There is a big difference between a spider and a vetta II
there is also a big difference between the two there, the one on top is a marvelous awesome rhythm guitarist
im p sure line 6 is fine for people who just want to play in their house for fun\beginners
shouldve said "spyder" in my post lemme edit that in
"duling" the poly finish doesn't remove the poly finish.. removing the poly finish removes the guitars paint so it's near impossible. i'm silly to think i can achieve the look i want with a poly guitar. i'm just going sand off the finish and refinish with a vintage/viesta red over a relic'd white finish. gold hardware and fender lace sensor pickups :D
oh and a 70s style strat headstock
Ah right, fair enough then. Good luck sanding it down, fiesta red strats look great.
(note: not bashing Ibanez but they generally attract a certain kind of guitarist/genre)
I wasn't aware awesome was a genre.

Jealous.
And no us hating Line 6 is a running gag. The cheap shit is bad, as is everybody's cheap shit, it just happens to drive amateurs on youtube to spectacular shitty covers more than anything else.

Perfectly designed for the most brutal of death metal.
The Line6 amps in college are so tempermental. You touch ONE setting ever so slightly and the whole thing goes fucking nuts. I genuinely do hate them.
They might have other nice amps but every amp I've used from them has been a bad experience.

You're saying Ibanez sell and make more of those archtop style guitars than their pointy, beefed up, humbucking superstrats marketed to people who wear megadeath t-shirts with long hair and lacking social skills?
And remember I'm referring to a stereotype of sorts.. but they're stereotypes for a reason.. I'm not saying every Ibanez user is a metalhead who puts acoustic strings on their guitar so they can keep tension at drop C and below, I'm just saying that's generally who they attract. I'd like a nice looking Ibanez at some point but it doesn't really match what I play, though I'm sure it could I'm attached to Stratocasters and Telecasters.
since this thread is more active than the bass thread i'd figure i'd ask here
whats a bass thats good for playing pretty much anything? (as i know some basses aren't good when it comes to playing funk, and i like to play funk.)
i've got a budget of 200ish. was thinking squier affinity series jazz bass, but i dunno. or maybe an ibanez? i got a friend who's got an ibanez bass, gio i think, and it plays funk and everything else perfectly. ;~)
i'm a noob

I have one of those "pointy, beefed up, humbucking superstrats" and to be honest it's far more well rounded than, say, a Dean or B.C Rich, it plays rock perfectly fine, and the little single coil in there is sweet. I understand they have a reputation, but Ibanez make good quality guitars that do far more than metal.

That is basically what my guitar will look similar to when done...
Watcha think?

Have a look at the SR series, but you probably won't get a good one for $200 but you might get a good one for £200.
Wanna buy my Dean?
You just have to come to neskaupstaður to pick it up hehehe!
Pic?
If I happen to come to neskaupstaður with spending money in the nearest future (which is highly unlikely) I'll think about it.
I'm about to sell one of my guitars, but I have a slight problem.
The guitar in question is a ESP LTD Viper 400 w/ EMG 81/85's
My problem is that I don't know what I can get for it, price wise.
It is in good condition, with the only flaw being a nick in the back of neck.
Anyone have any ideas on what I can sell it for?
Im from Michigan if that means anything...
60% of retail person to person (maybe a little more on a good day), maybe 40% to a shop
The only places I can find online selling them are going for $600. They have been replaced by the Viper 401, which is the same thing.. and it too retails for $600.. So, $350-$360ish?
Put an ad up for $450 and negotiate down from there. There's a lot of tire kickers out there so don't get discouraged and trade it into a shop, you'll get shit all for it
Sounds like a solid plan. There is no way I would even think about bringing it to a shop. The only shop around here is Guitar center, and they probally would give me $100 if i was lucky..
I really want to buy this
Blackstar HT-5 Mini half-stack

I'm in love with it
I own a HT5 Combo, so I can see why.
I know the Marhsall MG 250dfx is not good sounding, but considering how expensive it was, are the speakers any good? It's hard to find info on them, Marshall just calls them "12" Custom"
I really want to build amps and cabs more than I do guitars

first page has a pic of it
aren't you gonna come to eistnaflug
How much you wanna sell it for?
I really want to build amps and cabs more than I do guitars
There's a definite gap in the market for custom amp builders, the problem is there are a lot of hoops to jump and conditions to be met before you're allowed to do so legally. Ormsby had a lot of trouble getting his amp division set up. It's not impossible, but it's a lot harder to purely get started on amp building than it is guitar building
i'd love to start up a project in which i build my own amp, but it seems so hard, and i wouldn't know where to start at all.
would make a hell of a project though.
Argh, my TL-2 has been bugging me a little. It sounds good, but I can't quite get what I'm looking for. I would use my Bugera's distortion, but it's raw sounding so it only suits some things.

around 2:05
I'm looking for a tone like that, I know it's quite edited, but it's not that complex sounding to me. Basically, what are some distortion pedals that can get me tones like that? It's not all that high gain from what I hear.
I'll play with my TL-2 some more in a bit, but I'd still like some suggestions. I do have an EQ pedal, so I can tweak an extra bit.

I mean for my own use
not to sell
and I have a lot of experience building speaker boxes and installing car stereos
plus actually building the guts of the amp itself doesn't seem all that difficult
