Been working on a new song again. Coming along quite nice! Things to change / add: * Something to make the change from the clean intro to the distorted part more fluent * Balance bass levels to be not so aggressive * Melodies and harmonies * More content all together It's a start.
When you guys started making music, did you think on stuff like how balanced the sound is etc.. or did you just do shit?
When you guys started making music, did you think on stuff like how balanced the sound is etc.. or did you just do shit?
getting a clean mix is less of a theory and more of a feeling. if you analyse the music you listen to and the sound you want to achieve, you can pick out certain techniques they use and apply them yourself.
Been really inspired by Alex Metric recently [editline]1st April 2013[/editline]
When you guys started making music, did you think on stuff like how balanced the sound is etc.. or did you just do shit?
Worry about how good your music is (EG : Melody, synth quality, drum sample selection, etc.), then worry about the technical side of things (mastering, mixing, etc.)

Really nice song though. I think you should add something else though, an arp or something on top - something just to add to what's already there and to make it more diversified. Apart from that, it's sounding pretty good. ____________________________________________________________________________ I'd really love some comment on the mixes(and the songs in general). These songs I've been trying hard to make everything sound clean and make my plucks cut through everything.
When you guys started making music, did you think on stuff like how balanced the sound is etc.. or did you just do shit?
I started by messing around. But after a while you get that feeling that you gotta start listening closely to how everything works together. In other words, don't fret at first. After a while, it'll just come to you. Mixing, like Bobie said, is more of a feeling than anything. It's all subjective...
When you guys started making music, did you think on stuff like how balanced the sound is etc.. or did you just do shit?
I personally recommend focusing on music theory and stuff like that before caring too much about mixing. A lot of my old music is a bit hard to listen to because of it, but I was able to experience the fun and get my bearings on melodies, chords, etc.
This is the third song I've ever made. I want some criticism.
I like it. But I think the "bubbly" sort of sounds that come in about halfway through detract from the overall feel of it. I think
Experimenting with use of electronic sounds with orchestral instruments. Electronic Horror:
It's ominous, but nowhere near horror. Listen to DeadSpace 3 sometime, in order to achieve horror you must torture and sacrifice multiple stringed instruments.
sounds very mass effect-y
lo-fi/vaporwave-y kind of stuff. hip hop influences. updated, now a minute long
lo-fi/vaporwave-y kind of stuff. hip hop influences.
Sounds like something from a 'how it's made' video. Obviously this isn't going to sound very good compared to all of you folk who toil away for hours and know how to produce and mix an electronic song, but I decided to see what I could come up with in thirty minutes and, while I don't feel like this is going to be finished, I feel like I did an okay job with the writing at the very least. Nothing is mixed, all default FL Studio stuff.

It makes the compression sound stuttery. It sounds like the kick is overlapping. Ironically the second track's kick could probably use some more bass. It's been a while since I've made any trance though.. __________________________________________________ I'm gonna try leaving some feedback here because I feel that's something I need to practice.
sounds very mass effect-y
Yeah, mass effect was the first thing that came to mind when I heard that synth. I just think that the lead @0:18 could use a little more room. Just add some trash style vocals and I'll be throwing my money at you
tried to see what i could do with just one basic thor synth in reason (no samples involved, just one thor) thought it came out sounding pretty cool
Just trying to get back into making music, maybe release some stuff over the summer. Are the indian vocals too much?
Just trying to get back into making music, maybe release some stuff over the summer. Are the indian vocals too much?
This is really awesome, especially with the indian vocals. I like the combination of sounds, although when you have the cool wind-sweepy effects, it would be better with less high/band pass. The beats are really nice. Over all there's maybe a few places it could be touched up but otherwise it's great. Taking into account the comments in the description, is there anything else I should include in my remastering? Is the structure too repetitive? Also, can you see a way for percussion to fit without detracting from the intended effect? the later parts of the song will have little bits of raw-data-type glitch sounds, which will grow until the last few seconds is just raw data.
i like the overall progression of the song, transitions are very appropriate and well done. just needs more subs. also heres some older stuff i did but never finished (and im never going to)
trying out the ableton 9 trial, I really want to buy it now.
trying out the ableton 9 trial, I really want to buy it now.
fucking excellent, but could use some background synths. havent tried any version of ableton though. been with FL since version 8 and never bothered to get used to anything else.
Thanks I'll try adding more to it. I like fruity loops too but find it harder to get nice sounds from it. The stock sounds in ableton are good and the ways you can automate different tracks is reallly nice. I dont have any software atm Ive just been using a demo of fruity loops. Ive been thinking of getting either ableton or an elektron machinedrum.
http://soundcloud.com/luffymusics/snoop-lion-no-guns-allowed ok, time to stop playin around. its 2013. step ur game up [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
Just trying to get back into making music, maybe release some stuff over the summer. Are the indian vocals too much?
i like this, sounds a little quiet though. also maybe bring out the highs on the synthwork a little, or just eq the high up a little bit more. also sounds like there is a little bit of a low/mid clutter, so try to sidechain the low end to the kick maybe. i really really really like the melody however, and i think it sounds perfect with that kind of synth. not too sure about the vocals, i think they kinda get lost behind the synthwork anyway. maybe replace the vocals with some other synths. i think it might also help to have a few pads rolling in occasionally to pan it out, then fading them out to bring the attention back on the synthwork once more. overall a good track, just needs a bit of eq work and maybe some subtle changes here and there. hope to hear the finished version soon [editline]3rd April 2013[/editline]
trying out the ableton 9 trial, I really want to buy it now.
not available

Actually you're right, even good stuff often gets overlooked in this thread.
