Very chill, liked it.
That was pretty weird, but I can dig it.
Ooo, I liked this. I wish it was longer as I had it jamming, while I was studying some things.

This is pretty amazing. I honestly don't know how you could make it any better, is it complete? If not, i would love to hear some orchestral drums in there.

I actually just finished writing it. Its going to be used in the mod I've been writing music for. Portal 2 Repercussions ((created by Lamarr) the guy several post up) I'm going to get my brother to master it before I upload the new version, since he is majoring in audio engineer at his university. We make a pretty good team actually :p .
Here you go gentlemen.
I like it, but I think it switches ideas every four bars, whereas I liked to see each of them develop a little more. At least before the drop - I'm listening as I'm commenting.
For some reason I really want to hear tons of reverb on this. 2:36 is where my favorite synth comes in. It sounds like you're merging the best of the 80's with modern house.
The last boom is a bit strange. It sounds too... "breathy"? I was expecting a strong kick sound, whereas this sounds a bit out of place.
I love the crazy break sequences you come up with, man. I want to be able to do this nonsense. I think the chimes only sound good with the drums, though. When the chimes are alone, it's just random dissonance that really makes me want the song to advance.

This isn't anything serious, but I might pursue it. It's an attempt to match the collected randomness of Lemaitre's music.
The bass is so crispy in this? How do you do it? The whole thing just sounds nice and percussion-y
I feel like everything I make is so muddy.

I liked that background synthbass very much. It had a kinda SciFi/cyberpunk feel to it (And mixing any classical stuff with synth elements is mindblowingly amazing in general), which will fit the theme of Portal 2 very well I believe. The track also sounds somehow fuller now, but I can't really tell why because I don't have the old version to compare. I liked it alot, it is kinda hard to give criticism to something well done like that.

This is actually really nice and relaxing. It doesn't really feel muddy, it just feels soft, like a cloud or something. I'm not really good at feedback, but that's kind of what I get from listening to it.
On the other hand, the snare is kind of ever so slightly loud, but other than that it's very nice to listen to.
Um, I made this yesterday with the demo version of FL Studio, and as the demo is, you can't go back to your save. So, it's not exactly a WIP, but ya know.

It's kind of difficult for me to judge mixing when it's not something I've made, where I can play around with EQ myself, and see where I think things fit in the best, but I feel like you neglected the high end a little. It's not that muddy as it is, but if you want it to be a bit cleaner, I'd suggest bringing the lead synth up a little higher, and maybe making that other synth (the one you had playing alongside the drums at the end) a little lower. Lowering the volume of the reverb would help too. I like to keep things a little sloppy in my music though, so it's fair enough if you want to take my suggestions on mixing with a grain of salt.
Aside from mixing, the drums sound real plain and dry to me. And on the bright side, the melodies are nice and relaxing, and I like the sound of the lead synth.

This is probably one of the better tracks I've heard from you here. It's very well-produced, and assuming the mod you made it for is anything like the original Portal 2 atmosphere-wise, I'd imagine it would fit in perfectly, especially once that low synth starts playing.

Well, it does sound like you threw a low pass over your entire song's synths, so I wouldn't doubt the fact that it sounds muddy. Plus, the drums stand out a bit too much in the mix, due to the synths not being able to reach anything but lows and low mids. It's a really cool song honestly, just fix the mixing and it'll be great.
I kind of imagined it going well with that Ryan Gosling film... Drive, was it?

Anyways, here's a song I'm working on. I'm getting tired of trying to do heavy things, so now I'm back to writing more calm songs.
I don't know if adding guitar would sound that great on top of this, because I feel like there's enough going on already. Great sounds, crisp and full. Great mixing as usual, as well as fun.
So. Another Land Before Rhymes track. Christmas themed, though more on the "blood of Christ" style. Please don't take this too seriously.
The constantly panning drums distract a lot from a track with such a huge potential, the calm part in the beginning and ending are by far the best parts with the heavy part in the middle sounding very out of place. I think a lot of the lack of punch comes from it not sounding dirty enough, and with the wobbling sort of synth just has a much too happy of a sound for it to really have a good place in it. I really enjoy the snare hit though, and the panned very echoing handclap is a nice touch :)

Las year I made an EP and I fully plan on continuing on it now that I have the time to do so, I'm thinking of expanding with more tracks, but for the moment it might be a good idea to fully finalize these four tracks.
Any thoughts whatsoever on mixing, composition, structure and sounds chosen (I want to keep it simple with only three instruments in the mix, but if you have an idea on what could be added then I would be delighted to hear about it) are extremely welcomed.
The compositions themselves are great Skeeter, but when I quickly hit play between all four tracks it almost sounds like it's all part of a single composition. I'd try switching out the synths and/or drums for some of the tracks so that it feels a little more diverse.
I'm with healthpoint here. Whilst those 4 tracks are awesome compositions, it's all similar sounding and nothing really makes them stand out. I'm having a hard time hearing the snare in the mix (the hi-hat is a lot louder).

