Great album, highly overrated though. I think KID A and In Rainbows are better albums. I think OK Computer is a very single-y album while In Rainbows and KID A seem to flow very nicely and everything seems to be in it's right place (:v:)
I don't like to say it's overrated.
I'd like to say it's their most celebrated. And I think for a band to earn that on such a level, deserves credit.
Kid A may be more deep and moving, it is a breakthrough in pop culture, but this is already widely accepted. I can accept that people may find Kid A or In Rainbows a bit weird or freaky. They're experimental and artsy.
I gotta say, Radiohead is overrated as fuck.
Possibly THE most overrated band, imo.

I disagree. Pretty much no one at my school has even heard of Radiohead.
Do you go to school in the South or something?
Your high school does not equal the majority of music fans worldwide either.
They aren't overrated, but I know where you're coming from. The music they are appreciated for in the mainstream (i.e. Creep) is overrated beyond human description. Their best music still has quite a niche demographic.

You're probably right.
Bands that are in obscurity, that are artful and experimental... Can be better.
But these guys are celebrated. So why complain? It's not like they're causing the industry to move backwards.

I think their pre-electronic phase is overrated in comparison to what they are now. They're one of the few artists that I can actively listen to and find the same depth that I get from early prog bands and traditional composers. I find it disappointing when people say The Bends is one of their best albums.
Okay.
Overrated and Underrated are suckish ways of describing bands.

I don't understand why you'd post in a thread just to make a negative comment about a band you obviously don't care about. In my own honest opinion, it's rather pathetic.
Be quiet.
It's one of those albums that grow on you. First impression was it was pretty bad and depressing, all disjointed and stuff. But after the 3rd listen I thought it was brilliant.
Nah I loved it the first listen and I still love it.
It's one of the most easily accessible albums for this generation.
Can't say I understand the appeal of this album. Sounds like every other alt rock band.
I like OK computer but it saddens me how better albums (The Moon and Antarctica, Lift your skinny fists, Turn on the Bright Lights) from other artists are not recognized the same way when I wish they would

So right. But that's where we as the music section should pay more attention to them :3:
The only Radiohead's song I like is Pulk/Pull Revolving Doors.

You should get a Last FM account.
Ok, here is my explanation for my opinion.
I heard Radiohead I heard generic alt rock. I hear the same "sound" as Blur, U2, Interpol, Coldplay, Neutral Milk Hotel, etc. They just don't make themselves appear special whatsoever to me.

In terms of "sound" I take it on board because they're the same genre.... so it's like saying
"Marvin Gaye and Al Green sing about the same thing therefore neither are unique"
They're unique in personality and expression. "Style" wise....we'll see.

Sorry if I'm being a protective fanboy here, but... Have you heard any of their new stuff? The time between Pablo Honey and OK Computer was all good, but since then they've tried, and accomplished so much more than their own sound.
King Of Limbs was half good Radiohead.

My opinion on it the first time was kind of sceptical; It was too short, and was very different. Now I've grown to absolutely love it, it have become my favorite album and it's not that short if you just take your time, to sit down, listen and examine every single part of it. It's a lovely album, but that's just my opinion.
Other way for me.
I was loving it at first. Still do, but now I realise the unevenness. You see, from "Lotus Flower" onwards, it's REALLY good.
Before then, it's kind of experimentation that doesn't seem to develop as good as it could have.
It's still nice.
I ordered the newspaper album and it's still not fucking here! >:L

I understand, I won't lie; It's a difficult album, but it manages to take me somewhere out of this world if I just close my eyes, and listen. None of Radiohead's older albums ever had that effect on me.
Guess that's why I love it so much. :v:

When did you order it? I recived mine 5 days ago.
Dude, don't get me wrong. Give Up The Ghost is friggin' godly.
The opening is layered really nicely too.
As a whole, it can put you in that state.

I'm rather glad I can actually "talk" to people who knows their music, especially Radiohead. You're a cool guy, and I couldn't agree more.
TKOL seems very incomplete to me. Half ideas put into a full attempted record. Doesn't end up well. I still like it and own it though.
You know, I still have yet to listen to The King of Limbs
I should get on that
I still feel that there's more coming to TKOL from the whole part 2 theories, or at least new stuff from Radiohead pretty soon (2011-2012)

lol I remember that yesterday I wanted to finish eating as fast as possible just so I could return and listen to optimistic.

Radiohead managed to somewhat change my life. I like to search for lyrics in their songs that relate to my life, even if they don't mean nothing at all/something completely different.
