Welcome to sludge metal [editline]5th April 2011[/editline] I cheat tho, I use a 7 string heh
There is no such thing as cheating :colbert:
Fuck it, I'll try this tuning
Blasphemy!!
I think I just found the brown note
I was thinking about buying a new acoustic to replace my aging no frills fender I grew up learning on. I'm thinking of this: http://www.thomann.de/ie/takamine_eg523sc12_jumbowesterngitarre.htm I really just want a twelve string so I can just expand my song library and playing ability. Good idea?
If anything a 12 string will limit you, it's very difficult to play anything (but chords, but I play bass normally so I can't play any chords) on a 12 string. Source - I played one once.
12 string guitars are pretty rad and you can play everything on it that you can play on a regular acoustic guitar.
Holy crap, playing Honey Bucket feels like a god damn exercise!
I did a cover of honey bucket was pretty hard to down chug it all
Awesome, I can finally play some two-handed tapping stuff. Feels good being able to do this for the first time.

it's an Fender amp which I'm borrowing from my brother, my amp is at our studio. getting a 6505+ combo soon.
it's an Fender amp which I'm borrowing from my brother, my amp is at our studio. getting a 6505+ combo soon.
If you want a 6505+, you should check out Bugera 6262, or other models. They cost much less, and many people say (I own one, and I love it) they sound just as good, or better in cleans. Mind you, it is being played through a Marshall cab with Celestions. It is still a great amp. Don't pay attention to those that claim Bugera is bad quality. The older models had problems with the transformer I believe, but Bugera has pretty good service. The new models are perfectly fine, had mine since early December, and only thing that happened was a fuse blew from a bad tube, been fine since. Speakers are pretty good, but I'd like to get Celestions some day. http://www.bugera-amps.com/en/Support/LimitedWarranty.aspx
That would require me to buy a cab too........ :(
Does Melvins have any other songs than Boris tuned down to A now that I'm already tuned to it? I feel like a guitar player desperately wanting to be a bassist right now :v:
I'm having someone hand build me a Fuzz pedal (one similar to The Black Keys/Dan Auerbach tone in the Thickfreakness album) and an Octaver pedal. Woop.
dont blame you minecraft is a much better game. just wondering do you get paid per video? or by how many views they get?
I get paid per 1000 views on every video I upload and it's monthly.
That would require me to buy a cab too........ :(
No, they make a combo version 2x12 that is only like 600-700
Need a challenge? I'm your man. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1740292/Jam%20L%C3%B6g/Mr.%20Stern.jpeg learn this, it's so fun to play and the amount of satisfaction you get from learning it is out of this world
No, they make a combo version 2x12 that is only like 600-700
Really? The 6505+ combo is like $600.
I'm interested to see how DiMarzio's would do.
Probably just fine, considering I've seen all the complaints I've made about the 85s/707s repeated in some less-technical form or made about something related to those points elsewhere, whereas most complaints I've seen about Dimarzios are about them having a larger impact on the tone of an instrument than someone would have liked (e.g. the Evo sounding too much like every other Evo regardless of what it was installed in) and other really trifling shit. Truthfully I'm not even that pissed with these, I just think they're a special-situation-only pup. And it's not like I can (or tried to) say all EMGs are this way- the 81 I touched on but really don't have any experience with to say it's definitively raunchy except maybe as a neck pup on warmer wooded instruments (though I guess I still do think it is), and I've no clue about the weirder stuff like their passives or singlecoils.
I think my next guitar, when I get around to it will be a nice big Gretsch Archtop, probably just the standard G5120 Electromatics, a sunburst one to match the classic archtop look though the orange one is nice and Chet Atkins-ey. They're about £600 though so I'll be saving up.
Why do you have so many guitars? D: I just don't get it. I used the same bass for a year and just upgraded because I wanted a five string and it was on sale for cheap.
I'm not really interested in many guitars. I like the design of strats, so I stuck with them. I also agree, I don't need more than one or two guitars. If I break a string on stage, I'd like to have a backup guitar so I don't need to re-sting.

I've never liked the sunburst option much on the electros, the orange looks sexy as hell.
To whoever asked why I have/want so many guitars.. I don't know.. it's like asking why I have so many pairs of shoes or something. They all do the same thing but it's nice to have variation and some of them do it slightly differently. My Fender gives me that basic fender strat sound, my G&L strat is much fatter and lively than a regular strat.. my tele gives me the telecaster tone, my wolfgang copy is my humbuckers guitar and a Gretsch gives me a nice picky acoustic 30-50s tone. I don't like many other guitars. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
Solid choice. Make sure it comes with a bigsby though, personally, I can't live without 'em. And yeah, the G5120s come with a Bigsby.
Really? The 6505+ combo is like $600.
Yeah, for the 1x12, the 2x12 is like $1K new. Just for the 6505, I'd imagine the + is more http://guitars.musiciansfriend.com/product/Peavey-6505-212-Combo-2x12-Guitar-Amp?sku=481433
Just got my Marshall Regenerator pedal in the mail and gave it a quick shot (it's too early to be properly playing guitar) from what I can tell it's a pretty good pedal, doesn't colour the guitars signal and the modulation effects are warm and realistic.. i do get a tiny bit of hiss through it, but not much more than my amps normal noise while resting. I was surprised to see it had an expression pedal input on it to control the rate of the modulations though, I did not know that.. now I need to hunt down a compatible Exp. Pedal because I bought this pedal mostly to use the Uni-Vibe.. and if I can control that with an Exp. Pedal then that's even better. So yeah. It's going on my pedal board until I find something better to replace it which I'm not in a hurry to do.
