Not sure if this is the place to ask, but how can I improve my vocals? I've never been much of a singer but I love playing music, any advice on finding natural vocal range/what I would naturally be able to do well so I can improve on it would be helpful.
I dont really plan anything I make, It just kind of happens. This one turned out like pretentious wine bar music. Dont know where to take it from here.

sounds like some crazy as shit drill n bass, i love it
Sounds nice so far but that Clav stab sounds weak and tinny. Apart from that it sounds nice so far. _________________________________ Been having writers block and have actually started something I think is decent. C&C? And if anything, isn't it better to mix on really shit headphones, because if you can get it to sound good on them, then it'll sound good on any headphones?
these are shit speakers yeah thats my philosophy too tho I think its working out pretty well actually
You should mix on the most accurate speakers/cans that you've got and reference on shit speakers. If you mix on shit speakers or headphones that can't reproduce certain sounds well at all then you might as well just turn your speakers off and mix blindly. The goal should be to have very accurate reference monitors and to learn how they translate to different systems.
Please take a listen to this piece I've been working on for the past two weeks. I think it came out rather good. Metamorphosis-

Metamorphosis-
May I ask what you use for your orchestral pieces? They're godly! You're among my favorite artists because of your style. It's so Nightmare Before Christmas/Burtonesque. Amazing! This is a WIP I posted about 10-15 minutes ago. Ivory hates my guts and cuts out during renders. I basically have to render the final version and render it again until it decides to work properly. So sorry for the choppy piano, but it works fine in FL.

Thank you for the nice comment though. By the way I think your piece is quite nice as well, I really dig that piano progression you have there.
Just made a short new ambient track. Thoughts?
I guess this is worth posting, I'm just happy that I made a guitar sound that I do not absolutely hate, I still need to adjust everything though. My process is annoying because I produce on these speakers that distort/clip most of my sounds so whenever I make some progress I go into my car to hear how it actually sounds, then go back to readjusting levels and shit on my retard speakers.
Just made a short new ambient track. Thoughts? Here's a videogame battle theme (kinda) made by me: I mostly do experimental music.
i recreated and spiced up one of my very first tracks; you can check the original on my soundcloud, it's the very first song. i was really happy with the progression towards the end, it gets really fun.
I MADE A FUNNY LOL XD
Probably making a mistake posting this late to the page, but here goes, into the abyss. work in progress, mind you

I'm practicing to incoroporate short 1 word vocals into my songs / beats... I think this flows pretty well
Made a little Liquid DnB wip:
taking a gamble by posting near the end of the page i usually do hip hop and goombawave but i recently decided to try my hand at house [editline]24th August 2013[/editline] oh shit its at the top of the page
Can anyone help me with making sampled beats with FL Studio? I'm new to music making, but I've always been really into sampled hip hop and shit, I just don't even know where to start..
Download some breakbeats (or rip them off of vinyl) and chop them up with SliceX or cut them yourself and put it i the FPC. That's pretty much the basic for the drums at least. Well that, or just slow down the entire break and add to that.
how do breakbeats even work but idgi is it just taking drum fills from old 70s vinyl and looping it or some shit
Basically that. It's taking the drum solo from the 'break' of old funk/soul records, and either looping it, or chopping it up.
holy fuck I am bored this Sunday afternoon weird shit happens when I'm bored Also, my brother recently covered a song! I personally think it's really good, and it would be awesome if you guys could leave some positive comments/criticism for him on soundcloud.
Hi I'm back and I'm gonna start posting more and paying more attention to everyone else. I like it Eyefunk, a lot. I'm well into Slowdive and it's got the same sort of essence that I love about their music, it's well done. Just needs to be longer aaa I can't offer any criticism on your brother's song because I'm no authority on folk stuff, all I can say is that I really like it and I commented that it's ace. For the past few months I've been sort of upgrading my bedroom studio so I can start writing live material and the other day I finally hit my goal for the setup, so since then I've just been going all out with live stuff as opposed to my typical production technique and today I think I am satisfied with the results. Tell me what you think (I hit a bad note at one point later in the track so sorry in advance). Also the levels aren't the greatest, I sort of balanced it out quickly just to make sure I wouldn't max out anywhere and didn't really pay much attention otherwise. The ending is a bit of a Bob Ross tribute

Here are some thing I've messed around with so far. I didnt use a drum break but I sampled the original song and looped some shit, added some cool parts on top of other parts, and put some drums from FL on top of it. I dont know. Basically no songs have parts with purely a melody without drums. This one had a little bit more chopping in it, to get the chorus right, I like how this one turned out. I didnt add drums to it though. I like to take cool sounding parts from other loops and add them on top of other good loops to add little touches... and this one was my first one I made can you guys honestly tell me how terrible i am, how to improve, etc etc.. maybe some good tutorials for FL? I really wanna learn everything there is about it
Does this sound confusing?
