Tried out renoise
Here is a piano piece I've been working on for the past two weeks or so. This is the second update, but I'm still not done. I feel like I can write a lot more. The last (new) section still needs some work, I am not satisfy yet. And I still need to tweak some of the dynamics throughout the piece some more. But anyways feel free to comment.

Made this short 80's electro thing. Didn't really do much for the drums, but I like where it's going.

This kind of stuff, along with what AshMan posted always makes me feel inadequate when posting my stuff, because tbh I can't write music for shit and don't know anything about music theory. I can barely even find stuff that I feel like I have enough knowledge for me to actually give feedback on. Great stuff guys, sounds really swell!
Anyway, won't get better if I don't try. So here's a new thing I've been working on. Electro-whatever again.

Don't put yourself down like that, because everyone is better at different things. I have almost no idea how to write a lot of the electronic music that many people in this thread post. Eyefunk is another great example, he comes up with some pretty amazing ambiance tracks, but I have hard time thinking more abstract like he does, when it comes to ambiance.
I honestly can't give much feedback to anyone either, because I don't compose music in those styles, electronic, house, dance, etc. I mean I can give some feedback on chord progressions and theory because I'm going to school for it, but besides that I'm not much help.
So I think its silly for you to feel inadequate when many people are doing different things. It'd be like me comparing classical music to rap. Two very different things, which require different skill sets.

I like this, couple of things I don't like is the effect that starts to come in around the 18 or 19 second mark, it seems too much I think it'd sound better toned down, I feel like your kick needs more clack but it might just be my ears. Drums are too buried behind the bassline at 1:22. Actually everything seems a bit lost in the very loud bassline. Good song though I enjoyed it.
Here's a track I've been working on, it has no lead so it doesn't really feel complete at all but I've been struggling to get one to fit, my writing skills are quite bad at the moment only just started learning theory. I focus more on making the instruments, the piano isn't mine though. Anyway should I continue working on this or leave it? It seems kinda bland and repetitive to me now and I'm not 100% sure how I could improve it.

This sounds pretty good, the hats sound perfectly fine to me, kick is good, but the snare sounds a bit too metallic. The drop isn't very satisfying, it could use some more sub bass. You're definitely on the right track though, no pun intended.
Also if anyone is interested in doing a house track collabo, i posted this in the discussion thread
Anybody want to collab on a house track? I use FL studio.
Here's the only real house track i've ever made:

Also, take out the "s" if the url starts with https:// when media tagging. Otherwise, it won't work, for some reason.

Thanks for the advice! As for your track, the hi hats sound fine IMO. Can't really think of anything to give feedback on, I like this a lot!

I really like the clicking pattern in the beginning! It starts sounding a bit out of place when the synths kick in imo. Maybe try simulating that pattern with other percs/samples? Still sounds pretty great. Good job :D
I've updated the track I posted. Toned down the distortion on the keys in the beginning and tried fixing the mix a bit. Also changed the kick sample.

i did something a little different, tried some new shit
did it work?
Man, I love your beats. Wish I could sample like you do. The variation to the strings near the end is nice. Don't have much criticism really.
Working on a house thing, changed the vocals to this. Not sure if I like them or not. Sorry, can't embed private sounds so click
Ugh I cant wait til I start my music theory class in school. Then maybe I can finally get some melodies for my beats like this one.

Any suggestions on an instrument? I was thinking some strings and brass.

I made this for a rust contest.

yes the detuned effect was done on purpose
personally I think it's the worst song I've ever made, but others seem to like it. this piece isn't worth improving but any criticism would help towards future stuff.

quite fond of it, I learnt a lot of new things working on this one
feel free to criticize harshly so I have more stuff to consider for future songs

[del]pretty nice, what are you using to write? I don't listen to much C64 stuff, so I can't tell if you're using samples, or if you're using something like deflemask.[/del]
Nevermind, I just clicked that you're remixing C64 songs, rather than making them, or making remixes of new songs, as C64 tunes

I take old C64 and Amiga-compositions and arrange versions of them using modern technology, basically. It's been a hobby for years.
Here's the original tune that I am posted a wip remix of;
