I've also go this thing with the air on the toms being audible when they ring out, I tried putting a noise gate but it just sort of did that tremolo effect improper gates do, but if I set the threshold too high the tom hits cut short, any suggestions?
I'm always happy to hear a king crimson/steve wilson prog mix but no feedback until you post feedback
Really into this it's got great atmosphere! I think it would sound best with a female vocalist, or if you want to take it to the next level do it primarily with a female vocalist with layering of male vocals on certain parts. Not really educated enough to say how to solve the gating/limiting issues but I do agree that the kick has a little too much presence, I like the double kick sound though! This is the first track from a new project by me and fellow Facepunch member, I'd say this track is 80% done just needs cleaning up and a few embellishments then it's good to be mixed and mastered. We're hoping to do a 4 song EP or otherwise 2 successive dual releases with the same epic retro sound.
Very catchy and very funky sounding Here is an updated version of Methodical Polygons that I posted earlier. Anax has just been working his ass off on this track and its amazing. But I cant help but shake the feeling that I haven't done enough. All I've done is the beat up until 2:00 I mean I have kinda been in control of the songs structure and stuff and anax takes my suggestions to heart and then does them extraordinarily well, I still feel that I shouldn't even take credit for any of this. God Its this horrible I'm not good enough kinda guilt. I agree the kick could be quieter in the second half.
Here are my first two real attempts at electronic music: cc is appreciated

I especially liked the sampling near the end. The second track was pretty enjoyable too. Only thing that I can really comment on this one is maybe some volume issues here and there with certain instruments. Oh yeah and make sure to respond to other people as you post your work, it keeps the cycle going. I think if it changed scales (or chords) a bit at some point it would be more interesting. Also I really liked the direction it headed at 1:17, cool break. sample fun and some slower drum beats. IDM & pad fuckery Hopefully gonna wrap up some material from recently and shoot for a label soon.
well for lyrics im open for discussion because im 100% sure anything i come up with will be cheesy and bullshit, so it would be up to the vocalist. and i'm having many many people tell me that a female voice would sound best. but i don't know who yet or how to find somebody.
I'm a lyricist if you ever need any help there. I'd be interested in hearing what you have to say about the theme in the music. What point you want to get across.
New WIP because I never finish anything My goal was to make it dirty. Mission accomplished :v: Also, only my second drop ever. Notes?

Notes?
That sounds pretty great, but a little bit of something is missing from the drop, that intensity, that oompf that goes straight to your core, I feel that a lot of the dubstep that's coming out now tends to miss that in trying to subvert your expectations for what a drop should be

Good lord, beautiful! Personally, I'd skip the first 20 seconds, and begin there at 0:20. Only thing this track lacks currently is some low end, where's the bass man? I got my bongo drums and djembe (+ tambourine, shakers and egg) so I started doing a little something something. Ideas on things that can be added? I'd love to hear your thoughts :)

I'd love to hear your thoughts :)
Right from the get go all I can hear is "guitar slightly off rhythm". Specifically it seems to be starting most measures out early. Are you playing with a click track, and if so how loudly? I almost want to say it's ever-so-slightly out of tune slightly as well, and I might like more mid range in the EQing. BUT When the other percussion and bass come in at :28, those parts are very solid and sound great. If the guitar wasn't fumbling along over top of it, it'd sound excellent. I apologize for not knowing the proper name, but the ambient string/synth you have going for the duration of the song is also very good. Something I'd suggest adding is a really strong melody, either with some weird instrument like a sharp synth or an acoustic/electric guitar. Right now the acoustic guitar feels like it's playing a rhythm part and you could really add a strong instrument or two over top without subtracting anything. I feel like it's got a bit of an old western type vibe so it could do with a clean acoustic or electric, or work equally well with something harder like a distorted electric guitar or sharp synth lead. Something slow and melodic yet intense would be what I imagine fitting best.
hey guys i made this song for my musical creation class in college, but i don't know if i'm satisfied with it. the professor said nothing, just that it was simple (obvious), but i'd really like some more feedback from musicians and composers. so here it is, feel free to say whatever comes to your mind about it, i mean it https://soundcloud.com/nicholas-domene/chin
The best way to get feedback is to give, don't be afraid to give someone else some help on their track.
Yes, please give some feedback for another person's song with your post. As well, you'll want to use tags and remove the 's' from 'https' in the url.

Now that you mention it I notice it as well, I play with a click track at a loud enough level so that I hear it primarily :) Not sure if it is out of tune, I've been planning on re-record it since I feel it is way too fast now given the overall feel of the track so I'll fix those two things first thing tomorrow! Friend of mine made it for me, it is part piano and part organ which has been heavily modified, I could see how he did it if you want to. I've also been thinking of having a distorted guitar playing some leads on top of it, I'll get to it as well tomorrow. :) Thanks for giving such a thorough criticism mate, I appreciate it a lot!

Guys, post some feedback with your post before you even think about posting your own shit here. Why would you ask for notes and not provide any for anybody else? It's not like we don't make these posts like 5 times a page. It doesn't matter if you don't feel qualified or whatever. Even just telling someone you like their track is enough.

NickoDomene did post feedback, so he's off the hook (we appreciate you!!), but I have often posted my stance on this. I personally think it would be much better withhold feedback from these posts until they leave their own, as it's really self-defeating when we ask them to leave feedback before receiving, yet some well meaning user will comment on their song anyway. The other side of this though is that any kind of rule that discourages any kind of feedback is arguably a bad rule, since the entire point is the feedback, after all. I don't know what kind of step to take as it is a complex and common problem. Still, I do think the thread has been improving so I'm not gravely concerned about it.

All I can hear are the breaks and that pluck melody that seems to stretch from 1:24 onward as it carries on everything gets less noticeable. I feel like if the pads came way up and were spread way out it would already begin to feel much more full sounding. ~ Here's a remix I did. Soundcloud kind of fucked up the delay I had on the vocal track and at 1:05 is way more apparent than it should be, but whatevs maaang. Would be cool to get some others' feedback though, specifically the percussion/drum track, as that's what I've been focusing on in new projects as of late. Great work. Now something I've been working on, it's just a little synthwave experiment thingy using vocaloid! My first try with vocaloid, you'll have to excuse the cheesy lyrics, I'm not really experienced in that field of work :s

You know, I can't really think of much to comment on, it is a fucking solid track through and through, only thing I can really think of is the track there at 2:58, a piano or something to lay down a chill melody (maybe even just rehash the vocal melody?) could be really cool I think :) [editline]11th July 2014[/editline]
Pros:
I think the vocaloid sounds good, lyrics I even dig as well, a drum&bass-beat on top of it would sound swell as shit! The shakers are a really good fit as well, they are quite prominent but not overdone. I think working on making it blend in more in the track could do wonders for the sound of it, the track itself is pretty low-end/higher mid, you could definietly bring down the lower frequencies on the track an try and blend in the kazoo near 500hz and up to 2khz :) Did some fiddling with the track, hopefully the guitar blends in a bit more now! I think I might add some of my own vocals to the track too, some tribalistic vocals where I just lay down simple melodies with me saying nonsense. It lacks some higher end too I think, anyone has any ideas on what type of instruments I could use to really make the track fuller? :) [editline]12th July 2014[/editline] How did you make it in FL studio?