The drop is sounding a bit bare at the moment, but I'm gonna play around with it later and try and switch it up a bit!

I really enjoy the trancey bass in this. The piano could be just a little louder. The chords made from the piano and the bass are nice, and the choir / organ sounding lead in the background has a nice flow to it as well. I like the development at 1.55 and subsequent, albeit short, piano bit after it. Overall it had a nice but a little repetitive sound, with some killer parts and ideas that don't need much to make a great track out of!

Nice chords for the first third, I really enjoyed the second third though. The last third was definitely nice, but by that point the song had been playing the same idea for three sections. Though the idea did come to fruition in the last third. For a one off on the Demo Version though, rather good work mate.

That lead would probably sound great with a filter to bring it in, with maybe some high reverb while it's still pretty faint. I really enjoyed the drums coming in, it all comes together nicely. The last bit wasn't bad per se, just seems more like something that would be a bit shorter and lead into something else. Though you've always the chance to do more with it, so that's a thing!

I adore the beginning, from the ambient start, to the trilled high note. What are you using for your strings?? They sound just right. You obviously have a firm grasp on what you're doing. I wouldn't be surprised hearing something not unlike this while watching your avatar's origin.

I really like the fade in bit the first synth does, as well as how it works with the plucky synth after that. I also like the way you used to vocal clip. I feel like you really should maybe try hitting that first section with drums with a Low Pass Filter with a little resonance, might give a better sound. The build up to the drop seems rather quick, perhaps more of a build up with a bit of Highpass before the drop could help. There's some rather cool ideas in there, just keep working with it!

What IS that sound near the beginning, that's repeated? I really like that clean synth with the piano, it's got a smooth flow to it. I listen to Ambient stations fairly frequently, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear this exact track in there. I enjoyed it, nice work mate!

I like the high-hat when it comes in. That chirpy sounding synth really fits the atmosphere, and when the kick and snare come in it definitely feels right. My only real complaint is it didn't really change much through the whole thing, just added to the same sound. Try a refrain or bridge or some-such, even if it's just to see what you could do, you never know what you'll come up with!
Here's one I stored away a while ago. I mean to do more with it, but last time I worked on it I ended up just adding a few bars of pizzicato strings and losing inspiration. I'm hoping placing it in with some other songs for a mock album will make it easier to write more to it. Also feedback could help that too!

I think the strings could be a tiny bit louder. Also, maybe let it start with the pizzicato strings instead of the muffled drums? The last phrase with string might sound neat if you added another pizzicato voice over it but a third above or a sixth below that melody (which is nice btw).

I found this pretty nice. The bass is subtle and sounds nice with my headphones. it's not too harsh of a song. Honestly, it has a nice atmospheric sound to it. It sure beats any flow my music has, because I can't make calming music. But something about that subtle bass makes me like it. The mysterious synth in the background make it feel surreal, and I do like surreal music. "Muddy" you say? Everyone has different unique abilities. Some are good at slow paced music, some are good a fast paced music. Whatever the case, music is an expression of the artists emotion, their thoughts and uniqueness.
No, don't worry, I'm not high.
Now, I'm those people who really hate to post my music elsewhere other than my social medias, but I really think I could receive some positives and negatives about my music. I remember back in 2013 making a kick, a snare, and a "wub wub" and thought it was amazing. I learned how to mix better, and now I haven't been learning how to mix any better for months. (probably because I haven't tried new ways to mix. I also do not fully understand what mixing is. I have an idea, but I feel like I may be thinking it as something else)
I'll only post two of my songs I think can definitely use feedback. The other ones are less in quality. They both are fast paced electronic music.
This one is my most melodic, but repetitive song.

Mixing is pretty much just making shit sound clear, mainly by keeping everything in its own frequency range.
To embed soundcloud tracks, you have to take the "s" out of "https" & use media tags.
Anyway, this isn't anywhere near the type of music I generally listen to, so I don't really have that much to say, but here it goes. Enigmatic Tessellation is mostly pretty clean, but I think the percussion gets drowned out a little when the song starts to pick up. I agree with you on Sour being mixed better, pretty much everything stands out enough. I liked that you had a bunch of stuff going on in the background during the first half of it too, that made it more interesting to me, although I feel that it kind of lost that touch in the second half. Also, the transition at 2:45 was pretty weak, it was like it came out of nowhere. The other transitions all sounded fine to me, but I think that one could be a little less abrupt.
About posting your music outside of the usual social media, that's what the whole thread is for, and as long as you're contributing to it by providing feedback for others, you're definitely not going to come off as one of those dickheads that just plugs their music everywhere. It's nice to see that you did post feedback too, because a lot of people come here to post their shit without regard to the majority of the title.

is there any actual point to this thread anymore? i took some time away from this site for like 6 months and this thread is literally the exact same as it was before, people constantly reminding each other of the rules
