the only reason I'd have multiple guitars is for different tunings [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] I don't feel any other need for many guitars
Well they all sound different, thats my reason. My Sunburst Strat is clean and twangy Les Paul is crunchy and meaty Orange Strat is in the middle of both but not exactly both
the only reason I'd have multiple guitars is for different tunings [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] I don't feel any other need for many guitars
This. I want one for low, one for D-E, and one with a Floyd just to fuck with it. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline]
I have a decent enough income to afford both if I want but currently theres no point in me investing in a good tube amp when I'm playing at home where it's already "too loud" using my modelling amp with wattage control and everything. I'm getting all these effects because I use them and it broadens my available sounds.
You could get a low-wattage tube amp. Like a Fender Blues Junior. Lots of people love the Blues Junior and it's a pretty low-wattage tube amp that is supposed to have absolutely beautiful cleans. Of course I would never want one, but that's because it doesn't even remotely fit my typical playing style.

In other news I'm learning Chet Atkins-ey fingerpicking techniques and it's an absolutely cunt, I dont really ever fingerpick so it's all new to me.
I plan on tuning this guitar to drop B when I buy my amp in June/July What thickness would be ideal? I'm using .48 on my E-string right now in drop D
Well i use .54-.58 on my ibby 7 string for the low B.. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] varies from time to time
Well i use .54-.58 on my ibby 7 string for the low B.. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] varies from time to time
don't basses use that gauge?
don't basses use that gauge?
I honestly wouldn't know. [editline]6th April 2011[/editline] I do know that i use them :buddy:
don't basses use that gauge?
Yeah. I was actually using bass singles on my 7 for a while, .54-.60s. But you can get guitar singles in some damn deep gauges.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250795555230&_rdc=1 Selling a Les Paul.
Only needs some minor adjustments here and there.
But it's a decent guitar for its price.

That's just optical, wipe the surface and it's gone.
I plan on tuning this guitar to drop B when I buy my amp in June/July What thickness would be ideal? I'm using .48 on my E-string right now in drop D
For drop-B? I'd say a set of .012's, something ending in at least a .56 if possible. Perhaps even some DR "DDT" (Drop-Down Tuning) strings. They have some outright monstrous strings in the DDT range. Just be careful about a wound 3rd string - personally I hate them. Makes bending harder, and I don't like the way it rings out for regular playing. For slide guitar it's pretty bitchin' though.

I think it'd be cool to get a 7 string guitar, and put 2 low E strings on it :v:
I think I might have found a drummer to play together with. He's been playing for 3-4 years, while I've only been playing for 5 months. It should work though, as long as I don't go ahead of myself and decide to play harder things than what is necessary.

http://www.thomann.de/se/daddario_exl148.htm it is then
Arghh I hate getting outbid on ebay. I was bidding on a Way Huge Swollen Pickle fuzz pedal, I put a max bid of 60 but my current bid was like 46 so I was confident and then at the last 15 seconds some twat bid 80 on it.. which is only £20 off of the buy it new price :|
reminds me of when I sat up all night to buy Oblivion on Ebay to make sure noone else got it (it wasn't obtainable in sweden, not sure about steam though)
don't basses use that gauge?
Super Slinkies start at .45 I think
