I can dig this! You could definitely make something pretty cool from the vocal stuff. The actually song itself is eh but I think you know that :P That track is fantastic man, the synths are so warm. It's so good! Here's a new little neurofunk sort of thing I started today: EDIT: Fixed the really shitty mastering (ish).
That's a great atmosphere you build during the intro. Definitely gives me that neuro vibe! I like it. In terms of the drop, the main stabbing bass could do with some kind of low pass filter and some modulation going up and down, try and play with that. Drum wise, layer a more subby kick drum under the one you've got now. Sidechain it to your sub bass line to give it some room, then EQ it to fit with the other kick by removing it's top end accordingly. Also, a more defining snare with a little bit of reverb on it will make a huge difference in bringing out those drums. Try and get one that fills more of the midrange to complement the one you have already, then EQ each snare to have their own space. Slap on a multiband compressor to your drum bus for extra punch. If you want, adding some creepy atmospheric effects can also really build on the neuro feel. Hope some of my points make sense. You have got a good track going there :)
Trying to regain my creative workflow I kinda crashed in all aspects of life for a bit there, had some down time but i'm picking things back up quicker each time this kinda thing happens, Trying to stay focused on what I do so back on the horse, a relatively simple electronic track, still got work to do on it and i've got ideas on how to improve it, but that's in terms of mixing.. I was hoping for a bit of feedback for reference cause i'm running into that same old creative wall as always with this one [editline]7th October 2014[/editline]
I dig the atmosphere in this a lot. The little reversy bits when the melody comes in are rad. Here's a tune I started yesterday. Not mixed down yet really. https://soundcloud.com/sonis/coffee-steam/s-Be133
Rundown on my thoughts as I listen to this: i actually quite like this, there's some aspects that I wasn't entirely fond of but it's pretty captivating nice music to chill and drink coffee too, i really like the ambient high pitch synths, very nice with the dru work the strong lead synth comes in pretty unexpected, as eyefunk pointed out, not sure if vibe I like or dislike that, but it was neat, and progresses quite nicely from there into something quite funky not huge on the peak section around 2:35 onwards, bit repetitive and started losing interest a little, not that there's anything particularly wrong with it it could just use some adjustments in terms of flow the drum work overall is pretty nice, definitely make sure you get your synth mixes right, the syncopated riff's towards the end of those chorus synths or whatever I really enjoy but I feel it goes back to the slow carry/ambient vibe too quickly and leaves me a little unsatisfied overall, it's pretty sweet and has the potential to be something pretty fucking awesome if you don't give up on it just yet, i'd personally suggest a bit more anticipatory build, the surprise isn't necessarily bad but it does feel a bit like it comes out of nowhere, lengthier peaks with those strong synths, especially once the rhythm gets a bit more hyped up, please please please, those bits sounded great and it was worth sitting through the chill to get to it, those parts seemed pretty stand out and you don't want to under emphasize them leaving your listener feeling dissatisfied or unfulfilled with it if that makes sense and possibly cut back the lengthiness of the in-between sections by a tad, though I didn't mind sitting through it the first time leading up to that unexpected synth section, the second time round, even with the bass lead peak part, it just felt a little too lengthy to get back to it i'm not hugely fond of that strong bass lead tone, it's intriguing for what it is, don't ditch it, it works, i think it's the levels/mixing aspect of it that I found a bit disagreeable but anyway, that's just like, my opinion, keep on with it either way and get it finished, it's nearly there [editline]7th October 2014[/editline]
MAN I'm loving this. Great work on the percussion, the panning works perfectly and the beat strongly drives the song. i know my vocals are very rough and not great sounding but I really wanted to do something w/ vocals and I couldn't find anyone to sing for me so... yeah here, please give me criticism. I wrote this a while ago, but I really want to continue it. here's another
As I listen World: This has a pretty trippy atmosphere but I find it oddly satisfying, i like those distortion/builds, the bass seems a bit synthetic/out of place sounding in the context; it's not bad, i just feel like it needs some orchestral drum work to back the tone of it, the vocals in terms of tone sound fine the way you've done them, they suit the atmosphere, but they need improvement on the pitch itself, you don't necessarily have to re-record to do that, you could just do some basic pitch correction on your samples but honestly, props for using your own voice in the first place The second track is neat I love the atmopshere of it, and the melody is quite pretty in a way without breaking the atmosphere very dreamy and once again, pretty trippy. Nothing I can particularly offer criticism on although I did notice the tone of the melody at points had some slightly off sounding backing especially in the higher pitch notes, a tiny bit awkward but barely noticeable, not enough to distract me too much from the flow of the song it self and in a way it kinda supports the atmosphere you're good at hitting that sorta vibe in a way that follows through with a nice sense of flow it's not often I find pieces in that kinda atmospheric style particularly enjoyable
Just finished up a sad remix of a 2 Chainz classic: lol
Hey bud, much like christmas you're expected to give as much as you get, there are some tracks above that I'm sure would love to be heard and getting some feedback from you :) I'm sure either of the ones you'll give feedback to will be happy to return the favour, as per the rules of this subforum and thread.

