Both of the leads are actors I would consider bad. Especially the guy who's name I can't spell. Anne Hathaway was pretty good in TDKR which gives me some hope that under Nolans direction she'll be good again.
hahahhaha i wish i could go back in time and slap my fucking self
I just got back from seeing Godzilla, and the new trailer was pretty damn nice. As someone foolishly optimistic about the future of mankind, this movie excites me.
just saw the trailer where is that music from, i know i've heard it before ah, a track from v for vendetta, nice choice. looks fucking sick anyway.
I reckon it will be some pseudo science stuff based on real life physics. The inside of anything that creates gravitation lensing like that is pretty much speculation with our current understanding of singulairtys/blackholes. Wasn't the script under Spielberg pretty crazy? Nolan is usually more tame with his stuff with the exception of a few things in inception.
So someone leaked the script half a year ago. Apparently it was the 2008 draft and should be different now, but there are some things in the trailer that match the leaked script. I don't have it saved so I can't post it, but if it keeps a lot of the stuff from the old script, I'm not gonna be happy. Plot twist galore, as per usual with Nolan films.
I thought that was the old script, exactly why Nolan spent ages fixing it.
No he was busy with TDKR and producing other movies. He didn't spend 6 years fixing it
the kids grow up over the span of the movie. movie confirmed to take place over long periods of time [t]http://i.imgur.com/dmRiEsM.png[/t] i bet you didn't notice this in the trailer
was pretty obvious, her older self is wearing dad's jacket

That's pretty cool.
I'd consider it a spoiler.
it's the studio's fault then shit, i just watched the flash reveal trailer and it feels like i saw the entire pilot
it's the studio's fault then shit, i just watched the flash reveal trailer and it feels like i saw the entire pilot
Not really. I (just like majority of people, I presume) watched this trailer once. I got the basis premise, I saw the interesting scenes taken out of context and interesting actors, and I heard few catchy lines. And from that alone I'd never take the information about [sp]Casey Affleck and Jessica Chastain playing McConaughey children from the future.[/sp] Getting that information requires methodical rewatching and looking for clues. But yeah, the trailer doesn't feel like Nolan's trailer. It lacks maybe not in the scale, but it lacks the previous badassery, as it was with Inception, TDKR, TDK or even Prestige. I'm not saying that it's a bad thing - on the contrary. I think he kind of matured as a filmmaker and returns to making more personal and smaller films (because how a film about space travel for 200M dollars can be small). Think how Ridley Scott never returned to the kind of films he was making at the beginning.

Few bits of questionable news floating around lately: A VFX guy on twitter who claims to work on the film says post-production is finished: https://twitter.com/antoniovfx/status/476040633405423616 He's been around for a long time and certainly seems legit, but what is certain is that some private screenings have happened. Also, some guy claims to have talked to one of the people that saw it, and this was his spoiler free summary of the guys thoughts:
Might be something on Twitter later today, but that depends on the specific person. Don't expect anything in depth or spoilery, just a general reaction (very positive). What I heard is this: First act plays out like expected, lays the groundwork nicely. Slow burner and low key Nolan like his smaller works. Beginning and middle parts of the film are superb but the final stretch is "mind boggling". Tons of visual sci fi candy, vfx noms are an obvious lock (said there were still areas that were being worked on when she saw the screening but for the most part everything was finished and spotless). The ending is Nolan's most emotionally moving yet. McC like stated before is in top form and really powers the film. It's his ride from start to finish. Didn't get anything about the rest of the cast besides the fact everyone was great. Zimmer knocks it out of the park, a real game changer for him creatively. That's about all I got from it.
People on the forum apparently trust the guy, but obviously I can't really say for sure if he's telling the truth since anyone could've just made that shit up lol. But whatever, this is currently what everyone's talking about since there's been fuck all else in the way of news, so there you go.
eh i dunno that plot /script must've changed A LOT for it to get that kind of reaction. that or this guy is a bit too far of nolan fan
"hans zimmer knocks it out of the park, a real game changer for him creatively" Alright, I have shit my bricks for today. Time to change my pants.
Zimmer knocks it out of the park, a real game changer for him creatively.
So, instead of rousing music played by a vast symphony orchestra, it's just a small man playing tympani and a kazoo in the corner.
It's dubstep.
no, and no
It's dubstep.
academy award confirmed
"hans zimmer knocks it out of the park, a real game changer for him creatively" Alright, I have shit my bricks for today. Time to change my pants.
Movie looks promising but this gets me really excited. Love Zimmer's work and always look forward to hearing more.
Nothing too major yet again, but for those interested about Kip Thorne's involvement, here's a quote from a recent interview: http://phys.org/news/2014-06-kip-thorne-discusses-discovery-thorne-zytkow.html
"What are you working on now that you are retired? I'm an executive producer of the film Interstellar, directed by Christopher Nolan and based in part on the science I've done during my Caltech career. Greater secrecy surrounds Interstellar than most any movie that's been done in Hollywood. I'm not allowed to talk about it, but let's just say that I've been spending a lot of my time on it in the last year. And I've recently finished writing a book about the science in Interstellar."
The hype increases.
Still not much for news, but whatever it's still a step up from the review reactions last time since now there's actual credibility involved. Edgar Wright also talked to some guys that saw the early screenings A writer for Collider also talked with someone that saw it, but his tweet has since been deleted as far as I can tell
Steven Weintraub ‏@colliderfrosty 11 mins @edgarwright I also spoke to someone that saw it and they just raved and raved and raved.
Hyped.
