Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better

A buddy of mine had a Westfield Les Paul.
Give it some time and it'll just start breaking apart in your hands :v:
I don't want something like that for the same reason I don't want a multi-fx unit. I love having tones of pedals and knobbies to adjust to my liking and have there right infront of me and pedalboards are awesome.

Oh yeah.. got this Westfield Goldtop Les Paul today off of a friend dirt cheap.

Looks damn nice.. plays nice, sounds alright too.. just a shame it has Westfield slapped on the headstock.
It also has a Strat-scale bolt on neck so it's not all squished in like regular Les Pauls.. which was one of the selling points for me.
Less sustain...
That's just a myth
so, the Jackson Kelly
they look awesome and i want to pretend to be marty, because i have a sad life. has anyone had any experience with them and can recommend specific models? or are they shit guitars?
budget is around $750 i guess, so that limits me to something pretty basic :(
The KE3 is a solid guitar, I wouldn't bother with anything below that. Maybe look online for any used Japanese models

Les Pauls have a "squished" scale? Mind explaining? I've got big hands and kinda want an LP one day and that sounds scary.
3/4" shorter than a Strat, it's barely any difference, the most noticeable aspect at least to me is string tension

As in it has a shorter scale than a stratocaster and the frets are a little closer, I can't tell that much.
Or whatever trout said above.

I've got big, fat hands. I hate playing Les Pauls because it's nearly impossible to play on the higher notes.

It might be more cost effective to get one of the new James Hetfield LTD's or an LTD EX. It's the same general body shape (aside from the sexy bevels) and they are much cheaper than Japanese Jacksons.
My cousin is offering to sell me an LTD AL-200 For $600 AU (probably would equate to $300 in the US, because our economy sucks balls and guitars are way more expensive here than the US). Should I get it?

Now that our economy is better than the US, you'd be better off importing it for even less. Although you can probably find a much better guitar for about the same. The AL-200 sounds trebley as all shit and is awkward to play. Get a guitar with a neck pickup atleast.
New pedal daaayyyy
Fucking.. LOVE this little guy

The mods that were done on it make it my new #1 dirt/drive pedal.
I also got the Korg Pitchblack Tuner.. I would have got a picture but it's just a simple all-black tuner pedal.
El Capistan arrives tomorrow!! :D then my Fuzz Face gets here on Friday.

What the fuck is that?
a miracle of modern science
[editline]17th May 2011[/editline]
actually I might build an instrument like that some day, it looks pretty cool
Korg Pitchblack Tuner and a modded Boss SD-1 arriving tomorrow.
The SD-1 mod converts it to be more tubesceamer-ish and has a switch for asymmetrical or symmetrical clipping diodes.
Fuzz Face arriving later this week and whenever GuitarGuitar get their new stock in I'll be buying the El Capistan.
Pedalmania, I know :p
Hahah
Pitchblack
Nice pun
Just checking out the new line of Ibanez artcores and my eyes fell on this piece of sex.

Seriously tempted to try and sell my as73 and save up towards it. Only thing is I haven't seen any reviews of it and the only videos on youtube is this:

which doesn't fully convince me. I always like to play guitars before I buy them, but I don't think any of the local music shops stock it. Oh decisions.
Most music shops will order in something if you ask.. but then again you may need to commit to it.
I'm not really a fan of gold hardware on guitars, but I like it on either red or sunburst ones.

why in the world does it have STEREO printed on the truss rod cover

It looks like a wooden shield with strings.
why in the world does it have STEREO printed on the truss rod cover
It's Gibson. A stereo output jack is probably worth an entirely different model designation and extra $1k.
Alternatively, so you can tell them apart in a showroom.
why in the world does it have STEREO printed on the truss rod cover
Two outputs, Rick' style, one for each pickup
why in the world does it have STEREO printed on the truss rod cover
Because it has a stereo output.
So, I just learned Fearless by Pink Floyd, thus tuning my guitar to GGDGBB. :v:
I'm wondering if there are any other songs that are played in this tuning
absolutely none
Finally found a decent use for my seven. I tuned to to D standard with a high g. :iia:

FUUUUUUUUCK I JUST FORKED OUT $1000 FOR A SCHECTER BLACKJACK C7 ATX WHEN I COULD HAVE SAVED $350 IF I SAW THIS BRAWWARARsdfsfgerat. I'll see when I get my next paycheck actually, will contact you if I can muster up the cash - just know that I'm interested.
edit: Actually I'm going to tell all my guitar playing mates about it, I know one guy who loves Ibanez, and he might be interested, because $650 is an amazing deal on this model
edit2: there we go, good luck selling it. hopefully a friend of mine will pick it up so that i can "borrow" it from him!
