It's made like that, one of these 'worn in' models.
Why the basswood bashing in this thread? My Schecter is basswood and my buddies JP6 is basswood too, it's a great quality wood (or it can be). Hell I paid £230 for my Schecter and it still has a fantastic sound
Omen 6?
I've got one and I don't mind the basswood at all. Sounds great, plays great, and it's light enough to play all day long.
If you're going for a pack, go for a Squier set. The amp won't be up to much else other than practice on your own, but that's all you'll need for a little while. The bass itself will be alright for a fairly long time as long as it's not a certain kind of Squier, either Bullet or Affinity (I can't remember which). You can upgrade hardware in it as well so you don't need to get a new bass for a long time.
Looked around a bit, these two seem to be the cheapest:

What's the difference between a P bass and a Jazz bass?

Heh...shelled out for the Fender issuing of the Frankenstrat, huh?
Hope you play lots of Van Halen.

I actually thought that was the Frankenstrat until I counted the frets on the fretboard. Eddie's original Frankenstrat has a 24-fret Kramer neck bolted onto it.
Not guitar related but studio/music related. Teacher at my school needs to make room in the band room, is giving me a Hammond organ. Moving all the guitars and the organ to my basement to make a studio I guess haha.

I thought it was one of those types of wood that could come in several forms by region and a few of the cheaper ones were basically particleboard.

Pickups mainly. Go with the jazz.

I still don't believe that he even bought all that

The main difference is the pickups. I think the necks are different, the rest is mostly aesthetic. Your choice really, I prefer the shape and neck of a P-bass, which is why I wanted to get a P-bass with P and J pickups (£25, goddamn steal right there, worth way more even if it is just a Shine).
There's no dramatic difference, really.

PG is my hero ~but~ I saw the real thing last tuesday and no one does it better
It seems that the humming from my guitar is due to a grounding issue as I tested the cable and stuff in my room with another guitar and it didn't produce the same hum.
The wiring sure looks messy, I'll probably resolder them or get someone to do it for me.

ooooo nostalgia listening to that song
Going to build this pedal for my friend soon, the circuit is based on a Marshall Bluesbreaker, not the new "II" model, the old ones which were far better.
He's giving me £70, it costs about £50 to make it so a £20 profit. Can't really haggle that up because it'll be my first "serious" build and I don't think it'll be worth more than that just now.
Still, it's a the beginning of my foray into guitar and pedal electronics.
can anyone reccomend a good headphone amp with distortion(for metal)?

:aaaaa: How do I get such an amazing tone?
can anyone reccomend a good headphone amp with distortion(for metal)?
None exist so you'll just need to settle for something bad. The VOX ones are cool though.

be proud of your tone, screw the headphones
Also what about if its more or less correct pitch at 12th fret but pretty badly out at 1st, 2nd 3rd?
Something to do with the nut?
I ran into this problem and it was my strings. Too old apparently. Was fixed with new strings. If the pitch is slightly off it isn't anything to worry about because that is normal and it really won't make a difference.
Here is a interesting link. This guy came up with a decent that allows for your guitar to be more in tune. A lot of people don't realize it, but the chords you play on a guitar are really in tune. They are in tune enough to sound in tune, but as you go higher up the fretboard they get worse and worse.

Just checked my old files and found a year old recording.
Pretty amazing what I gained in a year on recording experience!
One year before:

And my tone and overrall recording now:

And to mention, the only changed things are the baritone guitar with the bkp pickup and an MXR 10 band EQ.
I am pretty much set to make an whole album! And I am only 18 years old :buddy:
How many songs do you guys suggest for an solo album? 8-13?
Would also take a bit advice for an setlist like :
Song 1 : Intro type thing with weird sounds, no drums
Song 2 : blah blah heavy
Song 3 : Clean break which leads to song 4 in a fade in
Song 4 : etc etc...
I am pretty open for everything since I do some sort of experimental metal.
Also 1 song is completly written now, it's like 7-8 minutes. Other songs will also include the famous NumberStation with it's tooting sound and creepyness and such things. Sorry if this whole stuffy talk is annoying, it's just that nobody else cares and maybe someones interested here

Sadly, as dick-ish as this might come off as, it's entirely true.
Almost every amp I've ever seen that has a 3.5mm headphone out has a pretty poor overall tone. Some of the Peavey Vypyrs have them and they're...okay. Almost all Vypyrs (if not all) have a USB output though, which I suppose would be an exact replica of the amp's tone that you can hear on your computer, through which you can control the volume.
But in all honesty most of the amps with extras like (generic "super-easy recording software") and headphone outputs and the like, tend to be quite bad.
Even many that have a "play along" input (3.5mm or otherwise) tend to have pretty poor overall tone. My Crate has one and I love it to death but it is FAR from my ideal tone. It's great for the mere $100 I paid for a 120w amp that does a pretty good job of giving me the tone I want for my playing...but it's still nowhere near as good as a higher-quality amp (like the Peavey 5150/6505, or the Mesa Rectifiers, etc)
I didnt realise he meant an amp with a headphone output, I thought he literally meant those little tiny "amps" you plug into the guitar and then a headphone into. THOSE are shit, always.
As for amps with headphones, the headphone output will never sound good BUT I stand by my Vox Valvetronix sounding fucking amazing for it's price and size, it has a Valve pre-amp so you get nice natural creamy saturation then the solid state half deals with output. I've got a ridiculous tone coming from this little amp, I'm hesitant to sell it in order to get a new amp. It has my ideal tone and more.

how bout that
Yeah those are the ones I was talking about, I didn't know if you meant an amp with headphones out or an actual headphone "portable" amp.
Like I said, they're cool. Just go for the one that seems most relevant.

All done, except for the string tree but no one cares.
The guy at the shop readjusted my intonation, even though I set it and it seemed to be fine, but probably because he adjusted the string height as well.
He also recommended that I should put a shimmy under the neck and bridge to raise the height of the strings, but the guitar plays fine for now...
This is the only thing that worries me, but the owner told me it was no big deal, and to just fill it in with something.
I thought it was one of those types of wood that could come in several forms by region and a few of the cheaper ones were basically particleboard.
Pretty much every wood is the same, it just seems to me it gets accused of just being a generally bad wood in all cases, when that genuinely isn't true. Low quality basswood is just as average sounding as low quality mahogany or alder, but for some reason it's constantly frowned upon, which is a shame
Speaking of mahogany. I think my next investment after my new amp will be a Dean Evo XM bass. Les Paul shape, dual humbuckers, mahogany body and top. A disadvantage - 30" short scale.
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
I suppose since it's full size it won't matter too much since it's a 24 fret neck.
