Been trying to incorporate these classic samples in a track of mine, here's a WIP, what do you guys think?

It sticks on the same few chords for the entirety of the song, so while the song does have dynamic contrast, it isn't very apparent. More defined phrasing could go a long way to make the song have a bigger impact. Good atmosphere!

how do I time signature
Come on guys, this thread needs more feedback! Quite a few posts with no feedback to songs above it.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/83454840/Images/Song12.mp3
Really, really nice build! That speech fits perfectly too. Did you start with the speech and build the song around that? I'd suggest that the attack on the first piano part is a little high, the piano sounds quite bright and harsh. Maybe play it with less velocity, but then bring the volume back up, it'll sound softer. I would tone down the white noise too, little to much imo. But overall really interesting, excited to hear where this goes!

The piano sounds quite cheap and dry at the moment. Getting a new piano sample library might be an idea, or just put a little reverb on the current one so it sounds higher quality. The drum pattern is interesting, but I'm not sure how the piano and the feel of the drums fit. I would cut off some of the notes too, instead of letting them all ring- especially around 1:17 onwards it gets rather nasty with those close notes ringing together. Maybe add some more instruments too, some extra body, like pads or background stuff to give it some space and atmosphere.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/438223/Dyes.mp3
Feels a bit like Bonobo, if he did DnB :v: The chords are really nice, and I like that reverse sample. Only thing I would tweak would be the flute sample at 0:34, it sounds quite off key. But it sounds good when you use it elsewhere in the track. Apart from that, really love the atmosphere. Finish this!

how do I time signature
Interesting, reminds me of Autechre. Fun trying to work out the time signature and polyrythms. The blocks of chords are nice, if a little dry. Wasn’t expecting it when you change the chord sequence at 0:40 and it starts to go up, really nice. One criticism would be the instruments themselves sound kind of basic. One thing about Autechre that makes them work is their sound design, it’s unique sounds playing interesting patterns. Especially at the beginning it sounded kind of thin. Got better with those drums starting at 0:58, thickens it up a bit. But that’s just my opinion.
But yeah, interesting stuff in this thread. Keeps me inspired and wanting to make new stuff. Like this new thing:
