I'll join this if I get a camera.
Lockerz shall help me with that.
I always wanted to learn something about drawing. I might consider doing this.
Someone should post a little how to draw guide so people who can't draw can at least have good looking decent drawings
Another one from me.

Okay so this is the last of the old stuff I will be submitting, I'll be working on some newer stuff for this sketchbook, from tomorrow on :D

I usually just go off this advice: Break it down in to lines in your head. Look at a face. Is it a nose? No, it's a line that curves gently before curving sharply at the bottom. I find it much easier to copy drawings, because the lines are already there, so copying photos isn't much more difficult if you just imagine it as a bunch of lines rather than a full picture.
Start drawing simple things, like fish or objects to get started. Once you start getting them in proportion, you're set.
Divide your page, and the image you work from, in to sections (I usually divide down the centre lengthways and across the width) so there should be a cross in the middle of your page and your subject. (THIS SHOULD ONLY BE LIGHT SO IT CAN BE RUBBED OUT.) Then, find the part of the picture at the centre, then find the centre of your page, and work from there. The rest is simple. I reccommend looking at how to draw videos on youtube if you need more help, it is better to watch videos than read a guide because you can see what the artist is doing with his hands, pencil strokes etc.
And using this method it is possible to become really good at art. The improvement from my Year 9 sketchbook to my GCSE Sketchbook is phenomenal, and all I had to do was focus on it being lines, not a person or a cup or an orange or a super complex machine.

And the saying practice makes perfect is true, you don't get as good as the post above me overnight (unless you're me - I really don't know what happened there, haha)
Also, drawings take time. Don't expect to get drawings done in 20 minutes, some of my doodles have taken over an hour to 2 hours to do. But then again, don't let that put you off! And if you find that you're making many mistakes, take a break.
Plus, there's 1000s of tutorials on the internet. I like the method where you draw circles or ovals for each body part then draw the outline, but I always sucked at it. Seemed like a cool concept though. It's the method you usually find in the "I can draw xxxx" where xxxx is like a shark or a whale or something. I loved those books as a kid, I actually have the "I can draw sharks" one still. I will take a picture of one of the pages for you to practice the technique if I can find it.
I mean these books, they're by terry longhurst. Turns out my mum threw them out, but anyway, if you can find these books they're definitely worth looking at if you're just starting out. They're kids books but they're still pretty damn useful.

Edit:
Uploading photos to create a mini guide on the "I can draw" methods for you all.
I'm a bit useless with dogs so I used a picture. http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/images17/NorthernInuitDogFreya14wks.JPG
Step 1: Draw the circles/ovals to represent main parts of the body: Head, Jaw, Ears, Legs, Body (2 parts) - YOUR ANIMAL/HUMAN/WHATEVER WILL NOT ALWAYS HAVE THIS EXACT AMOUNT OF CIRCLES. IT DEPENDS ON THE ANIMAL. FISH ARE REALLY SIMPLE FOR THIS REASON (Many fish are only a couple for the body, 1 for each fin and a few for the tail.) We're going to call these circles "construction lines".

Sorry for the faded lines, I had the flash on and now I've drawn it all there's no going back.
Step 2: Wow, you have your circles mapped out! Check they're in proportion. Now, you can start adding the outline around the circles, to make it look more dog like. Rough, jagged lines make him look more furry, whereas straight, clean lines make him look more... well smooth I guess.

Step 3: Looking more like a dog every second! Erase those construction lines to make it just the outlines. Be careful not to rub out your outline!

What a wonderful outline! But we're not stopping there, oh no!
And Finally, Step 4: Shade him in baby! Add the finishing touches to your surroundings too. I used the grass mainly to cover up the feet because I'm useless at them.

All in all it took about 10 minutes to do this drawing, including picture taking time. It's pretty simple when you use this method. Detailed shading is what takes a long time.

Nice work Nautsabes. It's creepy how your avatar and the first image are... staring at each other.
I think you did that on purpose.
