i need some help mixing guys i recorded this clip just to test some mixing stuff on it. i have added some compression and EQ and i also double tracked it but it sounds so flat and lifeless how do i add depth to it?
I'm gonna guess that you double tracked it by simply having two tracks of one identical recording. You need to record with a metronome, and record the guitar part twice, playing perfectly in time so that it doesnt sound like two guitars when you play it at the same time. It's the little tiny differences between your playing of the track that thickens up the sound. Bass guitar and drums really adds life to recordings as well. Even after I record a thick and meaty guitar part, it really doesn't start to sound awesome until you have other instruments in there.
Ah, I found you my pretty http://www.tunnelvisionmusic.com/Dunlop-JH-OC1-Jimi-Hendrix-Octavio-Pedal_p_332.html
I'm GASing for one of these so bad right now. Preferably in gold top, but cherry sunburst works too. Although, even if I could afford a Les Paul Deluxe, I don't think I'd have the heart to chop it up and throw in a full-sized humbucker in the middle...
Oh wow I didnt even notice the little grub screw on my G&L Strat that tightens to secure my vibrato bar in was missing.. I called up the tech and he says he never noticed it had went missing (they're pretty prone to falling out so it's not really his fault) so he's going to put one back in and give me a few spare just incase. If I didn't have that little screw it would make the vibrato virtually useless and on this G&L Strat it's fucking beautiful so not being able to use it just now is a downer.
First half of my pedal board is built, need to velcro it and add a little rim around the side and then attach a powersupply.. and get more pedals :p

I've never really held it, let alone learn how to play, but I'm interested now in doing so...Any advice?
First of all, see if you can get guitar lessons. Having a private teacher is very very helpful both for advice and for motivation!
just me nit picking but you player the intro to number of the beast wrong :p the strat sounds awesome, though you need to crank your amp more
I am a suckey guitar player, how do I play it right? And my amp was too far away from my mic, but I was too lazy to hook the amp up to my pc...
I think I'm gonna do a tone bypass mod on my Big Muff just to diversify it a wee bit, I want to use it for more than just tearing my signal a new one.
http://wimp.com/ewandobson/ Holy shit
you can do a lot with a digital delay
I was thinking, If I wanted to waste extra money over the summer, I could sell all 3 of my guitar amps, get a Vypyr 30 and a Marshall Half stack.

Here's a little jam I made after work for my friend who was feeling a bit down. Sorry for the absolutely shit laptop speaker quality, and my whacky facial expressions.. I had just got off work and immediately hit the bottle, so I was feeling a little crazy. Don't normally play acoustic, so I thought I would brush the dust off, and give her some lovin
Anyone here a fan of Danelectros? I've always loved a sort of odd tone (my gretsch fits the bill), and I've been meaning to add a Danelectron to my collection. Also, anyone ever built a cigar box guitar? I've been trying for some slide action, even got a set of cheap pick ups I ripped out of my defunct squier I got when I was 10 (its memory shall live on)
Danelectro have some nice pedals on the cheap, their Cool Cat series are great. The Cool Cat Vibe is a nice pedal as is the Transparent Overdrive.

I've played a few delay pedals and theirs was honestly spot on, but it's the only one I've ever found in-store dano wise. Damn thing broke on me, but since I got it for thirty dollars I can't complain.
Why, oh why, did I pick up the bass? It's so easy it makes me never want to play guitar again :v:
The only issue I have with Danelectro is their ugly pedal enclosures.
The only issue I have with Danelectro is their ugly pedal enclosures.
Oh my god yea. I appreciate that they're going for that vintage look, but it's really just a bit bulky and strange. I imagine if one wanted a symmetrical pedal board they'd stay away. Their guitars, on the other hand, are a work of beauty (besides the 59 DC)
Why, oh why, did I pick up the bass? It's so easy it makes me never want to play guitar again :v:
bass can be harder than guitar, there just aren't as many good bass players because for some reason people think less strings = less skill required = less pussy. oddly enough the good (or at least most ostentatious) bass players get the most sex but that's not the point. unfortunately that idea means there are less fun and/or hard bass parts
