Does anyone know why a killswitch would not work at all? I put one in my acoustic guitar today and it does nothing. I think it might be a grounding issue seeing as how nothing in my guitar is metal but the strings, volume pot's bottom and the 1/4 jack.
Switch is SPST momentary on of course, pickup is a single coil leading to a volume control going to a 1/4 jack.
Or your volume is too low and you're hearing the acoustic sing loudly... Because it's an acoustic.

I've turned my amp UP just to check if it was working because I did think it was that but the only thing my killswitch does is make a soft popping noise on clean and when I have distortion on it doesn't really do anything.
CORRECTION
It's now kinda working, the killswitch isn't shorting the signal but when i press the button to kill the signal it just kinda "softens" the sound, pretty much going from clarity to muffled blues if I'm making any sense.
And continuing on the subject of Paul Gilbert:

I tried doing that years ago but I just got some nasty feedback

I know it's an Ephiphone.. surprise surprise they actually make some great guitars, a few are becoming better than Gibsons low end.
i'm dying for one of those, but i really have to buy a decent amp first :frown:
Me and a friend recorded this Joe Satriani song, Solitude, from his new album, I'm on guitar, he's on the cup+spoon hahaha
We had tons of fun recording this :v:

well played on your part johny v:v:v
I really need to save for the Ashdown I want to get.
Soon, I'm going to throw down some cash on one of these bad boys. Definitely going used. They're pretty easy to come by here in chicago.

Tell me how it is, I might want one in the near future.
Chris Broderick's new Jackson looks sweet

[editline]26th April 2011[/editline]
my friend says that Broderick should have stayed with Ibanez, but I think the Jackson looks awesome, better than the Ibanez, and I like Jackson more.
broderick is still a tool no matter what guitar he uses
I'm gonna miss Broderick's stylish as fuck 7 string LACS guitars. That particular Jackson just looks gaudy.

The best part of this website is this post:
Your dad played guitar before you did. He was a garage god, ripping power chords and blasting solos out of his Marshall half stack. His amp didn’t go up to 11, it went up to panty dropper and he would blast his notes into your mom’s lady bits.
So hipsters, next time you’re trying to learn Elliot Smith’s Needle in the Hay or some shitty Vampire Weekend song that your girlfriend heard in a Toyota commercial…
remember this, your mom was your dad’s groupie because he crushed it on the guitar.
My dad may play guitar but he has certainly never blasted any power chords on it, and I very much doubt his abilities to drop panties with it :v:
Nothing against him though, I thank the man for setting me on the guitar playing path :buddy:
broderick is still a tool no matter what guitar he uses
Why?
Also that reminds me I still want his fucking pick-clip-thing.
just look at him
if he were any more tan he'd be a cast member of the jersey shore
Are we talking about the same guy?
The Megadeth guy?
That as of NAMM still looked like a generic white dude?
Broderick seems like a pretty cool dude to me, and I have a ton of respect for him. I struggle to think of anyone that has a more thorough mastery of the guitar.

I don't. I can think of plenty of guitar players as good as or better than boderick.
He's still great, better than most here, but not by any means the best around.

Well, who comes closer to mastering the instrument? I just haven't seen many players that are fluent in so many individual playing techniques, while also playing classical and jazz alongside modern heavy metal. He's also open to extended range guitars. I'm not saying he's definitively the best player out there, I just don't know of any that are better technically.
I'm only speaking in terms of technique. There are plenty of better guitarists in terms of musicality and songwriting in my opinion.
Buckethead.
Buckethead.
How do you consider him to be better?
I'm no Buckethead expert, but all his stuff seems to be a bit.. meh (Like, what scale is that which he is tapping :S).

Broderick's technique just seems way more solid (not to mention versatile):

Javier Reyes is my favourite guitarist, I really like his rhythm work for Animals as Leaders and he is a great player on his own too.

Steve Vai.
It doesn't matter the question, the answer is Steve Vai.

Who is the worst guitarist on earth?
Steve Vai.
Outstanding logic you have there!

He has one in that finish too.

that's the thing, he's too technical. there's a difference between being good at playing guitar and being a good guitarist
he's like the retard jock that only goes to the gym to watch himself work out in the mirrors both in the way he looks and how he plays
as dizzy gillespie once said; "maybe if he left some holes in his solos some music would fall out"

This information is useful to me :monocle:
