Bioshock Infinite: Boy Of Silence scare compilation

Usually I'm not one to fall for jump scares because they're pretty obvious most of the time, but this? The game didn't have any horror or startling shit before so I was like "nnnnnnggh"
just like the fricken splicer early on in one of the Bioshocks, forget which, its in like a medical room beside a bed.
I love how everyone who plays Bioshock: Infinite only uses the Carbine or the Handcannon.
because they're some of the best weapons obviously
glad to know I wasn't the only one freaking out not only once ,but twice. I knew what was coming the second time but it still got me :v:

I love using the shotgun personally, in all bioshock games idk why.
Always wondered, what happens if you back out of the room, without turning around :v:
I sort of went "AH FUCK". I wasn't expecting it, honestly. My mistake.
I wish things like these would affect me this much. I missed out on this one in particular, because I'm so used to backing up while turning because it is usually faster, I bumped into him and "felt" him, so I knew he was there. Disappointing.
The one in Bioshock didn't trigger correctly for me either.
i remember walking backwards and thinking a chair was in a way. then i turned around and all that happened was that i jumped a bit and just went 'OH'.
I haven't played the game, but it seems like a throwback to the Dr.Steinman scare.

I always use a carbine when I can in (single-player) games, it just feels rewarding. Especially the hunting rifle in Fallout 3/NV (even though they don't have all the same traits).
When I turned around and saw the Boy I just froze in place, I didnt say a word and didnt move an inch until he vanished. I was too shocked to even react.
How is that scary? Man, none of them have played Silent Hill.

in videogames, scary is synonymous with startling
I think that both the Patriot and the Boys of Silence were huge disappointments, they were both really easy to beat and there was nothing really that scary about them after you have then encountered them more than once.
Just like the entire game!
it's funny how a game can be summed up by its own contents to equal the fact it's disappointing..
Same with the last of us. Stop making the same game over and over again. People actually think you did something new and innovative when it gets high scores because of the name and the fact the devs didn't completely fuck it up. They still did though.

You'll just get stopped by the NPC, so you'll have to look around

Silent hill isn't really scary in the startling sense.
It's scary in the real sense, which oddly enough isn't the norm.
A real scary game doesn't make you shit your pants when something pops out of a vent and screams blarg. A real scary game has you shitting your pants constantly, and has minimal if any startle scares. In fact a real scary game shouldn't be fuck full of monsters and shit...
It should be like... Silent hill. Or amnesia, or penumbra. You hardly see foes in those games relatively speaking. The tension is what makes a truly scary game (I'm not forgetting about atmosphere, that's a big part of it)
I love how obvious it is when you're watching pc gameplay and then console gameplay.
everything is just smushed together on the console versions with the tight fov and large hud.
I remember playing this part at like 2 AM at a really high volume, didn't scream, just paused the game and started pacing in my room for a minute trying to get my heartrate back at healthy levels. :v:
The Boys of Silence were really disappointing, though. I was expecting them to be more of a thing in the game, not just in one section and with no background info of any kind. This video shows them walking around, and they probably originally were gonna detect you by sound, not by their weird eye beams that didn't have an explanation.

Went 15 minutes and forgot to include the video with the post, lol

To be honest, the level that the boys of silence were in PERFECTLY fit them. They would look really out of place in rest of the game levels in my opinion.

I used just the starter pistol and shotgun through the entire game on hard, had almost no trouble.

Give me a list of all the games the last of us and bioshock infinite were exactly like and were just rehashes of.
If you can give me a list i will accept what you said. As it is i think you're completely wrong in terms of Bioshock Infinite. Was it a flawless game? not at all. Was it an amazingly well made game? Exceptionally well made infact.
Don't even get me started. Seriously

I think the shotgun is much more rewarding. The carbine just feels too safe with that nice damage and range, you can't even go full retard with it

I sorta agree, but sorta dont. I think its just a matter of preference. Amnesia is more creepy than scary, it has that vibe that something bad is gonna happen at any second, but there aren't really any memorable "scary moments".
I think games like FEAR also work though, because the jumpscares with Alma are pretty well done sometimes.
And then there's games with both types, like Dead space. You're always worried, and the background noises make everything worse, but there's also the jump scares when enemies come out. It's all down to preference, imo.