Snare could do some boosting around 3khz area to add some clarity. I'd probably throw some hi-hat percussion in there as well for some more texture. I've started work on free EP/Album. It's going to be a mixture of different EDM genres. I have a lot of free time, so I'll be working hard on trying to get this album to sound really nice and I'm drawing inspiration from Zhu, Porter Robinson, Flume & a few Melbourne Bounce/Dutch Artists. This is also good way to work on improving my skills and learning new things. Soundcloud Playlists don't work properly on facepunch so I'll have to do the tracks individually. Some thoughts as i listened through it a couple of times: Vocal sample is too dominant. It doesn't leave much room for the drums to come through. Try and EQ it so that there is room for the drums to come through. In particular the clap gets lost at times, which is a shame because the drum break is really solid! Bass patch is great with a clean sub. From a stylistic point of view, I think a very short/no attack on the bass will make it much more stabby and bring out the groove, but sound design is great! Alternatively, modulate the attack so some stabs have a short attack, and maybe every 4th beat or something could have the attack increase? Your plucky lead also feels a little wooden, tighten up the EQ so only the necessary frequencies are there but it still keeps it's warmth. Chorus might give a better feel. Have you thought about a few cymbal crashes and white noise risers? That can sometimes help build energy, just be careful not to have them too overpowering. Bridge from 2:55 is really cool though, that's my favourite part :)
sounds good, but your snare needs more oomph to it, it needs to sound sharper to really get that hype going i did 2 new recording tests recently, uploaded them only today because i dunno since this'll be the first time i'm doing music with actual instruments i want to get the recording stuff right before i start with making the actual music first is a lo-fi acoustic recording test, which is how i'm going to make the intro for the album the buzzing is too loud, gotta fix that, though second is another dronetest, i'm really happy with how this is side of the album is turning out i just have to figure out how to make my drones last longer now
anybody? pretty please?
anybody? pretty please?
For drones use a compressor that will raise the volume of the plucks so they slowly fade out or something.
build-up is pretty lacking and i feel overall it should have more bass, especially when the breakbeats hit, but otherwise sounds good, the 7/4 beat flows well and doesn't stick out at all

It feels like there's a bit too much going on between the layered synth and the drums, perhaps cutting some of the synths out when the drums come in will help. The high end on the drums is pretty painful to, put some EQ on it I think. Threw this together in an hour or two, going to cover it with my usual singer (but she refused to do jazz this time) so I'm trying to decide how to make it different to the original:

Mess around with it a bit more to make it more original sounding. cool buildup actually, didn't really expect it until the vocal sample. while I'm not one that's huge on dubstep at all, you seem to have a hard time focusing on a specific sound that you're going for throughout the song. It gets really dark at certain points, but then some happy chords are thrown in. The second drop is very weak and needs work. There's not enough buildup into it, and the drop itself was a bit lackluster. Besides that generic kick and snare, you got some cool sounds in this song that I didn't really expect, so thumbs up. It's like bipolar dubstep. New thing, it's a WIP (as in it isn't finished song structure-wise) and I need help deciding where to go with this. But its cool. Yeah i need to work on the drops a bit, thanks for the feedback. :) As for your track I think it could use some more compression on some parts. Some sounds are extremely loud (metal clang) and some aren't. The clang to kick segment is a little weird, maybe the sounds don't fit well together? Good job though production value wise.

However, the track itself sounds as if it suffers from too much frequency boosting on the master channel, whether it be compression or something else. The part at 0:18, the kick is overpowering the instrumental and at 1:10, the instrumental is overpowering the kick. There needs to be a balance, maybe could use more sidechaining. As for your track, I think the intro should focus more on the piano, maybe you could also incorporate it into the drop somehow? Seems like a solid track otherwise.
