Like it or not, so far his magnum opus is Inception
people think this?
people think this?
Yeah I always thought Memento was his magnum opus, he never outdid it.
people think this?
General opinion? Yes. Nolan himself? Probably, it was his dream project that he was working on for almost ten years. Me personally? He doesn't have one yet, opening sequence from TDKR doesn't count.
Got my tickets in IMAX for opening night! FUCK YEAH the hype is real

This is definitely the most mixed reception Nolan's gotten yet. Still probably another 200 reviews to go, and generally scores tend to get lower after a movies release. idk maybe studios try not to invite the really dickish critics to movie premiers or something? regardless, this is still far from a flop, so I'll certainly be trying to catch this in Imax 70 mm. [editline]30th October 2014[/editline] There's a metric fuck ton of cast interviews floating around from the various screenings that have been going on. I'll just post them all after the movies out.
I hope the negative reviews are from the movie being really out there and unbelievable.
heh
There was just a great interview with Anne Hathway on BBC 6 Music. She talks up all the science of the film and how accurate it is. She couldn't give much away plot-wise. But it was a nice insight into the film and Anne even went into some of the music shes loving at the moment. I imagine it'll be on iPlayer in about an hour. About 2 hours 10 minutes in. There's a point Hathway tells presenter Lauren Laverne off for dropping a potential spoiler that Anne herself was trying to avoid saying for a chunk of the interview. I don't think it is a major one, just the relationship between her and Michael Caine's character [sp]he's her father. Isn't that info already about anyway?[/sp]
25 hours until I get to see it. Hnnnngh.
one week left for us 'mericans
one week left for us 'mericans
What I like about Nolan's films and Warner Bros. is that they have simultaneous release almost everywhere.
Holy shit Apparently the IMAX nearest to me (from the Henry Ford, AKA pretty much the best IMAX theater anywhere) is showing Interstellar on Tuesday in a 'Special Advance Premiere.' Well, ok then
See this in Imax probably Friday or Monday. Can't WAAAIT
I just got out of the advanced preview. Runtime was about a minute under 3 hours. Will post more when I he home. But first: Spoilers? Y/N
just tell us if its good
I just got out of the advanced preview. Runtime was about a minute under 3 hours. Will post more when I he home. But first: Spoilers? Y/N
how does it compare to inception
I just got out of the advanced preview. Runtime was about a minute under 3 hours. Will post more when I he home. But first: Spoilers? Y/N
You could just use spoiler tags, that way people that do want to read spoilers will be able to etc most people probably just want to hear a 1-10 rating though. The films release is just days away so I at least am just gonna wait to see the movie rather than read anything more on it. [editline]1st November 2014[/editline] Some clips went online btw:
9.5/10 [sp]Matt Damon is also in the movie.[/sp]
know a guy who works for village who saw it and says 'gravity is now dead to me'
that's silly everyone knows (or should know) gravity was a good movie but received a lot of hype it didn't deserve, including that best picture nom.
It's still a technical masterpiece though.
Gravity was poop. Like it looked good, and Sandra Bullock was good in it. But that's about it.
that's silly everyone knows (or should know) gravity was a good movie but received a lot of hype it didn't deserve, including that best picture nom.
It deserved five of its seven Oscars (Cinematography, Direction, Visual Effects, Sound Mixing and Editing), with the other two (Score and Sound Editing) being questionable, but strong contenders nevertheless. It wasn't the second coming of Christ, but still one of the best space sci-fis of last years (but then it's not like we have them popping up every two months.)
imo the effects in gravity were pretty shotty. I didn't see it in theaters and maybe that really is the best cg we can do right now but all of it was still obviously CG and it looked really fake

also because I've played KSP I know almost everything they did in that movie was incorrect and it stuck out really bad I hope that doesn't happen in interstellar but it probably will.
gravity was actually pretty sound physics wise its just unbelievably unlikely
IRL space travel is an incredibly slow and boring process, you have to make up bullshit to make it interesting for a movie
I think I'm actually going to go out and see this in theaters. [sp]all by myself for that enriched immersion feeling[/sp] [sp]haha just kidding I'm a fucking loner[/sp]
I prefer to watch movies alone, I don't have to hide the way it makes me feel. I am a very emotional person
