A bit late for a remix of Make It Bun Dem but I'd love to get some critique on it so far!
Anyone? Just lookin for some critique so I can make it better
Anyone? Just lookin for some critique so I can make it better
I like the timbre of the instrumentation, but those synths at the beginning aren't really doing it for me. I would suggest making them a little less dissonant. The drums at 1:15 could also do with being matched to the rest of the percussion.
Finally released my song.
I'm enjoying the ambiance you have there. I would suggest making the drums a little lower in the mix, but apart from that you've done a very good job. Here's some lo-fi, late 60s-early 70s style psychedelia. I still need someone to do some guitar solos for the interludes.
Finally released my song.
I kind of agree with Chippers, maybe lower the drums a bit. Apart from that I like it a lot! :O Working on something new myself.
Thanks to both of you! I think I kind of wanted the drums to be loud and "sharp", makes the song more unique in a way. But I will still try and experiment with it a bit tomorrow. And I will give you feedback tomorrow when I am at my own computer with decent speakers. Edit: As for loud, sharp percussion, listen to jacoo on soundcloud's tracks. I was inspired a lot by some of his songs.
Have you guys seen the new Star Trek? Well if you have, I'm doing a arrangement of one of the pieces from the movie. This is only a preview since I'm having to do it all by ear. Star Trek Into Darkness - London Calling Edit: Here is the rest of it, I was able to finish it up this morning.
I kind of agree with Chippers, maybe lower the drums a bit. Apart from that I like it a lot! :O Working on something new myself.
I really like the synths in the break (the lead and the soft plucks) but I think the break could use a high pass over the bass that slowly releases. Nice snare pattern btw. ____________________________________________________________ Hey guys I got a new WIP, I thought it needed a bit of a change near the end so here is the current wip:
WIP on another song I'm working on. Experimenting with some chillstep this time. I'm actually very pleased with it so far. I think the drum sounds maybe sound a bit overcompressed. I'd also add a reverb on them instead. Other than that, it sounds good. Also, I did bring the drums on my song down a bit:
messssssin aroundddddddd
It sounds good, but is there supposed to be a regular beat?
It sounds good, but is there supposed to be a regular beat?
Yeah i went a little overboard with the offbeat drums. I'll probably change it, didn't turn out the way i imagined.

Great job! Also updated my track. Extended the highpass-bass before the drop to 8 bars. I've also added some reverb to the drums and lowered the attack on the pad synth so it won't sound as delayed as it did. Hopefully it turned out better :)

I think the instrument starting at 4.30 would sound a bit better if it was adjusted to fit the rest of the melody in some way. Can't really tell how though. Try moving it up and down in tone until it sounds right, or do the same thing with the rest of the melody. It does sound decent now, but I just have a feeling that it would sound better adjusted in tone.
Something house-ish I'm working on right now!

Reeeeally nice. I was hoping it'd stay a bit more like it was at the start, but I still dig it. Any thoughts on this so far? will probably be neurofunk at some point.. Only spent 50 mins on it so far so it's rather barebones.

The kick thing fading in at 35 seconds is close to perfect.
Please excuse the FL Studio presets and the awful soloing. The final mix will not have a single asset from this mix, only the same concept and chords. I will record all the keyboard parts on a proper keyboard, and all the synth parts on a proper synth, and I will add some proper live instrumentation. I am even thinking of getting a saxophonist to play the first solo. I am only putting this out to get feedback on the structure and harmonics of the composition, not the recording or mixing.
Hey, I'm thinking of applying for a 1-year choral scholarship, its only a small thing at a local cathedral...I have to pick a piece for an audition, I have a bass voice and a few years experience in a choir (17 yrs old).... my questions are, anyone got a suggestion for a short piece I could sing, (un-accompanied or simple organ accompaniment). secondly here is a quick recording I made of R. William's "Linden lea", it's me singing the Bass and "soprano"(line). Anyone got any advice/critiques for me, all is appreciated. (nb. excuse it probably being out of key, didn't have a start note or anything to go by..., only a quickie) https://soundcloud.com/tom-bates-6/linden-lea
Something I'm working on.
I am .. making an attempt. https://soundcloud.com/akramki/an-attempt I know "lern 2 mix n master scrub" but it's my first try ever. - And oh lord I'm sorry about the bass.
I am .. making an attempt. https://soundcloud.com/akramki/an-attempto I know "lern 2 mix n master scrub" but it's my first try ever. - And oh lord I'm sorry about the bass.
Mix It's not that bad, really. The snare/clap/whatever is a bit piercing, maybe EQ it a little and take it down a bit + some reverb. The kick drum is a bit heavy and the sample isn't great, it needs clicky transients to cut through the mix. The lead part that comes in towards the end is a little loud compared to the arpeggio synth going through the whole song (and i think that could do with having it's cutoff a bit higher). In the half time section, the hi hats get lost in the mix, bring them up. All in all it's mixed well for your first attempt. Composition The drums aren't too bad, but could use a bit of variety. On the fourth bar try adding a second snare on the 4 1/2th beat. The synths are alright, the chord progression is pretty basic and uninteresting so I'd suggest changing it up quite a bit more. I won't go into details, but just read about them a little - but C D E D is rather boring. All in all pretty good.
Oh great feedback! Agreed on the notes but I'm not a musical tallent, I'll try and get some piano lessons or something. Definetly something I can learn from, many thanks!!!
I'm trying to get into my dream job as a composer for video games (and other projects), so I put together this demo reel trying to show the different styles and moods I can write. I've put together a website and started talking to people about working on their games. I'm super excited
Never posted my soundcloud music on here ever.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. Aren't you the guy posting the 2d dogfight game in WAYWO? That game looks like it's coming along great.