I cannot wait for this god damn film. When I first saw the initial trailer; I had no idea this film was even Sci-Fi, but it still made my underwear wet. After discovering it was not only a Sci-Fi film, but one that is set in space and involves multiple dimensions???? God damn this film looks amazing! Already pumped!!
Hyped.
i can't watch the trailer too many times, it got me fucking pumped seeing it the day it came out and then unexpectedly seeing it on the big screen when i went to see godzilla.
Well then, that was fast. Trailer #3 is coming very soon. 2:25 long. http://www.albertafilmratings.ca/recentclasstrailers.aspx [editline]19th July 2014[/editline] An interstellar trailer is attached with next weeks hercules. However, it's labeled as "trailer 2". But they could be calling the first trailer just a teaser, and labeling this as the 2nd full trailer. If that's not the new trailer though then we can certainly expect it to be attached to Guardians of the Galaxy.
There's a presentation currently going on at Comic-con for this movie. They showed off the new trailer there as well. Here's the transcript from a guy at comingsoon.net that live blogged the whole thing:
Silas Lesnick: The INTERSTELLAR trailer has just started! 4:02 Silas Lesnick: This is an extended trailer, although there's no new footage. It's the first trailer with lots of additional real-world footage of famous astronauts and astrophysicists. 4:02 Silas Lesnick: Matthew McConaughey has made a surprise appearance! His first Comic-Con! 4:03 Comment From JT Alright! Alright! Alright! 4:03 Silas Lesnick: He actually just said that to much applause! 4:04 Silas Lesnick: He says that, when he left his first meeting with Christopher Nolan, he wasn't even sure what it was for. He got the script a week later and knew he was in. 4:04 Silas Lesnick: He plays Cooper. A pilot and engineer. He's a widowed father of two children. 4:04 Silas Lesnick: It's the future and humanity is simply sustaining itself. It's not in a place where it can pursue the stars. 4:04 Silas Lesnick: He's asked to take on this mission, but it means that he has to leave his kids. 4:05 Silas Lesnick: "That's all I'm saying for right now," he grins. 4:05 Silas Lesnick: He says it felt like an indie film. There were rarely more than two or three takes. 4:06 Silas Lesnick: "It's by far the most ambitious film that Mr. Nolan has ever directed. When you see it, you'll see why." 4:06 Silas Lesnick: They're about to bring out a surprise guest... 4:06 Silas Lesnick: Christopher Nolan! 4:08 Silas Lesnick: He says he's never come in the past because it just hasn't worked out with release dates, but he's very happy to be here. 4:08 Silas Lesnick: He had to "see what the fuss was all about". 4:09 Silas Lesnick: He says that he's always loved science fiction and that he grew up in a time where being an astronaut was man's highest ambition. 4:09 Silas Lesnick: He feels that has fallen off over the years. 4:09 Silas Lesnick: "I really like the idea -- and I hope it's true -- that we're on the edge of a brand new era." 4:09 Silas Lesnick: He says that the journey is ultimately to a whole other galaxy. 4:10 Spencer Perry-SHH: Any talking raccoons in that movie? 4:10 Silas Lesnick: Getting space travel absolutely right is really important and he promises that they've gone all out with various filmmaking techniques 4:11 Silas Lesnick: IMAX was, again, extremely important for him. 4:12 Silas Lesnick: "We're trying to show the biggest possible images," he says, "... to do that, you need the biggest canvas possible." 4:13 Silas Lesnick: They're nearly out of time, but are going to field a couple of audience questions. 4:14 Silas Lesnick: Asked about the research involved, Nolan says that Kip Thorne has been a part of the film and has been an incredible help. 4:14 Silas Lesnick: Asked about what sci-fi films inspired him, Nolan says he doesn't want to give a list because we'll know exactly who he ripped off. 4:15 Silas Lesnick: He does list STAR WARS, 2001 and BLADE RUNNER, but seems to say 2001 was the biggest influence on this one. 4:15 Silas Lesnick: His goal is to tell "a similarly ambitious story" 4:16 ComingSoon.net: Here's that Red Band trailer for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 - 4:17 Silas Lesnick: There's a new trailer coming "fairly soon" they're about to show! 4:20 Silas Lesnick: [sp]"We used to look up and wonder about our place in the stars," says Cooper, "Now we look down and worry about our place in the dirt." Silas Lesnick: LOTS of other space stuff in the trailer, including astronauts landing and walking across other (uninhabited) worlds. 4:22 Silas Lesnick: There's a lot with Cooper saying goodbye to his daughter and it's heavily hinted that Chastain is, indeed, the adult version of her. 4:22 Silas Lesnick: "We're coming back," Cooper tells her. 4:22 Silas Lesnick: The trailer ends with Michael Caine reciting Dylan Thomas. Silas Lesnick: "Do not go gentle into that good night" Silas Lesnick: "Do not go gentle into that good night" Silas Lesnick: "Rage, rage against the dying of the light" 4:23 Silas Lesnick: It's a pretty great trailer and shows off a glimpse at the 2001 influence 4:24 Silas Lesnick: I think we can expect a lot of real-world astronomy that we just haven't seen on the big screen before. 4:24 Comment From Rutiger Smoot How do the other worlds look? 4:24 Silas Lesnick: Rocky! There's also something bizarre on one of them that MIGHT be alien 4:25 Silas Lesnick: Sort of a big silvery TETRIS block that seems to fly at the camera[/sp]
"There were rarely more than two or three takes." this doesn't fill me with happy feelings. not after the Talia death scene in TDKR. EDIT: i mean.. Nolan's citing 2001 as his main inspiration, where Kubrick took hundreds of takes to make it perfect. Only taking a couple of takes is not good, I don't know why MM was showing that off.
