Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better

Short scale isn't bad.
Eb0's are short scale and I like them, its like a bigger guitar.
But loldean, won't you learn?
screw you
Speaking of mahogany. I think my next investment after my new amp will be a Dean Evo XM bass. Les Paul shape, dual humbuckers, mahogany body and top. A disadvantage - 30" short scale.
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
I suppose since it's full size it won't matter too much since it's a 24 fret neck.
What difference does full size and 24 frets make to the scale?

Fuckin awesome song
screw you
To be fair, if lots of experienced and knowledgeable musicians heavily mock a specific brand, there's probably a reason.

i now need this

Bandwagons are a powerful thing
What difference does full size and 24 frets make to the scale?
I just don't want to have a small looking neck on anything I play. something of a peeve, it annoys me when it looks to small for the body.
But the scale length affects that much more than the number of frets
Bandwagons are a powerful thing
except dean is right up there with BC Rich
[editline]13th April 2011[/editline]
actually dean is worse, BC Rich at least has Kerry King. what famous guitar players play Dean?
don't say dimebag, Dean is probably what killed him
But the scale length affects that much more than the number of frets
I know. I'm just being stupid as normal
Dean are a reprehensible company in terms of business practices, but their US models and most of their non V neck models are playable at the very least. Their Floyds are a piece of shit. The Dave Mustaine models are great though.
Also BC Rich get an absurd amount of hate for their body shapes and low priced models, despite the fact that most of their guitars about £350 are just as good quality when compared to other brands
Also, Buttsex, dumbass post of the year

Jeff Berlin, Vinnie Moore, Dave Mustaine, Glen Drover, Leslie West, Michael Schenker, Michael Amott, Uli Jon Roth, Eric Peterson, Karl Sanders, Tracii Guns, Michael Angelo Batio
that's just exclusive to Dean players. loads of others use them, including Alestorm's guitarists, but they use other brands as well.
Dean MAB1s are very good actually, though you should expect so when paying over a grand :v:

pretty sure they all use custom guitars anyway that you can't normally buy from anywhere.
So does Kerry King, so do 90% of endorsees for big companies
the difference is you can buy a kerry king signature
I don't think I've seen a michael angelo batio signature anywhere
He has a sig. I still don't see how you being able to buy a cheap imitation of his guitar makes it more legitimate
So does Kerry King, so do 90% of endorsees for big companies
Steve Vai
PRS's signature artists (excluding Paul Allender and Mikael Akerfeldt, as they use custom shop models that are made with the regular C22/24 series-spec woods and parts, but their PRS consumer models are ONLY produced in the SE line)
Can't think of any others off the top of my head that DEFINITELY use the regular production version of their signature guitars.

I don't like Batio that much really, but that guitar really borders the lines between beautiful, fucking badass, and "trying too hard."
But in bordering them all, it looks awesome.
Just checked my old files and found a year old recording.
Pretty amazing what I gained in a year on recording experience!
One year before:

And my tone and overrall recording now:

And to mention, the only changed things are the baritone guitar with the bkp pickup and an MXR 10 band EQ.
I am pretty much set to make an whole album! And I am only 18 years old :buddy:
How many songs do you guys suggest for an solo album? 8-13?
Would also take a bit advice for an setlist like :
Song 1 : Intro type thing with weird sounds, no drums
Song 2 : blah blah heavy
Song 3 : Clean break which leads to song 4 in a fade in
Song 4 : etc etc...
I am pretty open for everything since I do some sort of experimental metal.
Also 1 song is completly written now, it's like 7-8 minutes. Other songs will also include the famous NumberStation with it's tooting sound and creepyness and such things. Sorry if this whole stuffy talk is annoying, it's just that nobody else cares and maybe someones interested here
sounds good man.
what do you use for drums? - or do you record them yourself?

Two of my friends have one. It is actually very good.
Well, my highest string just clean snapped while trying to stretch it out after tuning back up from Eb. Time to change 'em!
Got those freaky titanium-coated Ernie Ball strings, really wanted to try them out compared to my usual DR's. Time to find out I suppose.
And while I'm at it I believe it is time to clean and polish my beautiful baby for the first time.
Pretty much every wood is the same, it just seems to me it gets accused of just being a generally bad wood in all cases, when that genuinely isn't true. Low quality basswood is just as average sounding as low quality mahogany or alder, but for some reason it's constantly frowned upon, which is a shame
I could have sworn like every type of basswood except a couple sounded similar, and those were dirt cheap (don't think it's tilia vulgaris but something like that and another guy) and sounded like foam, which is where people being paranoid of cheap basswood instruments came from.
To be fair, if lots of experienced and knowledgeable musicians heavily mock a specific brand, there's probably a reason.
I mock them because it's funny, not because they're all objectively shit.
Though several are but that's every company's lower priced offerings for you.

I want MAB's actual aluminum guitar.
Also, as long as I'm wishing for ponies, an Agile five string bass, an amp sim DSP card that uses actual tubes, and a seven string telecaster.

I had a Dean 4 string bass just like that that I bought for $20.
worst.
bass.
ever.
whoever thought that was a good shape for an instrument had to be mildly retarded.
all good though, because I sold it two days later for $40.

What about the pony
Are the ernie ball coated strings as bright as, say the normal strings?
