compressors are good when they're subtle, up full whack and it literally does sound whack.
Can't wait to get mine but it'll take a few weeks :\
I mainly use my compressor to get more sustain, nothing else.
I use it sparingly to tighten up my sound in general, makes everything more "glassy", at least the one I use does. And I'm specifically tone-hunting for a nice glassy blues tone.

For some reason I love that thing :v: (I'm not that interested in White Stripes before they're mentioned)
the knobs, the shape, THE HORROR :byodood:

Niiiiiiiice
I love the looks of that
I think Jack White uses one like that too, and he is p. damn awesome
Firebird X
Dusk Tiger
Nighthawk Custom
Holy Explorer
Several Melody Makers
But other than the paddle on the X those are mostly just really fucking ugly variations on one guitar, not a part mismatch. The nighthawk looked more or less how it does now before the custom, melody makers have always been questionable, and the holy explorer is just an explorer that got in a fight with a CNC mill and lost horribly.
To be fair, Fender's by design lend themselves to being mismatched considering their bolt on design and scratchplate/swimming pool routes. It's a lot easier to make a Stratele or Telemaster than it is to make a Lesplorer or a Fire V, so I guess because of that Gibson are less inclined to produce them
Oh snap.. I may be getting a Fender Baja Telecaster next week on the (very) cheap!
Can't wait to find out :D.
the funny thing about this is that you pay more for a body with holes cut out of it.

A girl showed me a video of Jonas Brothers once, he was playing the Holy Explorer IIRC
That tone is amazing, sounds like something from Catch 33. What kind of software do you use (for the drums and mixing) and what do you use for the recording? I'd really want to get a descent mic so I could record something properly.
Oh! You should listen to this, it's way better you probably missed that :v:

I do all that on the line in into my soundcard (onboard soundcards won't work for such stuff) mxr 10 band EQ, using the audacity programm (which is free, comfortable&fast to use) then using an really great unknown vst maximizer (which even gives better&easier results than izotopes Ozone!) but mainly it's me fine tweaking the EQ on each track!
The drums are from samples collected over 2 years and always tweaked using the drumsite demo! I replaced everything so don't think that programm will give you nice results on start :v:
On a side note : I dislike EZDrummer, I had it and it was way harder to use and to actually do quality stuff in short time than the programm I am using in combination with gp5.

If someones interested here's an Deftones - Mascara full instrumental made by me months ago but re-mastered it today

To be honest, the Nighthawk custom looks like a LP had sex with an Ibanez <Insert pointy guitar name here> and added the slanted bridge pup of a strat.
Also the twelve string melody maker:

I personally found the Baja Tele to be a bit... lacking.
I don't know what it is, but a Squier standard Tele was even more satisfying than the Baja Tele.
I don't know what's worse, the shitty "prank" or the assumption a pinprick hurts anywhere asides the tender bits.
But they're so fugly.
I'll give you the mustang maybe but the pickguards on those other two are downright gross. Also tele necks just look weird on non-teles. I'd rather just have the tele with those electronics.
On a different note:

Just a mockup but it looks pretty ace to me. Too bad the guy making these seems to be dead in the water.
Not the best looking Decibel I've seen.

I want to set it on fire and piss out the ashes.
Then set it on fire again.

I'm the complete opposite, my friend has a Baja Tele and it's unbelievable compared to my other mates Squier, which is a great guitar it's self.
The Baja Tele's are made with a more vintage standard and the 4 (technically 5) way switching pickup system is awesome.
Also remember that generally Mexican Fenders are hit and miss, you could end up with a good one or one that's just a bit off which can make or break how you think about them. I played the worst fender mexi strat I've ever played the other day and played my own mexi strat (granted mine is 7 years older) and it was a dream.
Personal preference really.
True, but if all the Baja Teles in that shop sucked and the Baja Teles in some other shops as well, it can't be coincidence.
Ah well. I can't say you're wrong or right, if they're not for you then fair dues.
I have 3 strats just now and I'd like a Tele since I'm not a fan of many other guitars these days. The Tele is different enough from Strats to warrant "expanding" my sound.
Plus Telecasters are actually that good because of how technologically blunt they are. The bridge is a shambles and will never be perfectly set up and they're actuall built for transmitting over radio, back in the 40s and 50s. They're actually so bad they're good and distinct. Fenders Tele's just seem to have that typical Telecaster sound where as all the Squier Tele's I've played sound like good guitars in their own right but they do not sound like Telecasters.
I'm not exactly looking for an expertly built guitar I'm looking for a distinct sound from the guitar.

I played a 60s tele that my guitar teacher had, Literally the most full tone and warm tone ever, but then it could also play metal which was weird. Beautiful guitars, don't know about modern ones, never played one, but damn, i'd give anything to have that guitar back again :(
A test..
Which of these 2 tracks do you think is the fender strat and which isnt?
http://soundcloud.com/gregdotporter/sets/wing-a
Same tuning (E Flat), same amp.. nothing was changed besides what guitar was plugged in. Neck-mid pickup selected on both.
Excuse the sub-par playing, I recorded them quickly to annoy a friend.. he doesn't believe that my little 10 year old no-brand chinese strat can sound as good as a real fender strat (not that it PLAYS better, but can sound as good)
Just a quick idea that popped up into my head. Recorded it so that I could continue working on it later. It's played abit sloppy, but I'll work this out a bit more.

Thoughts?
that looks very similar to a lot of esp's out there, but with a horrible headstock, and looks like it would be using comparable guts too,
Javelin is by far the finest one;

i'm just trying to help you for if you were interested of buying one of those guitars, you don't have to be a whiny bitch about it.
Can someone tell me if this is a scale?
|------------------------------------------10-12-13
|---------------------------------10-12-13---------
|-------------------------9-10-13------------------
|-----------------9-10-12--------------------------
|-----------11-12----------------------------------
|--10-12-13----------------------------------------
I came up with by finding the notes used in the start of one solo, and then just extended it to go all the way down to the low E string. I'm just wondering if that's a real scale, because it would be useful to know the name of it :v:

I'd say the first one is the Fender
