The Forgotten Portal -
Very impressed with this track, the mood it puts off is great and it feels like something I would here in a video game. Relaxing and eery. I spent about a week working on this almost complextroish edm type thing. I think it turned out pretty good but still needs a tad bit of polishing.
Here is something dumb I made while practicing chord progressions. IT needs a second part somewhere but I just wanna know what this first progression thing sounds like.
I like it alot, reminds me of Canon in D. Two new tracks. Very proud of that one. And i just made this one in like 40 minutes:
The chord progression reminds me a lot of canon in d major, it's nice but that's all I can hear :v: Sorry for flooding the thread but I'm trying to put a song together every day until my monitors arrive, then I can finish them, mix and master and I'll hopefully have a bit of an ep. I've taken into account the comments on the last one (I think this intro is stronger), so hopefully it's decent
That's one beautiful panning instrument you have going, how did you do it? I also adore the hihat, excellent sound! And the fluteish sounding instrument is really nice, and when the drums start building up? Head starts bobbing right away! I can't really dig the bass that starts at 0:44, it just sounds so out of place and anticlimatic! When looking at the two "pieces" (intro and main part) separately then there's two nice things, thinking of them together? It feels odd. I think that could be changed if the main part has the same drums that you have in the buildup, because the bass is nice and I really enjoy that you're using toms as well as the kick, snare and hihat setup. And the lead synth is cool, creates a very disharmonic soundscape. :) I actually think that if you were to place a snare on the 1st, 2nd beat of the bar when the bass plays, and then have it roll 8thnotes on the 3rd to 4th, and from the 4th go 16thnotes it could build more into the main part, "tabbed out" below: 1 2 3 4 S S SSSSSS Maybe it gets to hectic, not sure, I think you should check it out though. :) Here's a new rendition of an "older" piece, decided to add a distorted guitar on top of the melodies played and even added some jungle ambient (with plenty of animals shouting etc) AND something to liven up the break
orchestral trapstep.. or something like that this is fun as fuck. Need to create more sustained suspense leading up to the drop or whatever, pre-appointment blues got me experimenting a little bit more with audio though edm song i'm working on, still pretty far from finished [editline]14th August 2014[/editline]
That's one beautiful panning instrument you have going, how did you do it? I like what you're doing with the jungle ambient stuff, really gives the track a complete feeling vibe [editline]14th August 2014[/editline]
Very impressed with this track, the mood it puts off is great and it feels like something I would here in a video game.
this is dirty as fuck, and I don't mean that in a bad way. I know it's a niche audience for this kind of thing, so I don't really know what I could say to give crit in this sorta style, but i feel some of your synths sound a little weak, your wobbles are mostly pretty good, it's those lead ones. What I mean by weak is they sound a bit loosely held together, they're still powerful, but I don't know how else to explain it, I think it's the reverb on them, something I run into myself quite often when fucking with synths. I'd consider going for a more airy sounding lead to balance out the dynamics a bit, or something a bit more string like, that's just me and my tastes though, I still think what you have there works, but it'd be interesting to hear it a little bit more diversified in terms of overall timbre in the bulk of it. Otherwise, pretty nifty, love the samples you've used, trip as fuck.
I don't post here much, but here's a little sketch I made with my new synth. Somehow the main synth went out of sync somewhere around 2:30

How do you feel about the jungle ambient, is it too loud or too low? I'm unsure myself, listened so much to it that everything is good and audible but it could be because I know it is there and know what to look for to hear it. Glad to have another musician with us, this particular forum has some rules that are unique so you should check them out. This thread in particular has a rule that in order to recieve constructive criticism you must also give. I'm sure you can understand why that is important, people around here all are eager to hear what other people have to say about their music, but that isn't possible unless the artist returns the favour. :) Don't be afraid to give your thoughts on music you maybe aren't a huge fan of, the music here is pretty diverse but the rules of musicianmanship are global. There are always going to be a song structure, there's going to be melodies and rhythm, and you can always comment on that even if the track itself isn't in your favourite genre. It can actually be beneficial to take one or more listens to different genres, since you can always find new exciting ideas that you can apply to your own music! Once again, welcome to this forum and thread, read the rules of this thread and the stickied thread (it is on top of all the threads in this forum) and go hogwild with the criticism, just a listen and a few words on if you liked/disliked it and some words to motivate why you liked/disliked it is all you need. Even better if you can formulate things you would've done differently, or praise the things that makes your head nod in rhythm with the track! :)

