I wouldn't get any of their big ticket items unless you know exactly what your doing. They are the goto place for smaller items like batteries and that kind of assortment. Granted I have bought a few of their planes and yes they do work great once you look over it for 8 hrs just tinkering with it to make it fit your needs. I'm going to guess their tanks are going to be plastic crap like every one else's tanks.. no offense.
I'm familiar with the tank brand they are selling. It's Heng Long, the cheaper alternative to other 1/16th RC Tank brands. Those tanks use ABS plastic so they are alright in sturdiness. I have the StugIII and it's pretty decent. I have yet to outfit it with metal & circuit board upgrades though.
Hobbyking is okay as long as you get the name brand stuff. Their airframes are also surprisingly well made. Just stay away from the really dodgy chinese shit on hobbyking and you'll be okay. Also, remember to support your local hobbyshop. There isn't many of us around and even though we can't keep every part on the shelf, the knowledge we have is great. Everyone in my store knows what the fuck we're talking about, and we have a lot of happy customers we know on a first name basis.
I've always loved RC, but never really got into it. I would really love to own a RC Drift car. Everytime I watch a RC Drift video I really want to get started with it.
If you want a decent cheap-o one, check out the hpi e-10 drift. http://www.hpiracing.com/en/kit/111664 It's definitely as bare-bones as it comes but for drifting you don't need hardly any power. It's extremely durable, though. Something else you'll want to look into is the Tamiya TT-02 chassis. Although a little more expensive, it is much higher end and has a lot of optional parts and much more realistic bodies. Again, stay away from the garbage chinese shit like redcat racing or exceed. Literally scams. Some websites that carry/own all the main brands and have great customer support: www.towerhobbies.com www.horizonhobby.com [editline]4th March 2015[/editline]
Why not? As far as I'm concerned, they're FPV quadrotors and the only difference between these and others is that you control it with a smartphone rather than a transmitter.
that's pretty much why. You're limited to wifi range. You can't even really directly control it, it effectively flies itself and only takes suggestions from you. Hell you can't even manually land it, you just tell it to land. That + crap build quality = you wont see it on my shelf, especially since there are several better quality ones that can do the job better for less.

Concerning the drift car, I've heard really good things about the Hobbyking Mission D but you have to keep in mind that it is after all a hobbyking product. [editline] u is gey[/editline] In other news, some idiot has been flying a Phantom 2 in Malaysian airports (I thought Dji had gps blockers near airports?) which cause a gigantic spur on the internet. He got arrested and the department of civil aviation tried to charge him but somehow he got off scot-free and even got a job offers from Malaysian Airports to make promotional videos. WTF m8. Him getting a Job offer would only feed the ego's of people flying irresposibly near airports.

Bit of a necrobump but I come with content! Today some friends and I demo'd some cars and quads for local firemen, on behalf of our hobbyshop. Here's everything we brought! These guys were really impressed.
