Well, as probably noticed by my earlier post, I'm new around here but I've been into small experimentation regarding music for a bit. Even if I don't take it too seriously, I really enjoy the fact that with a little perseverance you can make something that sounds really decently. A track: [media]http://soundcloud.com/randyandy16bit/mad-doctor-arranged[/media] PS - I have some current volume auto-level problem on my PC, not sure if it's stemming from the speakers, Windows 7 or sound card but I've tried all the usual fixes and no luck. This impairs my ability to master the track... And it's annoying that I can't get the volume of the tracks sounding right. I'm sorry about that.

I'm sorry about that.[/QUOTE] Right click on your volume then go to Playback Devices. Right click on your Speakers/Headphones/Whatever and go to Enhancements. Make sure pretty much everything you don't want is unchecked - especially "Loudness Equalization".

I did say I had tried all the usual fixes, but thanks anyway :\ It might be my X-Fi card's fault actually, now that I think about it..

Tried my hand at doing an arrangement of one of the songs I've been really liking lately and I think it came out really well! Today I was whistling a little tune I made up between classes and decided to try to make something out of it. You'll hear the little melody in the beginning. Will help it sit better with the rest of the song. Put some reverb on it with about a 0.8ms decay or 1.0, cut the lows from it so it doesn't muddy the the mix, and give it some light dampening. Other than that it sounds well mixed and pleasing to the ears. Also perhaps layer a deeper kick drum on top of the existing one and create a slight sidechain compression to give the track a fluid bouncy feel. It would also give it some more carrying energy. However I realize that the song doesn't necassarily call for a wieghty kick, but just a thought.
