I'm not liking this one bit.
I was sceptical when they added the red dots on the guns, and made them fire faster in the early trailer.
And now my suspicions were correct, they are giving metro the call of duty treatment.
- Hit markers.
- Quick knife animations
- claymores, for some reason.
- artyom went from barely fighting one creature at a time, to fighting demons and huge swamp lobsters at the same time.
besides all that it still looks like a metro game, and the atmosphere looks right. I'm sceptical but im open.
Artyom is a Ranger now.
So it does kinda make sense.
In Metro 2033 there were plenty of times where you will get overwhelmed, sounds like being too nitpicky. The sights though do kind of make it easier/kind of harder to see at least from what the video shows.
I just hope they don't end up on your gas mask like the flies.
they do its in one of the first trailers
theres also giant spiders in the metro survival guide trailer
i really fucking hate spiders so i dont rly approve of this

I am never afraid as long as I have a gun.
That hud is just awful, glad i'm not playing this on a console and don't need it. Metro liked to implement your hud within the game itself, hiding it in plain sight.
I'm loving this though, i simply can't wait for more of this.
Also watching him play this after playing 2033 on ranger mode, it's literally painful to watch him waste ammo like that by frivolously aiming. Ahaha :v
I would love a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. reboot with this engine

Artyom's had a lot of combat experience now, with the whole last game, and one can imagine he's gotten a fair amount of experience from that.
The red dots however I agree with you on, seeing as they could at least have picked some russian ones.

Metro 2033 certainly did not try to hide the HUD within the game like you're suggesting (this is with all the HUD options on at the same time, obviously you wouldn't see all of this but the Metro 2033 HUD was really ugly). Metro 2033's HUD didn't blend in with the game and neither does this new HUD but the new HUD is a hell of a lot more polished.
jesus, call me dumb. until now, I always read it as "Last Night", I even heard it like that when someone said it
anyways, it looks really good, time to upgrade
The red dot sights don't fit imo.
Same with the hit markets, in Metro 2033 you could see bullets ricochet off armor, which was cool as fuck.
So this is after the first game? I heard it takes Ranger ending as canon, which is a shame, I prefer the other one.

I blame reviewers and MMS's :downs:
The graphics are allright.
Looks good. Only thing i don't really like is a few of the HUD icons (and how the ammo is no longer different looking bullets) and some of the animations like changing the filter seemed a bit too fast.

Or something like that.

But it gets the job done, really well, actually. Kinda nailed that post-appocalypse atmosphere, even enhanced from 2033.

this was so fucking satisfying to watch
just unloading on a big group of enemies, seeing a few run to cover, some drop dead and hearing their gear and shit hit the floor
Other than the hit markers and maybe the hud indicators for when you're picking things up I don't see anything wrong with this, and I'll guarantee you both of those can be disabled in the options like in 2033.
Guessing that the demo is on the lowest difficulty, which makes sense with all the hitmarkers etc.
Looks fun, looking forward to it's release, it's most likely even more fun on the highest difficulty.

The Ranger ending was the ending of the book so I guess that's why they went with it. The other was just a special ending for those who put in the extra effort to get the moral points.
I don't like the sounds, especially the gun ones. It sounds like stock sounds you find in old action films.
Looks awesome, one thing I hope for Last Light is more flashbacks like this

holy shit
Love how they are using mist and smoke

Actually I think they are using most of the same sounds from the first game. Which I think belong to some very widely used sound asset. I remember wood breaking has the same sound like HL2.
i don't like the easy mode watch

the hud was pretty minimal, the only thing that was constantly present was the ammo count on the bottom. Filters popped up only when you picked one up or looked at your watch or put your mask on. There wasn't something like a sprint meter or anything and if you were wearing your mask you had to actually pull up your watch or look at your watch while holding a gun to get an idea of how much time you had left. There were no battery indications for your flashlight or charge indicators for your volt driver, instead you needed to physically pull up your charger to look at it.

join the club. I loved 2033's watch. I even scoured the web looking for one similiar and after awhile stumbled upon the make it was based off of. I bought it and then scoured the web for a similiar wrist band. I'm very happy with the result and was buying a fake LED Light indicator but i scrapped it because i used the watch too much for just general things and the leds on it would have made it bulky.
I'd commit genocide for a Metro freeroam game.

I think Stalker fits quite well honestly.

I've played through 2033 about seven times now and I still have no fucking idea how to read that watch. It was completely terrible.
