Well I'm willing to excuse him pulling a Burton for Michael Caine.
But that's it.
"Pulling a Burton" has a bit of pejorative meaning. When constant using one actor makes fantastic effect we should call it "Pulling a Kurosawa".
Nolan just needs to marry Caine and the transformation into Burton will be complete
Also he can "pull a " whatever with Zimmer too

I thought mac was pretty good in it, maybe you didn't like the character because he was very authentic as a crazed religist.
I'm more negative because he was recently here:

However he did land a role in that new Scorsese film... guessing we'll just have to wait.

also Matthew was fantastic in Killer Joe and Bernie.

It's a generic rom-com. If there's any acting in a film like that, it's incredibly banal.
not all romcoms are generic though :-)
However:
After Connor delivers a drunken speech at the rehearsal dinner where he says that love isn't real, he's met in the bathroom by the ghost of his uncle Wayne
That sound like a generic romcom to you? :v:
I've seen some pretty different ones but most of the time, in essence they're basically the same
Guy breaks girls heart, funny stuff happens, he learns from his mistakes and they get together
Space warrior destroys a fleet of the emperor's spaceships, funny stuff happens, learns from his mistakes and gets together with the space princess
Caveman causes accident in the tribe, funny stuff happens, he learns and goes off with the girl to hunt mammoth
Etc
Watch Killer Joe to see Matthew act really well, with the right director he's a very capable actor.

Yes. A rom-com that takes its plot from A Christmas Carol.
Although, I will admit, not all rom-coms are bad, however, most are.
Any credibility as an actor that Mathew McConaughey had goes right out the window when I remember that this is a thing...

There was this thing i saw some day on him, it had these REALLY bad posters for shitty fake movies with him. Anyone know what I'm talking about?
Edit: found them

A little shittier than I remember
I just don't think he's a very good actor outside of comedy and sappy rom-com / drama stuff. He's never been able to pull off a serious role that didn't have me thinking every 5 minutes about how strange he delivered X line or Y look. I don't hate him as an actor, I just don't think he'll do this movie justice, that's all. And yes, I know we have to wait for some tangible material before making that a final judgement, but I just don't see it working.
Lincoln lawyer wasn't too bad I suppose. But I still felt it was lacking something that a 'better' or more suited actor could have bought to the role.
Well here's one big mystery solved. As you may or may not know, Nolan has done all of his films (except The Following) with Wally Pfister as the cinematographer. But since Wally is now making his directorial debut with "Transcendence" (also with Nolan producing), Nolan has had to hire another cinematographer. It's now official that the replacement will be Hoyte Van Hoytema, the cinematographer of "Let The Right One One", "The Fighter", and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy"
Very awesome choice.
If you haven't seen it already, here's the trailer to "Tinker Tailor Solider Spy" where you can check out his fantastic camera work:

I want the sci-fi to be so fucking hard that you couldn't break it with a diamond tipped drill.

That is actually an amazing choice. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy was stunning visually, and did a great job capturing the coldness and harshness of Cold War. I wonder how he will do space movie, but we will see.
Feels like it can be similar visually to 2001: A Space Odyssey, knowing it's one of Nolan's favourite movies.
Next up to join the film: Jessica Chastain
She's the one from zero dark thirty.
People often mock Nolan because of his female cast choices but I think that except Maggie Gyllenhaal in TDK, all actresses have played their roles really well.
I like Chastain, and I'm really glad it's not Marion Cotillard.
omggg guys you're nEVer gonna guess what was just announced!!!1

I bet all the articles announcing this were pre-written months ago
I'm not all that surprised, but still- fuck yeah.
Ah sweet, My Cocaine is an awesome actor.
I bet he will be some sort of a mentor for main character.
So now all we need is Zimmer
What about Bale?
The only thing more constant across Nolan's filmography than a role for Michael Caine, is the brutal death of a woman the main character loves as a major plot point. Wonder how that makes Nolan's wife feel seeing as how she finances his films...
Anyways, fuck all else to discuss so place your bets: i'm gonna say Chastain dies. Hathaway might be the safer bet but idk, going with this one just because.
how awesome would it be if caine played the villain, i'd really like that. especially in a nolan film, completely flip his previous roles on their head.
Well if this is a sci fi film then this might be a man vs the universe type plot and not have a villain

It worked really well in Sunshine, well, before third act.
The pre-chris nolan re-write of the script from 2008 has leaked to the net apparently. It's 153 pages and people seem to really be liking it. Even though it's been re-written to who knows what extent, I'm not gonna bother reading it. People are discussing it without spoilers here if you want to get a slight idea of what it's like, but if you really want to just read it for yourself, here you go: http://www.scribd.com/doc/143698381/Interstellar
as far as being legit, well the original leak file info seems to match up (ignore the top file name part, that was changed by the guy that took the picture)

and considering how long Jonah's script was sitting on a desk before Chris finally grabbed it, it's not too hard to imagine it leaking. Plus I doubt someone would fake a 153 page script and also not have it suck, but stranger things have happened...
once they start announcing the names of characters people are playing beyond Cooper we'll get a better idea of if this is legit or not for sure.
EDIT: oops they deleted it. Did anyone download it?
Heard on the radio Caine will play a professor. Not so sure that means hero or villain.
