Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better
YES! Danos are awesome!
I have an issue where I want so many things at once and don't have the income to support the habit (hence why I have so many instruments and no pedals :V), but I've managed to sudbue myself to buying a guitar a year. This year, I'm divided between a Dano Pro and a Dead on 67.
bass can be harder than guitar, there just aren't as many good bass players because for some reason people think less strings = less skill required = less pussy. oddly enough the good (or at least most ostentatious) bass players get the most sex but that's not the point. unfortunately that idea means there are less fun and/or hard bass parts
Women love a good bass player for his fingers. :smug:

Anybody have experience with (or just know anything about) these? I need something to do in between lectures and my picking speed is still really lacking.

Little clean bit that I though of yesterday.
Why, oh why, did I pick up the bass? It's so easy it makes me never want to play guitar again :v:
If your juddging bass' difficulty by how difficult the songs you like are then you're being stupid, Bass is easier to get into than guitar, but there is a massive gap between a almost easy song and an almost difficult song. There are techniques on bass that are more difficult than guitar techniques.

This is correct.
Although they are both guitars they both fill very different roles and both roles can be difficult but it all depends on the person and their playing style.
For example: Veil of Maya is very different from a Blues band, Veil of Maya has 7 string bass sweeps and stuff but some Blues has a very tight rhythm which can be as difficult as crazy sweeps.
My Crybaby has arrived! It took me about an hour to get used to playing with one, but now I've got it sounding pretty decent with a few bits I've made up. It was £27 too which isn't exactly bad when they go for around £60 new.
my active EMG's are dying on me
i need 9 volts batteries!!!

Like slapping and popping, for instance.
I'm looking to build a guitar, or customise a guitar I'm going to buy. My plan would be, if I was building it was to buy a guitar body that I can change the shape of, to my personal tastes, which has all the holes pre drilled and routed.
Any advice on what I should do? It is in early plan stages right now, so I have no budjet, but I'd like it to be below £500, if not cheaper.
i don't think that's going to be an easy task to find a body plank with predrilled holes
but if you do find one, let me know
warmouth do a pre routed body blank
I saw the Roger Waters concert last night and guess what.
I'm going again this evening!
recommend me 3 single coil pickups with pretty heavy sound, not too cheap and not too expensive
What would happen if I put mustang pickups in a strat, hmm...
[editline]a[/editline]
I need to drill out the holes for a new set of tuners on my neck, from vintage 8mm to standard 10mm.
Should I get a shop to do it, or can I do it by myself with no problems

What are you on? Bass is like 10x more difficult than guitar. Well, I guess it depends on what you play with it, sure isn't very hard if you play green day or some shit, but try playing something by Rush etc. and you'll just get back to your guitar weeping like a little girl.

you can do it yourself pretty easily but if you've never done it before you might want to take it to a shop

believe it or not, some of Green Day's bass parts are pretty well written. Granted, I don't particularly enjoy them, but songs like Longview are actually pretty fun to play.

I read that in Skwisgar's voice.
Was awesome.
I need to pick up a giant pack of 9-volts. There's some off-brand 8-pack in my store for like $9 or so. Even if they don't last that long it's half price.
Should I save up my money for an ISP Decimator G String, or can I just go for a Boss NS-2 for like half the price? I have a show in 9 days, and I'd like to not be noisy as FUCK the whole time.
I hear Boss NS 2 is pretty good

Can't you just wire in an on / off switch so you can conserve battery power?
Can't you just wire in an on / off switch so you can conserve battery power?
I have been asking myself this question for SO LONG. Why isn't it a standard thing :colbert:
Can't you just wire in an on / off switch so you can conserve battery power?
My guitar uses a stereo output jack for that purpose- the second channel is just used to complete a circuit that turns everything on when you've plugged a cable in.
I assumed that was standard procedure for active pickup equipped guitars.
Where do you guys get music from or do you just play it by ear? I'm not that good with the guitar to play it by ear yet.
I'm new to guitar but I've played piano for 12 years so I know how to read music.
And no, not tabs. I'd prefer sheet music.
