So how much of this is filmed in IMAX? The wikipedia article seems to suggest a lot but it doesn't give a number.
Also I like how Iceland is the default location to film other planets.

It's pretty much got enough varied terrain to film a galaxy.

Well recently-formed lands shaped by volcanic activity would certainly look rather "alien".
Speaking of which, I dunno if I've asked this before, but will this film have xenos in it?
I recognize some of those locales from Prometheus.
Thank you postal for feeding our brains' movie-hungry pleasure-centers
Am I the only one who thinks it'd be pretty neat for Kip Thorne and/or Stephen Hawking to get cameo roles in this?
Am I the only one who thinks it'd be pretty neat for Kip Thorne and/or Stephen Hawking to get cameo roles in this?
The first one wouldn't be that surprising, seeing how he served as a consultant for the script and is an executive producer.
It was reported awhile back during a cinemacon Q&A that Kip Thorne was approached to play himself in a quick cameo in the film, but it was never confirmed if he ended up doing it or not. I can't actually find the original source for this report though but it's still a pretty obvious thing to do since there's gonna be scenes where we'll see a bunch of scientists walking about. We'll find out soon enough.
New TV spots dropped earlier in advance of this week's new trailer. Don't think I posted the first 2 since I don't think you should keep watching all the footage if you know you want to see the film, but whatever here they are anyways!

Yeah I'm gonna stop watching trailers n shit now.
[sp]So I guess we have our answer about the time travel theories. Their ship has some sort of FTL drive, and when active, time is experienced by the crew at 1.62970761e-5 % the speed back on Earth, where 1 hour in FTL = 7 Earth years.[/sp]
This has made me way more hyped than I was for Inception

[sp]they aren't using the whole time clearly - hundreds of years do not go by in the film[/sp]

[sp]Yeah, I know. The conversion rate I lifted straight from the dialogue in that spot. I didn't mean hundreds of years passed.[/sp]

[sp]I got that. My point was more "this is something they flick on for 10 hours in the film, if that"
Basically its obviously there as a drama device. Something they need to use but only as little as possible so Matt can get home to his kids[/sp]
Those robots look pretty cool though. Oddly enough I'm looking forward to them the most based off that article. I have a hard time picturing just how they're going to move and function and stuff.

[sp]I know? I agree. I think we both understand the same things, and we're just saying them back and forth to one another.[/sp]
Trailer 4 reportedly drops today. I won't be around to post it though so someone else can.

Certain theaters will be doing Tuesday night showings for this. I believe It's tied to theaters with legit IMAX's, not those shitty tiny digital IMAX's but the actual 70mm projection capable ones. Which are very few and far between. Though some theaters are trying to change that in advance of Interstellar's debut:
http://www.slashfilm.com/tcl-chinese-interstellar-imax-70mm/
And also "IMAX will post a full list of 70mm Interstellar IMAX theaters in the coming weeks" expect a very short list. It was hard enough to find one for inception but with the rate that they've been getting converted to digital I'll be very surprised if there's one anywhere near where I live that isn't just reserved for showing documentaries.
Here's a list for the USA
http://www.lfexaminer.com/theaUSA.htm
Theaters marked IMAX, 1570, and F are legit movie IMAX's. But you'll then have to look them up to make sure it's not just some Museum's documentary theater.
If all else fails, you can at least go by the seat number to ensure you're not getting one of those scam level fake IMAX's that are just tiny screens with the IMAX label slapped on.

Script was leaked a few years ago. From what we've seen so far the script hasn't changed much, at least the first part / half of the film.
http://www.interstellarmovie.com/vrexperience/
Certain theaters will be having an Oculus Rift station where people can apparently simulate exploring the spaceship from the movie.
I guess films are doing Oculus Rift tie-ins now? That's kinda neat.
[editline]2nd October 2014[/editline]
Also, Kip Thorne's book on the film is coming soon:

Will be available when the film releases.

Film premiering in London on October 29th. So far just for the Odeon.

Can expect reviews to start popping up around then I suppose.

The music from the trailer if anyone's wondering.
idk if anyone cares about this sorta stuff or not, but Paul Thomas Anderson, the director of "There will be blood" etc, is yet another Hollywood vet to have gotten into a screening for the film:
"fucking incredible. Brave the line. See it in IMAX."

"A beauuuutiful film. Watch it in Imax. Support this filmmaker!"

Nothing major but still cool to know.
Promotional imagery for the Oculus Rift promotional event going on at select theaters that I mentioned a few days ago:
