Here is another track from my album. Curious to hear what y'all think!
Pretty nice track I like the bass that said I think the drums could be brought out slightly more, the snare sounds like it's lacking in the high end.
So recently I start working a full time job and haven't had much time to write some music. Its been over a month since I've written anything, so I decided to start working on music again. Here is a work in progress orchestral piece. I'm pretty sure this would fit great in a movie or game. A Brilliant Idea - (Title is also a work in progress)
Great as always man.
beat thing: some weird noises going on because of a exporting error from fl studio, I think it doesn't like one reverb plugin I'm using but they kinda fit so whatever
Loving the drums man, super snappy, this one has a really chilled vibe to it. _______________________________________________________ I started this one out just with a progression I liked, it's pretty basic at the moment.
I like this, it's deep. The arp-y synths are great, and the background ambience is very nice and subtle too. The rhythm of the progression is cool also. I'm working on a punky offspring kinda style thing for a bit of fun:
I started this one out just with a progression I liked, it's pretty basic at the moment.
This is probably the first house track I've heard over the past few years that I actually liked. Sounds like music for driving at night. The percussion starts to get drowned out after the second half, but other than that, this whole thing is sick.
read the title; if you want feedback for your song you need to give feedback to other people
Ok, thanks for the heads up. I will make sure to do that next time.
I started this one out just with a progression I liked, it's pretty basic at the moment.
I really like how the chord changes aren't on the beat. I feel like, in the third chord of the progression, the bass should play a different note. I can't be bothered to actually figure out what the chords are, but play around with it and see if anything a couple notes higher/lower sounds better. Also, the mix feels like it's missing some sub. The whole thing is pretty cool though, I dig it.
I'm working on a punky offspring kinda style thing for a bit of fun:
I'm a bit out of my depth (can't say I listen to punk much), but something about the crash cymbals is throwing me off. Generally it's a good idea to stick one at the beginning of any new phrase, which is missing a few times. I really wish I had more to say, but it sounds good to me.
ayy wip:
I'm getting a great vibe from this. I'm not sure what name to give it, other than "the kind of stuff you find at inpuj." I'm bad at names. Only crit is that I have a hard time following the groove until the drums come in. Maybe thats what you're going for, but a simple, very subtle rhythm in the background could give it a bit more structure. Cool stuff. --- I decided it would be fun to try and make a song entirely with recorded sounds. Unfortunately, all I have is a webcam mic, so the whole thing turned out sounding like it's being played in another room. It's also really weird. Enjoy?

I've always loved sort of quiet and abstract music like that, and this isn't an exception.
I'm working on a punky offspring kinda style thing for a bit of fun:
I'm honestly not a fan of this sort of punk, but I can appreciate it as being a quality example of the style. I do love the little drum rolls in it though. Someone teach me to make sample based chorus instrumentals that aren't awful

In the end, you will not receive feedback if you do not GIVE feedback, nor will you get any listens. Please follow the rules, and edit your post! Thanks. Thanks for editing your post!
Someone teach me to make sample based chorus instrumentals that aren't awful
I'm really liking the hip-hop vibes in this. Nice old school beat with a simple chord structure. It does get old after the first 30 seconds though. Maybe try moving the chord progression in a different route after a while? Also, try varying your beat up a bit, give the listener something to find!
I decided it would be fun to try and make a song entirely with recorded sounds.
I forgot to comment on this on facepunch so here: This is really atmospheric. I really enjoy this kind of stuff, especially with a neat concept like this. Now, the only issue I have with the song is the claps. Those make it very obvious that you are just clapping like, 5 feet away from the mic, and it subtracts from the atmosphere. I really love the panning, and use of delay/phaser to widen some of the sounds, and to make them a bit wider. It's a technique I use a lot!
New song I made. Kinda obnoxious but it was very fun to make.
-snip you fixed it- Anyways, your song is a bit weird mixing-wise. Everything feels far back and muffled. The last change at the end was nice though! And I'm not going to lie, those vocals are awful. --------- OK, now that that is over with... This is my first try at making black metal. I only recently got into metal like, a couple weeks ago, so my knowledge on what it should sound like is a bit weak. Give me suggestions on where I should go with this, and what I should do with it!

Keyboard is still broken so I resorted to playing with myself, it's pretty fun and it allows you to find a lot of new things to improve. I also discovered that baritone/soprano saxes can be emulated by using an alto sax tuned an octave resp. up/down :v: Anyway, here's a Thelonious Monk tune I sax'quartetted .
The drums seem so far away, it's good for an intro or something like that, but I'm not sure if you should do it all the time.
Hmm, I see what you mean. I will remove all reverb from it and see how it sounds.

The piano and vocal samples and shit sound like they belong in the background under something more interesting. Feels like this would fit as main menu music for some horror game. The melody took a second to get used to, but it sits well after listening to it a couple of times. That might just be me being afflicted by my own "style" though. Working on something new. I'd probably like to record vocals for this at some point, gotta write them down first. I'm an alto sax player myself, so this one is pretty interesting to me. Never thought of lowering the octaves on my sax recordings, will probably try it. The "soprano" sounds very nice, has a haunting feel since it mimics a soprano while still having qualities of the alto (adds a bit of a clarinet and melodica feel). Sounds quite in tune, not sure if you adjusted or it naturally came out top notch. (do let me know.) The melody is swinging which is essential but the other saxes sound a bit classical. Would love to hear this again with the other saxes being more into the swing feel and with dynamics. Awesome job!
Here's some shit I've been working on over the past few days. https://soundcloud.com/masonkaskiw/spectator-wip/s-ZcAwo
Trippy groove and very interesting mixture of sounds. The only thing i'm not digging is the volume, everything seems to be around the same loudness. Mix it up and make a nice sound layer, give each element its space and this will bang more. The bass is rad.
Also, I took some of the advice you guys gave me here about my other tracks that I'm working on. The latin percussion is a bit loud for my taste. Second track, liking the harmony and composition. You have a really interesting style, this tracks affirms it. Maybe you could add a filtered reggaeton drum beat at the intro (dembow). Third track, not my fave of the three (but that's just a matter of taste). Sounds a bit more simple than the others. ------------ Haven't produced anything in a long while, looking to kick my previous project into gear. Going for a french cafe vibe for the next Ep, this is the WIP for the intro. Pretty sure the volumes are a bit low at the moment. Will probably add a piano for the second half (when the guitar stops). http://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2c-jSlmIaiYZVpXd01FM3BBZ28
No manual tuning involved :P I did fear for the "soprano" sax tuning, as anything out of tune would be magnified if you raise it by an octave. As you said, I should let the other saxes do more interesting stuff, but it's hard to coordinate without writing an arrangement. It really is the next step to improving it though.

By far the best of the three. The only thing I might suggest is that during the main section, that clangy hi-hat could be turned down a little bit. I like the instrumentation in the second track, it's got quite a nice flow to it, but there's something about the processing on that vocal that makes it stand out weird. Maybe just weird frequencies from the effect? I'd play with some eqing and such if you intend to continue with it. you'll be the next pendulum in no time. I could say the same thing in the third track about that harpsichord-sounding lead. Three minutes is a long time to be listening to a sound like that, and it's quite repetitive. ~~ So I made this electro track a while back and dropped the 'beat it' vocal over top for fun. The result:
