Not really that good at this stuff, I started last year but didn't do it as much as I should've. Just a work in progress Trance track, mixing is piss poor right now (I need new headphones). I tried getting a sort of classicy trance sound with it, for I've been listening to a lot of that recently.

Primarily FL Studio and Ableton (some also use reaper, but it depends on what style you're aiming to make) around here.

Although what you're asking is coming across in an extremely asshole-ish and condescending, I'll answer it in perhaps not such a tone;

Yes. Most of us here have basic -> advanced knowledge of the piano/keyboard. My self and loads of others here play drums, I know for a fact that there's also loads of people here who play guitar.

If there's an 'actual instrument' I can play with any confidence it's a piano, but all I have is a MIDI keyboard. I would kill for any kind of acoustic sound wave goodness, closest I get to anything like that is homemade samples.

Yep. I play guitar, drums, piano, and trombone. But then you could pull out the "Synthesizers are [I]actual[/I] instuments too" argument, and there's plenty of people here who can play those

The lead is too echo-e and trance-ish. Doesn't really fit the pace of the melody too well. get something more solid and less reverby
