People with that synethesia see words/colors always in a different color.
Well that's just plain wrong. It's true that one of the most common types of synaesthesia is grapheme-colour, but it's by no means the only type. Pretty much any involuntary pairing of sensations in the brain is a form of synaesthesia, though some are much more common than others.
I have grapheme-colour synaesthesia, found out I had it when I was about 14 years old I think. I guess I just thought it was normal until I randomly saw a TV show about it and realised I had it. It's a pretty nice thing to have and it makes spelling very easy.
I 100% have it. i know how tv props feel without actually touching them
I think I have a reaaally mild version of this. I usually don't have any symptoms, but when I think of a 3 I always imagine it red. 2 is yellow, 5 is blue, 4 is green, 10 is black, 9 is dark gray, 8 is dark green, 7 is light gray, six is light brown, 1 is white.
Isn't this common with dyslexics or people otherwise unable to grasp more complex concepts?
It's probably not the same thing, but I assign my memories to colors and numbers, and then visualize them on a timeline.
I don't know
Maybe? Is there some kind of test?
I think I have color-graphemic synesthesia
When I read books though I have a tenancy to imagine how the landscape/persons would look like, I think.
I can relate to a lot of the symptoms, if you can call them that.
It was a lot more active and noticeable when I was a little kid, I especially remember how I pictured the word "hour"
When I listen to music I can kind of visualise what the waveforms would look like. Does that count?
I can visualize places and people PERFECTLY in my head. However, I cannot transfer them into drawings :smith:

Is that part of this, or am I just high?

I can also remember smell.
This is all normal stuff; you don't have synesthaesia
I love how every time someone posts a "condition" on Facepunch, EVERYONE has it no matter how rare it is.
It feels like people just pick a cool sounding disorder and say they have it to seem cool. Then EVERYONE on the forums goes "Oh yeah, right I see calenders in my head"... Which is normal visualization.
Other times someone will say "Oh I have legit OCD." Of course, everyone on Facepunch has OCD now "Yeah, every time I go to the bathroom, I just have to flush the toilet and wash my hands... I have major OCD man."
Yes, sort of.
I thought it was normal, whatever it doesn't make much of a difference.
I get letters-colour, sound-colour, and everything has a feel, and a personality attached to it as well (Not so much for sounds). Eg, the note D is brown, flat and wide (Open), and tied to running horses somehow :v:
I thought he was talking about the piano learning thing for a second.
i think similar to somebody with this but i'm not a synthesian
Only thing I can even slightly relate to this is numbers, letters, and other language characters. Numbers especially, each digit has a specific texture/shape/color/size to me (Same with vise versa, if I see a texture/color combination i'll think of the number). Same with the days of the weeks, months, and names; language in general, really (including foreign languages).
I'm pretty certain everyone has this to a certain extent, but not as much as real Synthesians who see vivid shapes and colors burst in front of them when they taste something. I was inspired by some video I saw a long time ago and did a test a while ago at my school to see what color people thought Monday was, and most said either green or blue.
I shouldn't've made this thread. I was expecting a small amount of people to say "Oh yeah I have x and y so that's what this is called!" and the rest to go "Lol aspbergers xD"
Instead it's just every facepuncher who's read the thread claiming they have it because of minor neurological happenings, making it impossible to tell who here actually has it and overall making a joke out of my OP. Half of you guys are just having thoughts and making it out to be synesthesia, while the other half is going "IMA EXPERT YOU GUYS DONT HAVE IT".
FAAAAAACEPUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCH! :argh:
According to the Synthesia Battery, i've got some form of synthesia, but it seems like it's quite subtle to me
I have a minor form of this with colors, mainly affecting letters and numbers. (Grapheme-color)
For example, A is (comfortable, friendly-feeling) red, B is (bright, sharp) yellow, C is a cool blue, D is a horrible purple-ish color.
This may have contributed somewhat to my academic success.
For me the alphabet up to M looks nice and bright
everything else is ugly as fuck
Same with numbers
1-5 are okay
6-9 are just eugh
10-15 are oaky
etc

oh just ignore them
I'm not sure if I have it, but I sometimes give numbers a gender. :v:
7 is yellow to me
it's just always been yellow, it just sounds like it fits yellow so good.

So I read up and apparently I don't.
I do have surprisingly good memory though
Letters and numbers have their colors for me.

What do you expect? It's a forum filled with 13-year-olds that want to feel special.
Completely disregard that I may be incorrect in my definition of synesthesia, you must call someone stupid for making a joke.

Typical Facepunch
Wow, if you seriously take offense to that, then you really are :downs:.
Thought you were talking about the piano program.
Me too.
Also, I have this, kinda. Everything just relates to everything for me.
I dunno, it's just kinda weird.
I think I have a very mild form of it with writing and numbers.
I can usually tell what a word means from just how it sounds. Also, I picture times as colors rather than times themselves. The present is always perceived as white, however.
