Maybe he wants to write a chord progression that hasn't been used that much, making it virtually unique? I play .013, but I'm originally a bassist.
I can bend on 1.30's, awesome bassist fingers.
My guitar teacher has lots and lots of Gibson guitars, but the only one he's sold is the SG!
I know what you think about the line 6 spiders, but the Lowdown bass amps sound pretty cool.
Output jack, actually. The input is in the amp (or device in between). You could get a replacement for dirt cheap; it's a very common electronic part, probably available at RadioShack, BestBuy, et cetera. I actually went about 2 years without hardly playing at all (various reasons, some of them personal) and I've just started to get back into playing these past several weeks. I'm probably nowhere near as good as most of the other dudes in this thread, but I'll be back up to speed soon enough. It's not a race for me.
Derp. I meant output. I was tired. and I know it's a cheap part, But It's effort, and I know i'd manage to mess it up and FUBAR it. :v: [editline]27th March 2011[/editline]
I have an Epiphone SG-310. It was my starter guitar, lasted me a good solid 2.5-ish years. Now I exclusively play my Paul Allender PRS SE, but I want to mod the SG with either EMG's or some high-output DiMarzios, slap on some .012's, and leave it in C#-standard (and only tune down from there) so I have a good guitar for downtuned material.
Would you recommend the 310 to me? I play guitar as aa hobby, not as a passion or career. I know it's definitely a step up from what I've got.
anyone here have a Pod GX? Or use Pod farm in general? I have the metal fx pack but I just can't seem to find amps and settings that sound good, it all sounds too gainy and treble filled, i want something a bit like the tone posted above.....
Idea I had an hour ago. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5847609/MS%20Intro.mp3 Been playing for less than a year.
Like this tone, any help?

I know that I wanted something much nicer and more versatile after a couple years, and the price was just right on the Paul Allender SE sitting next to me. If you've only got about $300 or so to spend on a new guitar, then yeah I loved the SG-310. It'll need a setup but after that it plays great. My Paul Allender PRS, however, I have done nothing to - only restrung it with DR .009's as opposed to the factory-shipped strings. Plays absolutely perfect. If you can afford a bit more, I'd say look into the PRS SE line of guitars. I don't think I'll ever be buying any other brand having played and owned one now.
Ibanez master race :smug:

I have two electrics, both of them PRS's and my SE Custom is one of the best guitars I've ever played. In fact I think the only electric guitar I've played that I liked more is my PRS Custom. SE series guitars are absolutely the best around for the $900-1500 price range.
Fucking pre-worn douche guitar
Yeah, I'd much rather have a not pre-worn one. Doesn't matter. I'll not afford it ever. At $8k, No thanks.

Since we are on the topic of our dream guitars. That would probably be the guitar that I would buy.

What in the actual fuck
That strat is damn sexy looking, first strat that I ever find looking really good.

I want and I think I may just save up for a Blues Junior III, I've never heard an amp capture the tone I've been after so flawlessly. Somewhat harsh middy sounds are what I like, combined with a nice OD pedal and/or something that emulates a leslie speaker or even just a uni-vibe sounds awesome. Can anyone tell that I'm an SRV fan yet? :p
steve harris signature for the win
As much as I love Steve Harris' sound, It's too expensive for me, I can't afford to change strings every day.
Would you recommend the 310 to me? I play guitar as aa hobby, not as a passion or career. I know it's definitely a step up from what I've got.
I, personally, would save up the extra cash and get the G-400, or a quality knockoff brand. It's a lot closer to an actual SG, but I'm a purist so our priorities may be different.
If I sell my little Vox VT20+ I could get about £100 and put that towards the Blues Junior III bringing the cost down to £350, Unless of course I can find a nice deal online. I like my little VT20+ but it's too digital and practice-ampy for my liking, I want something that's all Valve (at least, the important parts) and gig worthy.

I want an old Vibrolux or a Tonemaster.
As much as I love Steve Harris' sound, It's too expensive for me, I can't afford to change strings every day.
most of the sound would come from the wood and pickups. so if you want the tone, get alder for the body and seymour duncan SPB-1 pickups (I have SPB-3s and they still produce a great tone, my first bass has a composite body so it isn't really solid wood, but the duncans really give it a good punk tone)
