51%? That's like half!
I'm Christian and I too believe there is Evolution, I always have, the bible is not a rulebook, it is entirely open to interpretation. You do not HAVE to follow it to the letter, anyone who says otherwise is either an extremist or not a Christian.
Evolution - Well, it HAPPENS. TODAY. I, as a Lutheran, must say, i can not understand why there are people that believe in Creationism. It's easy to take one's beliefs and form one's image of the World after them, whilst it is difficult to look at the world as a whole and try to form one's beliefs after it - and not lose faith. In my opinion, this world is what we have. From God, Fate, whatever you may call it. You have to take what it offers - scientifically, naturally, just everything, and to take a stand. Creationism is just so ... dumb. It is a principle of culture's weakness. Of people who cannot believe w/o signs and who cannot accept that we're on a rock, floating in space, condemned to 10000 years of boredom. (In a wider sense)
first what kind of books do you wright and 2nd if you study almost all of the bible came from older religions as far back as the old sun god
This thread is a shit hole and your not helping one bit with your horrid grammar. I was raised Christian from Day 0. My parents were both heavily delved into Christianity. "Extremists" would be a good descriptive word. Good thing I didn't turn out like that. Ha. I'm not exactly sure where I stand on "Evolution". I also dont think everything just popped up in 7 days as the Bible states. There's too much evidence that the world took millions of years to slowly evolve. I just think God had a direct part in evolution. From the first amino acid building blocks all the way to present day dipshit homo sapiens. Like someone said a few posts earlier. The Bible is more or less a bunch of metaphors, misconceptions and misinterpretations.
There's a kid in my school with a 4.0 gpa going to some fancy-pants college this year who doesn't believe in evolution. I've tried arguing with him, and it's like arguing with a 3 year old. He says animals have this thing called "adaption" that is changing slightly but not into an entirely new species. I tried explaining that small changes over time creates a new species, but he claims that there's something stopping that. I facepalmed repeatedly.
Evolution is real, everyone knows that. When you get into the religious aspects though, like who or what started/controlled it, be it chance or a God, is when things get tricky.
I'm not surprised, the same amount of americans actually believe that america is the best country in the world :xd:
If I'm not mistaken didn't someone just get out of office somewhere in Europe and he stated that "A country's greatness is determined by the amount of people that want to live there" USA would be near or on the top then... I'm "smart" but I just procrastinate to the point where I'm near failing.
I'm a Christian and I believe in evolution. God created the world in seven days? He didn't need that time, that's a metaphor, or a mistranslation. I hold more of a creation/evolution hybrid belief.

I'm Christian and I too believe there is Evolution,
Agreed.

I bring up facts, examples etc and they just reply: "GOD DID IT NO NO NO GOD DID IT" I raged, Creationists don't know enough about the topic. But I'm not the only atheist at my school (phew).
Evolution hasn't been proven, there's still missing links. That's why it's called the theory of evolution.
Everything in science is a theory fyi
Everything in science is a theory fyi
dont pay any attention to him, he is a troll or very stupid.
Everything in science is a theory fyi
incorrect
The majority of people don't need to believe in evolution seeing how believing in it wouldn't have any effect on their life.
I go to a Catholic school (sigh) and I try having debates with the Creationists.
Quality OP.... I believe in Evolution, that doesn't mean it's true (although 99% likely that it is). It's not taught in a lot of schools either.
How can people not get this. You do not BELIEVE a scientific fact, because that means there must be a substantial chance it will be wrong.
Status of evolution teaching in US schools: States that want to challenge evolution teaching are in yellow: I especially address this to people that believe that believing or not believing in evolution does not have an effect on people. Those same people that do not believe in evolution will fight tooth and nails to get off the school agenda. It does have an effect, it has an effect on millions of people and it reduces the overall knowledge of the student population and stifles intellectual progression.
i found out that 51% of America doesn't believe in evolution
1. A++ Grammar 2. Capitalize "I" if you want anyone to take you seriously 3. I assume you are referring to the USA when you say America, but when you are trying to state a 'statistic', say the United States, not America.
I love it when people assume theory means the exact same thing as hypothesis.
I'll break it down for you. If you are Christian, you follow the bible. You believe in god and his creation of Earth. If you are Christian and support evolution, then god becomes a mere figure in the sky, a deity with no real purpose. Unless ofcourse you take the theistic evolution approach to things where god has created evolution, which is in itself ridiculous. I don't know how you can truly consider yourself to be Christian yet still support evolution. In this post for some reason you thought I was implying that Christians are idiots or ignorant for not believing in evolution, when that is not the case. I personally think that people can believe in what they want to and I'm not one to stop them unless they are inflicting harm. Do you want me to make a flowchart? I think it'll help you comprehend everything a bit better.
you do know that not all Christians take the bible literally? I'm not christian, but I see the bible as a book of stories that teaches morals, and I know a lot of other people feel that way as well.
Well moving too Denmark could help your problem, but we got multi-religius people around... But still the most annoying is Jehovas Witnesses, damn I hate those guys -.-
To get rid of them, answer the door naked.
It's hard as fuck to read your posts if you can't type without flailing your arms on your keyboard.
its not that bad everyone else knew what i was saying. you just love seeing peoples flaws when it comes to writing and i must be a 7 course meal for you
The only thing about evolution that we can't fully prove is our own. [editline]08:38PM[/editline] Yet.
Evolution hasn't been proven, there's still missing links. That's why it's called the theory of evolution.
just like gravity and the shape of the earth