thread rules: post feedback when you post a song
thread rules: post feedback when you post a song
Ok I like all your guys songs they are pretty good.
Do you realize how much of a bellend you make yourself look like by coming here looking for feedback, while not willing to help others out, who want the exact same thing?
Ok I like all your guys songs they are pretty good.
dude try n actually be constructive instead of just being a colossal wankflap
Ok I like all your guys songs they are pretty good.
you're being a wanker and im not giving you feedback
Ok I like all your guys songs they are pretty good.
No one is gonna give you feedback so it's really your problem
check it out and stuff and tell me if I suck balls
I don't like your're songs, they are bad
check it out and stuff and tell me if I suck balls
needs more cowbell
Ok I like all your guys songs they are pretty good.
Hey friend, welcome to the subforums! As you might have realized by now by the response by other fellow musicians, the way to recieve proper feedback is to give proper feedback. Just writing "they are pretty good" is not something I bet you would like as a response to your track, instead you probably expect people to write a few words on why they like/dislike it right? This forum has a few rules set by the moderators that are bit specific, since this is a creative subforum. The biggest one is that in order to recieve good feedback one should do the same. Why would people take the time to listen to your track if you can't do the same to others? Time is precious after all and by taking a piece of your own time to help some other musician you show that you are in fact worth taking a few minutes of their own lives to help you. Check out the general rules thread of this particular forum and you'll find some good guidelines on how to make your stay a nice stay. I'm certain you're a cool person who have infinite potential to make some really kickass music, plus by listening and analyzing other people's music you can find out what works well for others, and apply it to your own music! Don't be afraid to give your thoughts on music you generally don't listen to, the laws of making music still apply universally so even if it is some heavy drum&bass (and you maybe are a country person) it still has melodies, tight rhythm and a structure, things that all are a part of country music! Hope to see more of you around here and don't forget to take the time to make some kickass constructive criticism, and you'll get the same from some other cool cat. :)
For the first one-- club tunes like that aren't my taste, but the kick sounds a little on the overpowering side. Something about it seems pretty empty, too. I think the synths bouncing along with the rhythm needed some more exaggeration and largeness to make them fit the aesthetic. (I was thinking maybe a bit louder with some reverb/EQ?) I quite liked the second one. Nice meaty bass kick thumping along to the beat and some cool synths. I felt like it needed some more synth progression with some pads to fill it up. I can't be certain with my speakers but I think its mixed decently too. Only thing that I noticed was that detuned bass may have started to muffle out the rolling low kicks when they played together. Speedy IDM stuff. Trying to design some drums with synths here and there. More warm pads and drum play

I know they're short clips, but they feel kind of unfinished, like they still have a lot of area to explore. Don't have much to say in what to improve though, I just want to hear more.
beats :-)
Liking the first one, the static sounds really compliment it. You should expand on this one The second one just seems kinda silly and messy. Do you have any plans to add on to these? I think they either need some vocals or some interesting synth leads.

The percussion at the start is cool, the glitchyness is nice, the break-down bit nearer the end where the melody comes in is cool too. I feel like the stereo image could use some work, though. It would make pretty good background music in a calmer story-driven videogame, is what I imagined. Your songs are a bit too repetitive for me to listen to them on their own, no offence. Maybe try throwing in some other instruments and sounds as a development in the song, change the rhythm and/or beat here and there. Generally mix things up and keep stuff dynamic! Now to prove that I am talking out of my ass and that I don't actually know what I'm talking about: A song I made with two of my best friends.
