If I asked for a donation, How many people would help?

I'll donate a bag of my own excrement.
Does that count?
Not offering, just doing research.
No thanks.
Maybe if i had money to donate i would consider it.
No one would help.
I will contribute the glorious testament of my financial might to your cause. I will provide a payment of -$1.00.
Bow to my will. :smug:
Hello,
This is a totally random thread, I just need people to answer a question.
Would you ever donate to a person needing a new PC?
Would you donate if you knew that with that new PC the owner would start working on making some high-class Indie Genre Games?
Would you donate if the Games being made supported a charity with every sale they made?

If they were a popular poster in the programming forum, and I'd seen proof that they CAN make games, and they were a friendly and contributing member of the community, then I think I'd actually consider it.
If it was some newbie in the programming forum that i'd never seen work from, who said he was going to start to program when he gets a new computer... obviously not.
I'd much rather see some progress on the game, and instead of donating, I'll preorder it if there is some incentive.
Wolfire and Unknown Worlds do this for their games Overgrowth and Natural Selection 2 respectively. You can preorder the game now, and get pre-release builds of the editor to play with until the game is ready.
But if the developer has nothing to show so far, I wouldn't donate.
I will donate if you are willing to wear a french maid costume, and post your pictures on FP.
How much?
I'd give you 100 bucks.
There's a difference between needing donations to accomplish something good and just begging for money.
Especially on the internet.
For those who have contributed much, then yes
I was thinking along the lines of donating to Haiti Relief or to another helpful charity. Not for your greedy ass to get a new computer.
To make me donate you should either be developing something awesome, or just an awesome person I have heard of before. I'm short on money, so I wont ever spend it on some random faggot on the Internet.
Seems easier just to donate to charity instead of you.
I'd give you my small change.... so like $3?
Or if I was going to benefit from it I'd donate more.
sounds like the OP's parents won't buy him a PC, so he's promising he'll make awesome games and save puppies if someone buys him one, I could be wrong though.
I may. It depends if you're either a friend of mine or can bullshit a very, very, very sad story. Or you are actually working on a major project. Maybe a mod/game or foundation. I won't donate to you thought just if you were to ask me to. If you want to work on a game though you need time. Alot of spare time. The way you make it sound is that you're too busy working to earn money to actually have money? That doesn't make sense. If you're too busy working though at a job to do a game then it's going to be crap or never get done. You have to have the time to put into the project. Especially if you were freelance. Money can only get you so far.
How much?
It's a variable depending on how much the costume overall costs
I'd have some sympathy if it didn't sound like you illegally downloaded a 3d game engine, and want to build a 3d Indy game from scratch by yourself.
Now if you had made a heap of fun 2d games and are getting ready to move on up, i'd consider it.
No one will donate unless you do something awesome.
Get your own money ya bum.
I wouldnt, no.

Indie games are mainly boring and poorly made, it's just an excuse to make things effortless, and like... 50% of all the charity organizations out there takes more as profit than actual giving, it's like, "You homeless kids will get some choclate rabbits, and I'll get a Porche, kthxbai".
Actually I would probably support an animal than another human with donations, to be honest. Because animals cant fight back against Humans and most are defenceless. Humans on the other hand, Have there gift of Logical thinking, at some point in time, we were all "As poor as Africans". But we got on with it?
Didn't evolution trace back all the way to us originating from Africa? and doesn't that mean they should be one of the most advanced civilisations of today?
PLEASE READ THE OTHER COMMENTS BEFORE POSTING STUPID ONES, I HATE REPEATING MYSELF!!
I was thinking that I may have donated. Then you just said some of the most retarded shit I ever had the displeasure of reading.
...high-class Indie Genre Games...
I wouldn't donate even if you were making High-class indie games, but something tell me you aren't - I mean, If you were making High class shizz and were an average guy, you would be employed and your company would of brought one for you.
If it's for an indie developer, I'd say that if he's so sure his game would be worth the donation, he might as well invest money into a PC to develop that game of his. However if the said developer already had some results to show and then he'd be limited because of his current PC, I'm sure that if he made a small donation page, people would donate money and eventually he'd have enough.
I'd definitely donate in that case.
Minecraft is an example of someone who actually develops a game independently because it's just that kind of project(And he doesn't use this whole "Indie" thing just as an excuse to make a mediocre game), and many people buy it because they already have results before them, and they are interested in keeping this project going. Not to mention that in exchange they get to see the latest developments in the game.
No, I'm in the same situation, and cannot get a job. But I'm not asking for donations, nor should they.

Have you played world of goo, Lugaru, or Penumbra?
Plus wasn't garry's mod an indie game?
Also alien hominid.
Castle crashers.
What is wrong with you man.
Nope.
Maybe if it was like Minecraft, getting the game as it is now, and more later, then maybe.
