I love my Canon 600D, I made my school media film with it. Magic Lantern really opens it up, & I really love recording at 50 fps and then watching things at half speed (like my dog running through the park :v:).
Don't immediatly start off with purchasing a 2K DSLR or something. Begin with a simple, cheap compact or bridge camera to be sure if you really want to get into photography.
If youre looking on entry level DSLRs try the Nikon D60- it's pretty good in terms of picture quality and simple enough to use and get used to. It's pretty old tho- 6 years old i think? but its great
then take pictures of things, ideally outside/not your house. Taking photos of things around the house is a good place to practice but most people don't want to see that since it's generally not going to make an interesting subject.
This isn't sound advice. Yes do get out and about taking as many pictures as you can. Much like the 10,000 hours guide for practicing any subject, in photography your first 10,000 pictures will be your worst. But trying to take pictures of objects in your house is an excellent idea as it forces you to start thinking creatively rather than just snapping a moment in the streets or the landscape thats in front of you. When you are learning photography seriously, you need to learn about exposure, understand depth of field, and what better way to do that than in a controlled environment that gives you time to think about what shot you took and why it came out the way it did. I recently found myself lazy and not venturing outside, but wanted to photograph something so got the coke bottle out of the fridge and made this: It's not the greatest in the world, but it was something for me to do in my own home while the weather was bad,and I got to mess around with flash lighting. Light painting is really fun and can be done in your house. Some other ideas can be found here . But do not ignore your home for creative ideas. A macro Lens will open up a whole new world for you as well, leading to ideas like the ever popular water drops
