got a new bass, squier affinity jazz i am poor :( actually not a bad bass though :)
Squier Jazz Basses are nice.
most of the sound would come from the wood and pickups. so if you want the tone, get alder for the body and seymour duncan SPB-1 pickups (I have SPB-3s and they still produce a great tone, my first bass has a composite body so it isn't really solid wood, but the duncans really give it a good punk tone)
No, most of his sound comes from his strings, which are flatwounds, but if you break them in then they lose their brightness.

Does anyone have that picture or website where it teaches you how to fix the bridge so the octave fret is actually an octave and not too # or to flat?
Ugh. Ultex sharps and IIIs are getting shredded, same for tortex, same for clayton acetals. Now I switch to nylon IIIs brielfy just to see if there's anything I don't destroy before buying one of these or one of these. That and continue debating between swapping my neck 707 for a 60-7 or blackout. Friends give me pedals, strings doth overfloweth, and picks are everywhere, but nobody can loan a pup...
Does anyone have that picture or website where it teaches you how to fix the bridge so the octave fret is actually an octave and not too # or to flat?
You mean Intonation? It's quite simple. Get an electric tuner and plug the guitar in and then fret the 12th fret and tune the respective string to it's tuning.. then hit the harmonic at the 12th fret and if it's sharp then turn the screw in the saddle. If the tuner says the harmonic is sharp then you want the saddle to move TOWARDS the headstock, if the tuner says the harmonic is flat then you want the saddle to move AWAY from the headstock. Do this for every string. It usually is a case of trial and error, just spend about 10 minutes getting it bang on. Every single time you turn one of the screws on the saddle you need to retune the fretted 12th fret (or you can tune the open string but all the techs i know tune the 12th fret) and then hit the harmonic and adjust the screws until it's in tune. What I've always done is tune by the 12th fret harmonic, then check the fretted 12th.
anyone here have a Pod GX? Or use Pod farm in general? I have the metal fx pack but I just can't seem to find amps and settings that sound good, it all sounds too gainy and treble filled, i want something a bit like the tone posted above..... Like this tone, any help?
Yeah, I have POD Farm. Personally, I believe that you don't really need the expansion packs to get a good tone. Just need the right distortion and EQ'ing. If you want, I can send you the patch for you to study. However, unless you have the same guitar and pickups as me, then you aren't going to get exactly the same sound. Also, since you have the Metal Expansion pack, I recommend you czech out the Big Bottom Amp.
Think I might pick up a Tele when I'm in London, provided I have the money. Got a bad case of GAS for a good singlecoil guitar
Uhh, my custom guitar is done (except we broke an A string :saddowns:), but I have to go scoop some dog poop. After, I will take pictures with all 6 of my axes.
If I were to take 2 of those guitars, I'd have a hard time choosing between: 1) Les Paul. 2) Explorer. 3) Your Custom.
You probably wouldn't want the LP because it is just an Epiphone, but is decent. The Explorer is quite nice, and so is my custom.
