• Guitar Discussion Thread V7 - More strings the better

I once saw a 6 string guitar equipped with an 185 bass string on sevenstring.org it looked like a metal high voltage cable.
This is probably very rare, but are there any 7 string guitars with atleast one single coil pickup? Preferably under £400, but that might be asking too much. :v:
Oh, I have no idea under 400 pounds...most HSH 7-strings I know of are ~1k like the UV777 or RG1570 or those Carvins. Try looking for one of those used maybe?
Fucking still sanding this guitar. I don't think I'm going to 100% remove the finish but I'm going to ge it matte enough so that paint will cling to it.

I'm going to spray it white and then age/relic it and then spray it red and do the same so you get a mish-mash of red and white paint jobs showing through. but it'll be 98% red. Gold hardware, rosewood neck, white pearl pickguard. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] Dibs on making the new thread please? I'm pretty sure I have the most posts in this thread >_> [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] Wait do threads end at 51 pages or still at 125? [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] Nevermind I'm an idiot! :p
This thread has a lot of mileage left. Seriously considering a Jazzmaster. I could get £130 knocked off it, and it sounds awesome. I'd need to get it on finance though and it's something of a bind :saddowns:
What string did you use for the low A?
.48 ahaha
EMG humbucker in the bridge position Floyd Rose vibrato Ebony fretboard I love how on paper Mark Knopfler's Suhr sounds like a Schecter sig for a guy from a post hardcore band
EMG? Really? But he mostly plays clean and overdrive When did he start using it?
He's had EMGs since 1986 But this is his famous EMG equipped guitar, his 1987 Pensa Suhr, it's absolutely beautiful ;_;
He's had EMGs in guitars but he's famous for his red strat with plain single coils. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] That's where his tone came from, along with his immense fingerpicking skills.
FINALLY Looks like I found a few guys wanting to start a band. Im going to be the lead vocalist, and secondary guitar, since we already have a lead guitarist and a rythim guitarist. Now, first we want to do a few covers of some easy songs. So far, these are my suggestions: -Living after Midnight, Heading out to the hightway, Breaking the Law, by Judas Priest -For whom the bell tools, by Metallica -Ace of spades, by Motorhead -Paranoid, Iron man, by Black Sabbath -Smells like teen spirit, by Nirvana -Raining blood, by Slayer -The Trooper, by Iron Maiden -Creep, by Radiohead -Smoke on the water, by Deep Purple What do you guys think? Are they good songs to start? Any suggestions?
Creep and SLTS don't fit, something like Alice in Chains would be better, also there are better Deep Purple songs IMO

Well, the thing is, we are thinking about doing a small gig at our school in the end of the year, and considering the most people aren't that much really into metal or rock it would be good to have 1 or 2 songs which are somewhat known to the general population.
Fucking broke my 11 year old strat by taking the volume knob off and the shaft in the potentiometer just decided to come with it. I can replace it easily.. it was bound to happen the amount of abuse that guitar has got. It's both awesome and sad to see it has went so long without breaking while being used to carelessly. [editline]18th April 2011[/editline] In other news I have a cool big muff :p
thinking about customising my tele's body. it's only a copy so it's not worth anything anyway.
Swapping out pickups sounds difficult.
It's a very common mod made to guitars, and most serious players change their pickups to get the sound they want (or had them changed by someone :v:). There are plenty of tutorials on the net. If you really needed to, you could get a pro to do it for you, but that would probably cost a bit.
It's not too difficult you just have to know basic electronics, be able to solder efficiently and be watchful of your wiring.
they must really be rich if they think just being poor makes you good at the blues I suppose they think any black guy can rap too
I don't think I'm good at the blues, I've only had one year of knowing the basic pentatonic scale.. Yes, they go to a private school and there aren't any black or hispanic kids there, it feels like segregation there.. It's really depressing. Also, I say rich as in they have two houses each and the school is 10k a semester...
well have fun partying with the cool kids
well have fun partying with the cool kids
idont fit in

I would have if I had a heat gun or the money to get one. I was going to use the old careful blowtorch method but my dads blowtorch is broke.
Does anyone here own a Jackson?
I have a jackson rr3, bought it used with a shit ton of shroom stickers on the back (previous owner) but the guitar itself is awesome, nothing wrong with it.
In other news I have a cool big muff :p [img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/kinnI.jpg[/img_thumb]
christ guy how many muffs do you own
How many do you think I have?
27, give or take a few
How many do you think I have?
Considering the one looks like it's been falling off of tables for years I'd say a full domino set.
