Apart from changing the placeholder drum beat (or removing it entirely) I need to add a few more chords and actual things. Any advice or whatever on how to improve it would be much appreciated.
This really needs some vocals. Maybe some actual progression too? I mean, it's pretty much just a loop with some improv on it

haha this is awesome, I love everything about it. It reminds me so much of something like Banjo-Kazooie even if the instruments aren't the most fitting for it.

I actually like this one.
- I especially like the first 30 seconds or so that said I think the swirly noise effect thats playing throughout should fade in over the first minute
- I think it might benefit with some more organic sounding instruments coming in over time but I'm not too sure
- I also like the progression with the plucks how it starts off sounding a bit sad and slowly turning darker with some old-school style horror sounds coming in
Haven't posted anything here in a while. I've been working on this for some time.

The lead bass synth is nice but I think the composition of the top bass is just a bit too chaotic especially around 3:00, it definitely sounds better to me at around 1:15.

Anyway I'm working on a remix of hope by arty.

Wrote this in about one and a half hours. Still very rough. No drums. Needs a whole lot of revision. Not sure if I'll continue and make it longer or just start new movement or whatever afterward. I like how it came out though. C&C is very very welcomed please!

heavily wip, just got this structure together but I'm thinking of changing some things not sure if it flows too well. Not properly mastered yet, want to add some spoken word vocal samples on top in certain parts. Just a little teaser

The piano should definitely be louder.
Any tips on how to improve this, production (mixing) wise?

Sounds good. It's using Sibelius Sounds so it's not actually top quality sound, but it gets the job done.
Housestep. Play it loud xox

nice work mane
since stems were released for this song the other day, i decided to get to work on my own mix of it
might not be fp's cup of tea judging by this thread but the few people i've linked it to have enjoyed it..

Decided to take a break from my last song and write new one. Didn't like the beginning as much as I do the middle. It's not done as I plan on making it at least 3 minutes, but this is what I got so far.

Finished the main track, let us know what you think, I still wanna chuck some vocal samples on top at certain points but I can't do that til I get my mic. I want it to be all original as opposed to sampling stuff that's already out there

tried something weird, the chords sound kinda epic

fuck that sounds awesome! reminds me of the music in max payne 3, really ambient and dark, i'd love to hear it lengthened
Made a tribute to Morbid Angel with a project called Anticeptic Flesh

I've been testing some stuff lately.

Preview of my Joe Garston remix coming July 19th!

needs heavy mastering work and I don't like what i've done with the lfo for the main lead, want to change that but that's me for today
My capabilities are limited at the moment, as I am on vacation and couldn't bring all my gear with me, but I did manage to make two decent (imo) pieces of two entirely different genres.

reminds me a fuckload of the M machine, i like the intro alot. the kick feels a little 'tough' though, i'm not really sure how to describe it. i think something alot more lightweight, maybe even a short, compressed 808 kick would've worked. the clap also feels a little bit too high-endy. 1:38 is really nice but the sidechain conflicts with the synth that comes in imo.
overall, really great into, but a couple of elements that aren't really to my tastes i suppose.

This is really nice! Those big pads are geat. One tweak would be the sweeping noise, when it hits the high notes (like at 5:18) it starts to cut through on my speakers, rather piercing. Bit of EQ to take those high notes off would be great. Apart from that, great track. Great atmosphere.
Hello music peeps, I'm usually not in this subforum but I started trying out the Ableton Live trial yesterday and today I made this. I'm pretty impressed with myself considering the lack of experience with the program and music-making in general.
I didn't really go after anything, I just made something that sounded decent-ish.
Tell me what you think

I like how the drums unfolded at 1:10 but throughout the rest of the song they got pretty repetitive, I think a tone down on the reverb for some of the drum instruments would help, and a melody might help build on it a bit.

I was listening to a fuckload of the xx and accidentally started learning how to play a guitar

Tried to make breakcore with chopped up drums.

So I got into a bar fight in outer space and made a song about it. I hope you like it.

I'm looking into making my musical composition more dynamic. I feel I have transitions more or less down now and I really want to get a better understanding of chord progressions and how to really construct a good melody to go with them. Plus I am trying to branch away from doing 4/4 140bpm all of the time. I will be reading a lot more music theory so I can really start understanding how it all fits together.
[editline]7th July 2013[/editline]
Also I suck at making drums/beats
This is still a work in progress, I'm just having a hard time with my transitions:
