What's a program I could use to start making some stuff? I have ideas in my head, I just don't know what programs would give me the best output. [editline]11th December 2014[/editline]
I really enjoy the atmosphere, there's a lot of nice synths going on in the background which add a lot to it. The low mids feel a bit muddy, but only very very slightly. I think it might be because of the snare, but it's hard to tell. In the 2/4 part the drums are a bit too weak/don't punch through. I'm having fun writing songs with real instruments so I tried some metally thing: May continue it.
The beginning of the song sounds sorta, kinda, similar to The Metal by Tenacious D; with the pauses and the note progression. I agree with the other poster, jammed out to this :v:
Finally got around to changing the progression on this breakcore track aswell as some other things. Does it sound nicer now?
The drums sound really well done. You obviously put a lot of time into it to create such a chaotic yet controlled sound. The only real problem I have with the song is your obvious focus on the drums. Everything else just kind of feels slapped on in a sense. It's not bad or anything, it just feels separated and kind of awkward. ---- My friend and I made another song. This time we're trying to be as dark as possible. It was fun. (Everything is recorded, we had a ton of fun with that.) Here's another dark thing I made today. I focused on percussion.

listened to this earlier when you put it up on soundcloud it's got the same problem as your noise song earlier, the mixing has very weird priorities the main chug at both the starting section and the second half is given way too little priority, all the various whiffs and wooshes are much louder than they should be, which really throws me off the mood the build up to the second half is great, but once it finally hits, the kick is really ruined by how much more quiet and less intense the guitar and drums are to the actual build up the spoken word is fantastic though and i can really feel the rhythm of the track, it's just the mixing that's pulling it down
Here's another dark thing I made today. I focused on percussion.
This one was interesting but I feel like there needed to be some other percussion driving the rhythm alongside the bassdrum (guess its stylistic tho-- it has a more psychedelic/trancy aesthetic the way it is now). Something about the mixing sounds odd but I can still hear most of what's going on and the range sounds pretty well covered.
i made this, also
Great grooves albeit short. Acid w/recorded shit & a sudden change of pace Designed a synth that sounded like some kind of string instrument and threw some recorded percs in. Some pad work. Not much put into this one yet.

And that melancholy synth coming in @ around 2:18 is perfect. I haven't posted anything here in a while myself, but I found this track I did back in August but only just now remembered: All sounds are from a bunch of vinyl I bought in a second-hand store.

In the second part try boosting the midrange of whatever bass guitar you're using. The low end kind of muds up the mix a lot. Experiment thing sound cool but it feels like more should be in. Try adding alot to the drums. Thats the breakbeater in me talking tho so take it as you like. [editline]14th December 2014[/editline]
Love the atmosphere of this one. At least before the drop - I'm listening as I'm commenting. For some reason I really want to hear tons of reverb on this. 2:36 is where my favorite synth comes in. It sounds like you're merging the best of the 80's with modern house. The last boom is a bit strange. It sounds too... "breathy"? I was expecting a strong kick sound, whereas this sounds a bit out of place.

I love the crazy break sequences you come up with, man. I want to be able to do this nonsense. I think the chimes only sound good with the drums, though. When the chimes are alone, it's just random dissonance that really makes me want the song to advance. This isn't anything serious, but I might pursue it. It's an attempt to match the collected randomness of Lemaitre's music.

Also for breakbeats I can give you a method that simplifies it by removing alot of unnecessary steps if you're interested. Do you slice up each drum sample individually from a loop?

Or perhaps used some of the chord changes from the end where the last of the lyrics were? I'm not sure but it's you're thing anywise. I really like the drums and flow of the words though. It's not something I'm used to hearing but it sounds rather nice! Oh, and I love the name, Land Before Rhymes. just, yes. However it has some really great sounding ideas. Find a refrain or break that you can have for alternative melodies and chord progressions and you'll easily have a whole song! The offset bass reminds me of my bass, Aliums, haha. Love the harmonies around 1.22. Really smooth transitions. 2.03 sounds awesome.
*Referring to Nexus 130* Fuck thats super nice. I love the synths! What do you use?
That song is mostly ReFX Nexus. Sometimes I drafting a song with a stereotypical instrument and an automation clip for cutoff as opposed to an actual volume slider. It gives the fade in and out more character! I've never been that good with trap-style beats. Lovin' the synth work on this! My only actual gripe is that it *does* sound like your typical trap track, which is fine if it's for practice, but you said you make stuff that "doesn't really fit" and I think it would be pretty neat if you tried to incorporate your personal style into this track! All of this is my opinion of course, and I'm no pro musician. So take anything I say with a grain of salt. Are you planning on adding vocals to this? I think it would add a lot :) [t]http://i.imgur.com/84IVC6J.jpg[/t] (thumbed bcuz huge) I've decided to step back into my uncomfortable zone and try and make an electro-house type track. I feel like you could make this longer and make it step up in tension, probably with a few more instruments and an overall more symphonic powerful thing.
Am I the only one who misses Kruma here?
